I found that There are different grades of timberland. To get the best timberland shoes at premium prices, buy direct from a timberland store. Amazon Timberland shoes are medium quality and do the job. They last 1/2 to a full year in construction and are $20-$30 less than premium Timberland work boots. If you are going to ruin them in several months it does not pay to get the premium ones. If you wear them around the house or out then I would get premium Timberland's direct. They will look and feel better. The inside is real leather rather than the material.It is a personal preference. Since the people making Amazon Timberlands are not as good as the premium Timberlands, make sure you check the size and fit when you get them. I received a size 13 in a box marked 11.5. |

| Answer: | Waterproof ProtectionMichelle, as with any leather boot the waterproofing is probably only going to be maintained if you treat the leather with the recommended waterproofing product. I believe the tongue is connected a ways up which would help repel water coming in near the laces. I would not expect them to be as waterproof as a rubber boot but I do wear them in the snow and rain without an issue. I didn't treat mine so the water will saturate the leather a little, I expect that if you keep up with the water repelant treatment you would do much better. THis is what the boot description says "Seam-sealed waterproof leathers cause liquid to bead up and shed from the surface, providing durable, long-lasting waterproof protection". I really do like these boots and they are the ones that I have purchased for work and around my home for the last 5 or 6 years. Hope this helps , I wouldnt stand in a puddle all day with these boots but I think if you found yourself in a consruction site with mud and puddles you would probably be in good shape, the more you care for and clean the boots the longer they will perform. Most of all these boots are comfortable from day one . |

Be sure to care for your boots by using a silicone rub such as kiwi minkoil. By the way, in the last 6 years I have been through 4 pairs of these awesome boots. I use them for my job (package delivery) and use them for outdoor activities like 5-15 mile hikes. Get some SOLE Ultra insoles and these puppies will keep your feet painfree especially if you are on you feet for 10-15 hours/day. The only bad part is that the tread wears out pretty fast. But that is probably my fault because I cover so many miles (~300 miles/pair) on them on the concrete, asphalt and mountain trails. I'll stop there, I love these boots and hope they never change them!! |

| Answer: | Hello, I'm a Nutraceutical consultant with many years employment background in QC pharmaceutical and medicinal chemistry. I have not tested this lot of product personally, nor have I contacted NOW to ask, but I've used it in the past and I'd safely assume this is pure Tocopheryl Acetate based on the IU claim of 70,000 per 2.5oz. It's actually a conservative number, probably closer to 73,900 IU in theory, but it's a testimony to the honesty of NOW to short the claim! As a QC chemist, I can tell you that's a good sign in any manufacturer, and the lower IU claim helps account for any reduced potency. Reduced potency is common with commercial products, and generally results from long storage in some relatively uncontrolled warehouse, short term excessive heat during shipping, light exposure, etc.. so the product you actually receive probably is ~70,0000 IU.Anyway, "Tocopheryl Acetate" is a thick, sticky mess, and that's just how it is. If you cut it with 50% thin veg oil (like grape seed) it makes it much easier to work with. I keep the stock bottle in the fridge, and a 50% diluted aliquot in a dropper bottle out to use, then just mix up more as I need it. It's best to keep the stock stored cold in amber glass because all isomers and esters of Vit. E are very UV sensitive, and heat is the enemy also. In the future, NOW might consider using actinic or amber containment for this product. You can wrap the outside of the bottle with aluminum foil if you don't have another darker containment vessel to transfer it to. As for specific composition, it's likely synthetic for the price (but not necessarily) and it's mixed DL isomers of alpha, beta, gamma and delta forms of Tocopheryl. Ironically, the biologically superior Alpha form is the most inferior anti-oxidant, so I prefer this kind of mixed product if I'm seeking a good, oil soluble anti-oxidant. It is almost certainly 18-25% Alpha form based on all my experiences with this raw material. If you are interested in maximum biological activity, then pure distilled "D-alpha-Tocopherol" is what you want. This is it's natural free alcohol form. It's physical characteristics are identical to the other forms (thick and gooey) but it's a golden brown color in free form (only the Acetates are clear/yellow colored.) I greatly prefer the Acetates because they prolong the storage life. If it breaks down in the bottle, it forms free Vit. E with a little acetic acid (vinegar) which helps prevent auto-oxidation of the free Vit. E, and that's a good thing. Free form alpha Vit. E is far less stable (especially most affordable commercial forms with trace impurities), and must be stored more carefully and used more rapidly. Hope this helps. |

So warm in fact that I only wear them on the coldest nights on the pass. Mine have 400 gms of insulation, and that's probably too much for me. My next pair will either have 200, or none at all. They have the best insoles for standing for long durations, so I'll definitely order some for the summer. |
