The algae covered your tank won't be killed by the UV sterilizer, because they attached themselves on the surface and won't get into the UV unit. In most of cases, you can use pleco to remove this type of algae. If the one you got is black hair algae, (you can google for it's picture), nothing will kill it or eat it, the easiest way might be to tear down your tank, bleach everything then start over. Question:	how much are the replacement bulbs
Answer:	You can order the replacement bulbs on Amazon or get them locally at Lowe’s. I’ve been using this UV clarifier for 4 years now and love it, and get my bulbs at both places. Average price is about $12-$13
Question:	There is a small light on the end of the container. Does that tell if the light is actually working or not? Mine has never been lit
Answer:	Yes, it tells you it is on. However, you will not be able to see it during the day. Wait until night. If your bulb is installed correctly, then you will not only see the blue light on the end, but the in-flow tube will also be lit up. Make sure you also remove the plastic piece on the end of the light bulb, I didn't and it melted and burnt up my bulb. If the housing isn't screwed on correctly, the light won't come on. Its a safety feature. Check the light after dark, and then check to make sure the bulb is plugged in all the way and then that the in and out valves are on correctly and level. Hope this helps.
Question:	Can I use my pump that has a power of more than 560 gph? Mine is 800gph
Answer:	My pump is 1000 GPH and I use it with no problem, so you should be okay.

Answer:	Others have said that this is an above water unit, but it comes with a seal - I have had mine underwater for about a year with no leaks. Like others said though, it floats, so you have to weigh it down.

Answer:	Used it for my 75 gal outdoor pond,cleared pea soup green water to crystal clear in less then 1 week, the water current is strong but my fish seem to love it. I use it along with another pond filter/fountain. You will need to clean the filter pads daily or everyother day until water is clear. Will use it all summer long to keep free floating algae from growing

Answer:	If your tank is less than 55 gallons, you should also watch your water temperature. UV sterilizer bulbs give off heat, so that plus your heater might be raising the water temperature to dangerous levels. I have mine in a 42 gallon and I unplugged my heater. Make sure your water is around 76° unless you have fish like Discus which like water in the 80's.

Answer:	Hi, I live in VA and when the pond freezes over I turn my pumps off. I have read where you can leave them on or turn them off during winter but I usually leave mine on up until the first freeze. I do insert a hose in the pond with the tip sticking out of the water to release gases that get trapped when the pond freezes over. Hope this helps.

Sting Ray 1200 Fountain Spray Patterns

Minimum pump size is determined by pond type, water volume, head height and friction loss. The minimum pump size recommendations are:

Circulate total pond water volume every 2 hours.

Example: 2,000 GPH pump for a 3000-gallon pond with 2’ waterfall.

Circulate total pond water volume every 1 hour.

Example: 3,800 GPH pump for a 3000-gallon pond with 2’ waterfall.

Circulate total pond water volume every 3/4 hours.

Example: 2,000 GPH pump for a 3000-gallon pond with 2’ waterfall.

Dynamic head pressure is found by taking the vertical height of your waterfall; the distance between where your pump is (typically in the skimmer) and where your waterfall is, and adding the static head pressure (pipe and fittings) 1’ for every 10’ of tubing and 1’ for every elbow or “T” fitting.

Example: 3' (vertical height) + 2.5 (25' of tubing) + 2' (for 2 elbows) = 7.5' of Dynamic Head Pressure

Note: It is important to take into consideration while calculating how much flow will be at the top of your waterfall by accounting for the head height due to the laws of fluid dynamics. Please refer to the flow chart above to help choose the correct pump.
