User questions & answers

Question: does this feeder work for sunflower seed
Answer: Yes, sunflower seeds can be used with this feeder.
Question: I don't see any traditional ports for acess for the food, and no good pics. Can I assume the food falls into a circular trough
Answer: Yes fill food from top and filters to 2 troughs
Question: Is this a plastic cylinder with both ends open? What is the diameter of the diameter of the cylinder
Answer: This actually has 2 plastic cylinders- one for each level of the feeder. Both ends of each are open so you can take it apart for cleaning. The plastic cylinders look like they are 4" in diam. The birds really use it a lot as the perch goes all the way around and the feed comes out all the way around. You don't have to take it apart to get feed in the bottom either- just put the feed down the middle tube in the top part. I also have the single level one and the birds also use that alot!
Question: Is this feeder all plastic or are some parts metal
Answer: Metal and plastic. I took mine down after a couple of weeks......food everywhere! Whenever a bird flies from it, it swings and all the food goes on the ground. I would not recommend this feeder unless you pole mount it.

Perky-Pet Panorama Bird Feeder

Welcome a wide range of wild birds to your yard with this Perky-Pet Panorama Bird Feeder. This feeder attracts everything from cardinals, chickadees, finches, and grosbeaks to jays, nuthatches, tufted titmice, and woodpeckers. Combining rustic charm with useful functionality, this hanging bird feeder makes a lovely addition to any personal collection or a thoughtful housewarming or holiday gift idea for the bird lover on your list.

Easy to fill and use

This feeder holds up to 4.5 pounds of black oil sunflower seed, peanuts, a fruit/nut combo, or mixed seed. The two compartments can be filled with the same seed or two different types of seeds for when you want to attract an even larger variety of birds. After filling this bird feeder, simply hang it in the yard, and watch as your feathered friends fly in to feast.

This Panorama wild bird feeder features a patented Sure-Lock cap system that not only allows for quick, easy filling, but also makes it possible to lock the lid in place, helping to prevent squirrels from accessing the seed. Seeds stored in the two separate reservoirs flow down into the trays as birds feed, and the clear plastic seed compartments offer at-a-glance convenience when checking seed levels.

Suggested placement and cleaning of feeder

This Panorama wild bird feeder's hanging wire allows for sturdy hanging near a back deck, porch, patio, or a window overlooking a garden or landscaped area in your yard. Choose a location that not only provides a great view, but that is also bird friendly. Birds prefer an open space, so they can easily move from one feeding port to the next. They also like to be in a location that gets both sun and partial shade during the day. An ideal location will be between 5 and 8 feet off the ground and within 15 feet of nearby coverage, like bushes and shrubs, so birds feel safe and protected from predators.

Keep this bird feeder clean and filled with fresh seed or feed to ensure return visits. Perky-Pet recommends checking this bird feeder once a week for insects or mold and cleaning it every few weeks with a mild soap and water solution.

Frequently asked questions

Q. What are the most popular bird seeds to use?

A. Black Oil Sunflower Seed is the most popular bird seed. It is much smaller than the traditional sunflower seed and best for those birds with smaller bills, such as the sparrow, junco and goldfinch. This seed is accepted by the greatest variety of birds.

Mixed Seed is also popular. It is best to buy the mixes that contain white proso millet, a tiny cream colored seed with a shiny shell. Mixes containing finely cracked corn and black oil sunflower are also preferred by a large number of birds.

Nyger (Thistle Seed) is imported from Africa and Asia. Nyger won't germinate, however, it has a tendency to become moldy due to lack of air circulation. If you notice mold on the seed, it must be removed from the feeder and the feeder must be cleaned thoroughly.

Q. How do I clean my bird feeders?

A. Before filling your feeder with fresh seed, it is recommended that the following precautions are taken:

1. Remove all old seed.

2. Soak feeder in a light water/bleach solution (9 parts water to 1 part bleach).

3. Scrub feeder and allow to air dry.

4. Rake and remove accumulated hulls and droppings from underneath the feeders.

5. Spread mulch (bark or wood) under the feeder, replace mulch when soiled.

6. Thoroughly wash hands after handling and cleaning feeders.

Q. What is the importance of providing water for wild birds?

A. Wild birds need fresh, clean water just as much as they need seed. Birds stay healthy by using water not just for drinking, but also for bathing, cleaning their feathers and to remove parasites. Waterers are better options than bird baths because they provide birds with fresh, clean water that prevents dirt and debris from contaminating it. In hotter climates or seasons, providing water for birds makes it easy for them to have access to a water source and retain their energy. By adding a water source, you also can attract a larger variety of birds to your yard. You may even attract more colorful birds that don't eat seed, but are in need of water.

