User questions & answers

Question: Is there a cover or carrying bag made for Jumbo Joe Gold
Answer: RECOMMENDATION: IF your seeking a cover; USE the WEBER 6551 (weberQ 2000/2200 cover) for the Jumbo Joe; works great!
Question: Will the box fit on a large suitcase of 30" x 19.5"x 8.5" ? Or Unassembled
Answer: I'm not positive, but I think it would fit. The bowl part is close to 8.5 inches. If they are nested together it might just go.
Question: Is the vent on the bottom the same kind as the one on the top cover
Answer: They are not the same but the top vent is hard to turn it will scratch your top cover it happened to me I don't recommend this grill my cheap $20 Wal-Mart grill is way better
Question: Can I use this as a small 'firepit' bowl on my patio? Much cheaper than 'real' ones
Answer: I used the smaller Smokey Joe as a fire pit. It works but since they are designed to burn quickly down to coals, it seemed the wood went pretty fast. We were using pretty dry loose juniper wood though so it may perform better with a different wood.

User questions & answers

Question: Does anyone know what the weight and dimensions of the boxed grill are
Answer: Hi! The box dimensions of the Q2200 are L: 32.5" x W: 18.2" x H: 17.6" with a weight of 43.5lbs. Thanks!
Question: All the dimensions I see are with the lid open and the side platforms extended. What are the "buttoned up" dimensions with the lid closed
Answer: Contacted Weber (800) 446-1071 Rep said it was approximately, since she had to go to floor and measure, lid closed tables retracted Q2200 is 27 inches long, Q1200 17 inches long
Question: how long does small propane canister last
Answer: I get 2 1/2 hours out of a Coleman disposable cannister using this way: 1. 8 minutes on high to preheat. 2. Turn down to 1/2 heat when I toss on my steak. 3. Steaks take around 4 to 6 minutes depending on thickness. I cooked exactly as above thru 3 canisters, and used a timer each time I fired it up and extinguished it. I have since converted over to a full size propane tank - I just wanted to see how long the canisters would last.
Question: Can anyone tell me the footprint of the legs? I need to know the length and width on the legs footprint
Answer: I don't have this grill yet, but I plan to buy it for my camper soon. The most common unanswered question I've seen about this grill is the closed dimensions, which you would think Weber would publicize, considering it's meant to be a compact, portable grill. Because of this, I went into a Home Depot yesterday, and measured the floor model. The width, with the side shelves closed, is 32 inches. The height, with the lid closed, is 15.5 inches. The depth, with the lid closed, measured from the front of the handle to the back of the hinges is 18.5 inches. The feet have a footprint of 21 inches wide by 15 inches deep. The side tables are about 12 inches wide, and they do fold to inside of the grill when not in use. The grilling surface, measured at its longest points, is 22 inches wide by 16 inches deep. The grilling surface does taper somewhat towards each end. There are two grilling grates, so one can be replaced with the griddle. The grate does have an integrated "cover" over the burner. The regulator does look like it is screwed in, so can be removed to attach it to another regulated source like that on a camper. I couldn't try to unscrew it in store, because the regulator is held in place with a couple screws.

User questions & answers

Question: Is the the Q1200 model compatible with the Weber 6557 Q portable cart
Answer: The 6557 Q Portable Cart is absolutely compatible with Weber Q 1000 and 2000 series grills.
Question: Can I use this on the tailgate of my truck or does it burn too hot and will melt the plastic cover on the tailgate
Answer: The grill is designed for table top use and should be fine for your tail gate. If you are worried, put a couple of large tiles or some other fire resistant material under the grill. I would be more worried about placing hot utensils or pans on the gate.
Question: How long do the small canisters last
Answer: I just started with a fresh, 4th canister of 16.4 oz. LP. I used up each of the last 3 canisters within 5 grilling sessions, about 5 hours total per canister and cooking between 350 to 450 F degrees. From my experience, a 16.4 oz canister of LP lasts between 4.5 - 5 hours, depending on grilling temperature. A pack of four 16.4 oz LP canisters cost $12.99 at Lowes.
Question: Does the adapter hose need to be purchased for general use
Answer: No, you can use the small propane tanks which will be good for several cook outs, approx. 3 hours on low flame. We are in an RV so I use the small tanks for one or two nights stops and when camping for a week I use the 20# propane bottle with the adapter to do cooking. Cost about $25.00, but handy to have. Hope this information is useful for you.

Weber Q1200 Series Portable Gas Grill

Notice how sturdy the shroud feels as it opens smoothly on its hinges? See how the burners roar to life on the very first try? Delighted by how simple it is to achieve a mouthwatering meal every time? It's no accident. Weber spends countless hours perfecting the grilling systems on its gas grills, assuring easy assembly, an evenly heated cooking surface, and precision controls so you can tone things down or up to the perfect heat level for direct or indirect cooking.

Cookbox and Shroud

The cookbox houses the components of the cooking system: cooking grates, burner tubes, and the grease management system.

Made of cast aluminum, Weber's gas-grill cookboxes are durable, efficient, require minimal care and maintenance, and can withstand the heat needed to grill at any temperature. In addition, the shape of the cookbox, when combined with the shroud, allows for the proper circulation of heat around food for even cooking whether you're using direct or indirect heat.

