3 best rv weather station

An RV weather station is a specialized weather monitoring device designed for use in recreational vehicles (RVs). It falls under the category of weather instruments and outdoor decor, primarily intended for enhancing the RV experience. Here's some information about RV weather stations:

  1. Weather Monitoring: RV weather stations are compact and portable devices that provide real-time weather information specific to your current location. They typically measure various meteorological parameters, including temperature, humidity, barometric pressure, wind speed, wind direction, and sometimes rainfall.

  2. Compact and Portable: These weather stations are designed to be lightweight and easy to install or set up within an RV. They are often battery-powered, making them suitable for both stationary and on-the-go use.

  3. LCD Display: Many RV weather stations come with an LCD display that shows the current weather data in an easy-to-read format. Some models may offer additional features like trend graphs, historical data, and weather forecasts.

  4. Wireless Connectivity: Some advanced RV weather stations feature wireless connectivity, allowing you to monitor weather data remotely via smartphone apps or dedicated receivers. This is particularly convenient for keeping an eye on weather conditions while inside the RV.

  5. Forecasting: While basic RV weather stations provide current weather data, more advanced models may also offer short-term weather forecasts. These forecasts can be helpful for planning outdoor activities or deciding when it's safe to travel.

  6. Wind Monitoring: Given that RVs can be affected by strong winds, RV weather stations often include wind speed and wind direction sensors. This information can be crucial for safe driving and camping.

  7. Temperature Control: Accurate temperature readings are essential for ensuring comfort inside the RV. RV weather stations can provide indoor and outdoor temperature data, helping you adjust your climate control systems as needed.

  8. Barometric Pressure: Monitoring barometric pressure can help you anticipate changes in weather conditions, including approaching storms or improving weather.

  9. Humidity Readings: Humidity levels inside the RV can affect comfort and can also be important for avoiding condensation and mold issues. RV weather stations provide humidity readings to help you manage indoor conditions.

  10. Rainfall Measurement: Some RV weather stations include rain gauges to measure the amount of precipitation. This information is useful for planning outdoor activities and assessing potential flooding risks.

  11. Power Source: RV weather stations are typically designed to operate on battery power, making them suitable for off-grid camping. Some may also offer options for solar charging or connection to the RV's electrical system.

  12. Mounting Options: RV weather stations can be mounted externally on the RV's exterior or placed indoors near a window. The choice of location can impact the accuracy of the data collected.

Having an RV weather station onboard can enhance your camping experience by providing you with essential weather information to plan your activities and stay safe during your travels. It allows you to monitor conditions both inside and outside your RV, helping you make informed decisions based on real-time data.

User questions & answers

Question: Why doesn’t outside temp register? Inside temp is working I also put in brand new batteries
Answer: Check that your batteries are charged to 1.5. If you don't have a way (voltage meter) to check, try brand new batteries that are new off the store shelf. For the sync-up process, the batteries must be 1.5 or better. It's the #1 problem we see.
Question: Hello. . . i love this weather station but the aa batteries in my remote die very quickly. what batteries work bet for you
Answer: All outdoor sensors should use Energizer Ultimate Lithium batteries. Alkalines will freeze, rechargables start at a max of 1.4 v and drop to 1.2 v fairly quickly and do not like extreme cold. They do not work in Iowa winter. All my external sensors use AA Ultimate Lithiums and last the entire winter, even at -15 below zero F. I change them out every Fall.
Question: Looking to mount this unit flat on a wall. Wtith power cord attached, would this unit sit flush against the wall
Answer: Yes, it can be wall mounted and sit flush against the wall even with the cord attached.
Question: Is it necessary to buy the la crosse technology tx141th-bv2 wireless outdoor thermo-hygrometer $19.95 to make the wireless forecast station wireless
Answer: If I may say, you might want to reconsider a product from LaCrosse. I have had an s85814 weather station for about 3 years and it currently serves as the night light in my bedroom. It never worked and LaCrosse wasn't much help. The temperature outside was always off by close to 20 degrees. Don't do it, you'll regret it!

User questions & answers

Question: What type battery required
Answer: Thankfully no.
Question: Is the clock etc. backlit for reading time etc at night
Answer: ONE ANWSER SAID A 2 INCH POLE WHILE ANOTHER SAID ONE INCH?? Anyone really know?
Question: How "weather resistant" is the sensor
Answer: The one i got lasted about 3 months in the Colorado sun. I just went up today to replace it and it still shows no battery. I looked at the reviews and apparently when you replace the battery you have to pull the unit, put the new rechargeable battery in it and put it under a light for 24 hours to charge said new battery. The unit wont charge a fresh battery, only keep it going for a few months. If I have to get on the roof of my house every 3 months, this thing goes in the garbage. Not happy.
Question: Is the back flat so I can hang this on a wall
Answer: Mine is about 12ft away. I think the limit is around 300ft. That's probably without any buildings or obstructions in line of view. It has worked flawlessly since installation.

Note: In Mounting/Positioning Remote sensor First: Place the remote sensor in the desired shaded location and the weather station in the home. Wait approximately 1 hour before permanently mounting the remote sensor to ensure that there is proper reception. POSITION Outdoor: • Protect the remote sensor from standing rain or snow and from the overhead sun, which can cause it to read incorrectly. • Mounting under an eave or deck rail works well. • If you choose, you can construct a small roof or box for the remote sensor. Be sure a box has vents. • Mount the remote sensor on the North side where to prevent sun from causing incorrect readings. • Mount at least 6 feet in the air for a strong RF (radio frequency) signal. • Do not mount the remote sensor on a metal fence. This significantly reduces the effective range. • Remote sensors are water resistant, not waterproof

Troubleshooting Tips!

Dashes for Outdoor temp

1) Hold HEAT/DEW button for 3 seconds to search for outdoor sensor. Reception icon will flash while searching/solid when received signal.

2) Weak battery power - check low battery indicator on station. You may change batteries in your sensor, then immediately hold HEAT/DEW to search for signal again!

Weak/Low Power

Low battery next to Indoor Temp = weather station back up batteries are weak/low

  1. Continue using power cord, and remove old batteries.
  2. Recommend using Brand Name, Standard Alkaline batteries (Exp Date should be 7 years ahead of current year)
  3. No action required after

Factory Restart: Remove Residual electrical current

  1. DISCONNECT: Remove all power (batteries and AC power cord) from weather station and sensor (bring near station)
  2. Press one of the buttons on the weather station at least 20 times to clear all memory
  3. Leave both units without power for 15 minutes

Reinstall with Fresh, New Batteries

  1. Insert fresh batteries into the outdoor sensor.
  2. Insert the AC power cord into the wall outlet then into the weather station.
  3. Wait 15 minutes for proper connection between sensor and display before remounting your sensor. (We recommend mounting sensor on Northside of home, protected from direct sunlight and precipitation, but well-ventilated)
