Answer:	I found out that red dye is unhealthy for hummingbirds. One cup sugar to 4 cups water, heat to almost boiling but remove from heat before it boils. Also clean the feeder each time before filling.

Answer:	You can easily make your own in 3-4 minutes with plain water and white sugar. I bet you have some in your cupboard right now! Do you have a pyrex bowl or glass measuring cup? Fill it with two cups of water and add 1/2 cup sugar. This is a ratio of 1 part sugar to 4 parts water. Stir it and microwave for 2-3 minutes. Stir again and microwave a minute more. Cool it to room temp., and your (cheap$$) nectar is ready to fill your hummingbird feeder. Then, be patient. They may not come right away, but birds will tweet the location, and eventually you'll get visitors. Companies who sell red-dye nectar are profiting from a product that is both unnecessary and harmful. It is shameful and can be discouraged by simply refusing to buy them.

Answer:	The nectar does have a preservative in it to help keep it fresh. Depending on how many birds you have coming to the feeders refrigeration after opening keeps it fresh for months, even over the winter if in higher latitudes. I'm in St. Louis and my feeders are in full sun so I only put enough in the feeders to last 10 - 14 days then clean rinse and refill. It was amazing how much more the birds liked the Kaytee clear nectar. I'll never use anything else. BTW if the nectar gets too old they will just stop feeding.

However I will let you know that I didn't get any hummingbirds with this mixture but after making my own I had quite a few everyday. 1 cup sugar to 4 cups water, bring to boil for 2 minutes and then let cool. Store leftovers in the refrigerator. I just adjusted the quantities and made enough for 2 feeders.

But do realize that they should be migrating South for the winter so you may not see any. Or you may see lots since they seem to still be on the move and very hungry, at least in my area of northern california. I had dozens this afternoon, but soon they should be gone until spring. Answer:	I have 3 of the models offered here: 2 Ruby, 1 Diamond & 1 Orion/Twist; I've never experienced any "bee" or "ant" issues. I take down my feeders every 3 days in warm weather, dump the remaining homemade nectar (the only nectar I use and without any food coloring) and thoroughly wash all parts, inspect for mold and air dry. Warm weather I do this every 3 or 4 days. Once with another hummingbird feeder I had ant issues but it had a holder that was staked into a flower pot...never used it again.

Question:	I bought a lot of the 40 ounce feeders and i freaked out with a lot of swarming bees all of them! i’m praying this will make them go away
Answer:	I have 3 different kinds of feeders. These Nectar Guard Tips would not fit on any of them. Maybe they only work on the one feeder pictured with the tips. I understand! We had bees the last two years. We had never had them around the feeders before. We've had no bees this year!! Google has some suggestions. They didn't work for us.

Answer:	No, they didn't work on any of my feeders. I don't believe they would keep ants out, because the hummer has to stick his tongue into and down through this tip. I assume an ant could also get through.

Question:	How do i get a replacement base
Answer:	I have 2 of your hummingbird feeders and I just love them. My problem is that when the temperature gets hot outside 70 to 80 degrees they both start leaking around the rim of the base all over the patio. If it is not that warm out they don’t leak at all. I have tried putting in new ring sealers and that still doesn’t help. Should I get new bases?

Answer:	I’m not seeing any kind of ring. The glass part just screws on with about 1 1/2 inch of treads.

Answer:	I purchased mine almost a year ago. Never leaked until the last couple of weeks. Considering a new one. Have not spent the time to see if there is anything I can do with the existing feeder. I, and the hummingbirds have enjoyed it.
Question:	I am getting leaks out of the feeder holes. How can that be fixed
Answer:	We've had this feeder since April, about a month ago it started leaking. There is an rubber seal around the bottom that is supposed to keep the water in, but not matter how we adjust it or how tightly the part is screwed in, there are pretty serious leaks. It's getting the hummbird juice all over the place! If there is no solution this product is defective -- it should last longer than 6 months.

Answer:	I have used it with several large glass feeders. It works fantastic. I had a big ant problem before, and no ants for two seasons with the ant guard.

Answer:	Sorry, it does not repel bees. It only keeps ants out of the feeder.

Answer:	The length between hooks would be approximately 2.75". The entire piece, including hooks, would be around 4.5".
Question:	what poison is used and how installed
Answer:	There is a small solid disc that must contain the poison/repellent. It is not accessible to birds or animals. It does not kill the ants but they will not cross it and are discouraged from trying to reach the feeder. Some of mine have lasted several years. The hooks have broken after the years of constant exposure and my husband has attached a metal hook and they still work.