Product description

The Perky-Pet Squirrel-Be-Gone Wild Bird Feeder III features 9 feeding ports, U-shaped perches, 3 separate seed tubes that allow for a variety of seed types and holds 8 lb of seed. The interior seed tower is surrounded by rustic metalwork. The nine perch/feeding station set-up, coupled with the anti-squirrel technology makes this feeder one of the most economical and convenient on the market! The three clear, seed tubes make it easy to monitor seed levels. Remember to clean your feeder once every two weeks with mild soap and water solution.

  • Ports close under a squirrel’s weight, preventing them from raiding seed supply
  • 9 feeding stations
  • Three seed tubes that allow for seed variety
  • Rustic metal finish

User questions & answers

Question: Plastic ports have broken and are gone after only one Season. Can I buy replacement ports
Answer: yes, The F2 is a good fit on a 2013 Honda CRV.
Question: are the round seed ports metal
Answer: What I can tell you is that this rack fits over a rear spoiler or can be attached to roof bars. It is very well made and the bikes are secure while travelling. 1 or 2 bikes no problem. There is a learning curve on how to affix the rack without scratching the car. I have an impresario wiyh a rear spoiler.
Question: Can the bottom of this feeder be screwed on to a pole
Answer: I am not sure except for the measurements. I have MAZDA 5, it's like a hatchback but the back door is pretty long. There are two half and one half rests on the bumper. The back door on a regular hatchback maybe too small. If it would be an suv definitely it would fit. It's a good quality rack and it is worth trying. I hope it helps...
Question: Can we buy new springs
Answer: The rack I purchased is designed for 3 bikes and has 3 fittings. I have transported 2 bikes easily with it but have not tried 3. It appears though that 3 bikes should work fine on it. I know it will not fit 4 bikes and I don't think Hollywood has a 4 bike option for this model. The unit is very well built, durable, and can adjust to about any car configuration.

Perky-Pet Squirrel-Be-Gone III Wild Bird Feeder

Turn your yard into a bird feeding oasis with this Perky-Pet Squirrel-Be-Gone III Wild Bird Feeder. It attracts everything from cardinals, finches, flickers, and grackles to grosbeaks, jays, juncos, and kinglets, even sparrows, wrens, and woodpeckers. Best of all, this wild bird feeder provides an optimal feeding station for birds, without catering to those sneaky squirrels.

Sorry, squirrels

A charming addition to any outdoor space, this beautiful feeder features three durable plastic seed chambers, attractive metal caging with a powder-coated rustic brown finish, and ornamental leaves that are more than just decorative.

This feeder's innovative weight-activated exterior cage wraps protectively around the seed compartments. When a squirrel climbs onto the cage, the spring-loaded exterior cage drops down, throwing the squirrel off balance and lowering the ornamental leaves on the cage down into position where they effectively act as a barrier, covering the seed ports and preventing squirrels from pillaging the seed supply. Easy-to-access settings allow for adjusting the cage's spring tension as necessary.

This feeder's nine seed ports nicely dispense bird seed, while its bird-preferred, U-shaped metal perches allow birds to comfortably perch and feed. The bird's weight won't lower the cage, but when a squirrel climbs on, down it goes.

Easy to fill and use

This innovative Squirrel-Be-Gone III wild bird feeder comes fully assembled and makes a lovely addition to any personal collection or a thoughtful gift idea. This feeder holds up to 8 pounds of black oil sunflower seed, peanuts, or mixed seed. Use the same seed in all three chambers or add a different kind to each chamber to attract an even greater variety of birds. After filling the bird feeder, simply hang it in the yard, and watch as your feathered friends swoop in to celebrate.

User questions & answers

Question: Has anyone experienced starlings getting inside
Answer: Most starlings will be too large to fit into this feeder. Chickadees and other birds of similar size will fit well and enjoy the feeder.
Question: How did you do the piece of wood on top so the squirrels couldn't lift the top? My problem is the squirrels lift the top and eat the clear plastic
Answer: I don't have a piece of wood on the top of my feeder. It's hanging out over the railing from my 2nd floor apartment so the squirrels really have to work to get on it. And on those rare occasions when they do, they have to hold on with all 4 paws so they can't get the seed out and they can only stick their nose in so no way they can eat the seed that fall into the pan. So far they haven't been able to get the top off. Good luck on your quest!
Question: Will the feeder keep out "bully birds" like grackles and crows
Answer: Yes, and pigeons, too. Mostly crows in Seattle dont care much for small bird seed anyway, but we bought this thing to discourage the pigeons, and it is doing that really well. However, it also keeps out the medium size nice birds (like robins) because the mesh is too small. We get lots of small birds who can enter through the mesh.
Question: How easy is this to clean? I don't suppose the bottom comes off, does it
Answer: bottom does not come off. I had no luck with birds using it. Did not work Jeff H

Question: Is it totally plastic, or is the base made of metal
Answer: Its all plastic....the container and base as well
Question: very little water comes out at a time.... how do i get more water to fill the tray
Answer: Try loosening the connection between the reservoir and the base, this should increase water flow.
Question: Does it come with hook to hang it
Answer: I can’t remember, when I look at the picture it doesn’t look like it has a hook
Question: What's the easiest way to fill it? I got really wet trying the first time! Thank you
Answer: So did I. I did not even think it through and turned it over and got soaked. I have only filled it once myself...so I do not have a definitive answer for you. I plan to fill it half way next time, turn it over slowly, and be on a step stool so I am not directly under it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the importance of providing water for wild birds?

A: Wild birds need fresh, clean water just as much as they need seed. You may even attract more colorful birds that don't eat seed, but are in need of water!

Q: How do I clean my bird waterer?

A: Before filling your waterer with fresh water, it is recommended that the following precautions are taken:

1. Remove old water.

2. Soak waterer in a light water/bleach solution (9 parts water to 1 part bleach).

3. Scrub waterer and allow to air dry.

4. Thoroughly wash hands after handling and cleaning waterer.

  • A pole makes cleaning and filling your birdfeeders simple. Bird feeder poles are also a great way to discourage bird-eating cats and squirrels from pouncing on your feathered guests

User questions & answers

Question: Are the plastic extension arms available separately? Where
Answer: This rope is a standard twine. While we do not offer the twine as a replacement part, a local hardware store may have something similar in stock. We are happy to offer additional tips to help prevent squirrels from damaging the feeder, please feel free to contact our Consumer Relations Team at 1-855-PERKYPET (1-855-737-5973) for additional assistance.
Question: How would I mount my bluebird box (house) to this pole? I can't tell from the photo or specs. Thanks
Answer: This feeder can be pole mounted with an adapter such as the http://www.amazon.com/Perky-Pet-5107-4-Universal-Bird-Feeder/dp/B000ARO9VY/ref=sr_1_1?s=lawn-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1442688856&sr=1-1&keywords=5107-4
Question: How does this pole sit in the ground? How deep do you have to dig and and how high does the top of the pole then sit
Answer: Yes - the roof just lifts off easily - it is just resting on top of the structure. The plexiglass is removable - it just slides into grooves on the side so it is not fastened to the main base unit in any way so you can easily pull them out.
Question: I need a pole that is 9-10 feet above ground? Can you buy two kits to achieve the 9-10 feet I need
Answer: We have never had this problem but we also had to change the rope it hangs on. We changed to wire because the squirrels ate through the rope. I am not sure how the roof can blow off if there is rope running through it but I think that some sort of clip or clothes pin should hold it down. Squirrels occasionally push up the cover and climb in and the clip might stop this.

Perky Pet Universal Bird Feeder & Bird House Pole

Create a bird-friendly oasis in your very own backyard with help from this Universal Bird Feeder & Bird House Pole from Perky-Pet. This convenient pole makes it possible to add more feeders to your outdoor space, attracting an even greater number and variety of birds--plus it helps keep food and feeding birds a safe distance away from squirrels and predators, like the neighbor's not-so-innocent-looking house cat. Use this pole to either securely stake a feeder into the ground or to securely hang a feeder. It can also be used to stake or hang a bird house.

Durable Design

A sleek, stylish addition to any yard, this universal pole features durable steel construction with a rust-resistant finish that stands up to the elements from one season to the next, year after year. Wind, rain, snow, heat--no problem.

7-Foot Pole

This universal pole measures 7 feet high, so after staking it into the ground, it can keep a bird feeder at least 5 feet above the ground. A distance of 5 feet off the ground is higher than squirrels can jump, so they won't be bothering the birds or raiding the stash. The height also helps discourage overly curious cats in the neighborhood. To install, simply lower the 1-inch-diameter pole down into the sleeve that you've buried in an ideal location of your yard. The pole can be removed quickly and easily as needed--a useful feature when it's time to mow the lawn.

Extension Arm Included

As an alternative to staking a feeder or bird house, this 7-foot steel pole can also be used to hang a feeder thanks to its included extension arm in matching silver. The gently curved extension arm has a notch at the end to keep a hanging-only feeder securely in place, and a universal adapter is included for wood feeders.

Convenient Addition to Any Collection

This 7-foot steel pole makes it possible to place a bird feed outside your window so you can delight in watching beautiful wild birds feeding and frolicking about. Choose a location that not only provides a great view, but that is also bird friendly. Birds prefer an open space and a location that gets both sun and partial shade during the day. An ideal location will be within 15 feet of nearby coverage, like bushes and shrubs. As an added benefit, this steel pole creates convenient access to the feeder when it's time to clean and fill the feeder.

User questions & answers

Question: Will thistle seed go in this without falling to the ground
Answer: This feeder is not designed for thistle seed.
Question: I own this model and really like it, but the plastic seed tube has broken. Does Perky-Pet make a replacement part
Answer: We apologize, but due to low demand replacement parts are no longer available. This feeder is covered by a one-year replacement warranty. Please contact our Consumer Relations Team at 1-855-PERKYPET (1-855-737-5973) for additional assistance.
Question: Are replacement plastic inserts available for this feeder? Raccoons did a number on my feeder. All metal parts are intact. The seed tube is trashed
Answer: At this time, replacement tubes are not available for this feeder. We apologize for any inconvenience. Please feel free to contact our Consumer Relations Team at 1-855-PERKYPET (1-855-737-5973) with any questions.
Question: It looks like the squirrels could easily reach in to get seed? I have squirrel problems, does anyone recommend a cheap but good squirrel proof feeder
Answer: I have never found a squirrel proof feeder, they will figure out how to get to the seeds. After about 10 years of trying everything we finally have a squirrel proof feeding station. An upside down washing machine drain pan (the larger one) attached to a 4 X 4 post as a feeding platform. The platform has to be at least 5’ off the ground & 5’ away from anything a squirrel can climb on. Then we had to put a metal stove pipe around the 4 X 4 post. On top of the feeding station we have 3 feeders, now everyone is happy. The squirrels can scavenge any seeds that get dropped on the ground & we can afford to feed the birds!

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q. What is the importance of providing water for wild birds?

Waterers are better options than bird baths because they provide birds with fresh, clean water that prevents dirt and debris from contaminating it.

Niger won't germinate, however, it has a tendency to become moldy due to lack of air circulation.

User questions & answers

Question: Does it work with bluebird nuggets
Answer: Yes
Question: Will it work for sunflower seeds
Answer: Our mix is Sam's brand, a (40 pound bag), mostly sunflower seeds, even has broken peanuts and some fruit in the mix so sunflower seeds are no problem in ours. This feeder don't have to be removed from it's hanging place, just push the button to raise the roof and pour the seeds in. Ours is 1.5 years old and in Fla and is still fine.
Question: Doesn’t thetray get wet when it rains
Answer: The tray doesn't get wet when it rains. I have lots of birds when it rains. I like this feeder better than any other one I have had.
Question: Does it have a hook to hang it by or do I have to purchase additional item
Answer: There is a closed loop so a hook is not needed, but it really depends on where you are hanging it. The tree branch my feeder is on is very thick, so I use a hook. This is the hook I use http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000HHM43W?cache=ca2fa0ab5f9026c637a6d291178931c6#ref=mp_s_a_1_1&qid=1393265549&sr=8-1 there are 2 sizes available
Question: Does the tray have holes in it so if water does get in it drips out? I'm concerned about the tray collecting water and moldy seeds
Answer: This is probably the best feeder I have for keeping seeds from getting moldy. I use it for golden safflower and it dries out quickly if it gets wet or snowed on. The tray does have plenty of holes but is shallow so sometimes there is a small amount of build up of wet seed to wipe off but very easy to do.
Question: I have a problem with morning doves eating the safflower seed that I put out for cardinals. Does anyone know if doves can sit on this feeder
Answer: Carefully wire the mesh up so that the sitting area is shorter. I did this , little by little, until I got to the height that the morning dives could NOT get on the feeder. Cardinals and smaller birds can still easily feed. Also use safflower seed which eliminates alot of unwanted birds!
Question: Is this supposed to be squirrel proof
Answer: Or.....you can put a squirrel feeder for ears of corn nearby so the squirrels have some place to feed.
Question: Does this feeder work with mixed bird seed? Or only with black oil sunflower seed
Answer: No. I only use it for black oil sunflower seed. If you use mixed bird seed then the seed will all fall out from the large holes.Several times the squirrels will climb onto the top and tilt it but the sunflower seed will not fall out. Also, it really is squirrel-proof cause the squirrels can only get one seed at a time since the top locks.I love this feeder - it is the best for all birds!