Cooking Grates

Weber gas-grill cooking grates come in three exceptional materials: porcelain-enameled steel, stainless steel, and porcelain-enameled cast iron. Each type retains heat evenly and sears food beautifully. Porcelain-enameled steel cooking grates are durable and easy to clean. Stainless steel rod cooking grates make lovely sear marks, hold heat very well, and clean up with ease. Porcelain-enameled cast-iron cooking grates combine the ease of porcelain-enameled with the superior heat retention of cast-iron.

Burner Tubes

Weber's burners are made of high-grade stainless steel, which will stand up to the small amounts of water found in liquid propane and natural gas. The burner tubes are made of a singular piece of steel with no welds, making them stronger and more resistant to rust and burn-through. Weber gas-grill burner tubes can be cleaned easily by gently brushing with a Weber stainless-steel grill brush.

The burners are spaced to provide heat across the entire cooking grate. The burner valve has infinite control settings, so you can fine-tune the heat levels.

Grease Management

When juices drip off the meat, they funnel down into the grease management system. The grease management system consists of an angled grease tray and catch pan. The grease tray rests beneath the cookbox a safe distance from the burner tubes to prevent the grease from catching fire. Grease is channeled down the grease tray and into the catch pan. Both the grease tray and catch pan are easy to clean. The tray easily slides out of the cabinet for cleaning, and when the catch pan starts to fill, simply remove the disposable drip pan, toss it in the trash, and replace it with an empty pan.

Tradition

When George Stephen created the first Weber grill, he wanted to be able to bring his family together for a good meal. He insisted on a product that would exceed customers' expectations.

In the years since then, the Weber name has become synonymous with backyard barbecues and the family, friends, and good times that go with them. At Weber, they continue that tradition of excellence in everything they do from the development of new grills and accessories to the services they provide to customer and dealers.

Innovation

From the very beginning, Weber revolutionized backyard grilling. Since then, they have continued to develop products that enhance the grilling experience. From the original kettle with heat controlling dampers to electronic temperature controls and Flavorizer bars, Weber continues to be at the forefront of modern grilling, making the backyard a part of your kitchen.

Performance

Weber grills have been and will continue to be the true definition of performance in backyard grilling. Whether you're cooking a basic burger or an extensive meal, Weber grills are designed and engineered to give you the best performance every time.

Service

Service is of the utmost importance at Weber. Their Customer and Dealer Service associates work every day to ensure that their customers and dealers have the support they need.

User questions & answers

Question: how to position a 5 gallon tank under the cart
Answer: It won't work without modifying the feet. I am pretty sure that the feet of the three digit model numbers e.g. 100, 120, etc are too thick to fit the stand. I filed the feet down to get them to fit. There is a notice in fairly small print on the front of the box that states the only model numbers for which this stand is intended and warning that it will not fit the three digit model numbers.
Question: will this stand work on my weber Q 100 grill
Answer: No, This cart does not work for the Q220. I made the mistake of believing the people who said it does here on amazon. The base of the q220 does not fit into the brackets that hold the grill down.. Yes the grill will sit on top the the car, but it will not be secured.
Question: Does this cart work with the Weber 566002 Q 220 Portable 280-Square-Inch 12000-BTU Liquid-Propane Gas Grill
Answer: Yes it does
Question: does this work for the Q2400 electric
Answer: Yes perfect for pasta, just the right size.

User questions & answers

Question: What are the assembled measurements of this grill? Height x diameter. Thanks
Answer: Pretty close to what I got...I came up with 18 inches high, but it's hard to measure. 14 3/4 to 15 is a good diameter.
Question: how does it compare to the Smokey Joe Gold grill
Answer: Here's what I put in my review: "The reviews for the gold suggested that the silver was a better option for two reasons: the ash catcher tray and the fact that the holes were on the bottom rather than the side. The Gold cannot have ashes removed unless the coals are out and the charcoal rack can be removed. After using the silver, I question what good the ash catcher tray is. How do you clean it out while charcoals remain lit or unlit in the grill? With a tiny little brush or shovel? It's cute.As for the holes on the bottom. This is all well and good until your charcoal crumbles and the ashes clog the holes. And if you have the lid on, the charcoals go out. And you wonder why your hamburgers are not cooked. Having the holes on the side would keep air flow, regardless of crumbling charcoals.Third, the Gold has a handle, which would make this easier to move. After the fact, I discovered that Cook's Illustrated has reviewed portable grills, and they included the Gold in their review, but not the silver."
Question: Can anyone recommend this grill vs. the Smokey Joe Gold Vs. the Go Anywhere Grill? I don't want to travel with grill and want to use in a screened in porch. Thanks
Answer: The Silver has an air damper at the bottom. The Gold does not. The Gold allows you to lock the lid to the kettle for easier transportation. For open grilling, both will do the same job. With both models, you can easily starve airflow to the fire in case of flare-ups. The Go Anywhere is designed to be portable, and with a rectangular surface area, it allows for a different arrangement of food and charcoal. The go anywhere allows for stacking your charcoal on one side, so that you can have a hot side and cool side. With both the Silver and Gold models, the coals are usually right in the middle unless you use a patio brick or some other improvised device to keep the coals on one side. Depending on what you plan on cooking, you may prefer the rectangular grill surface. The Go Anywhere, with the rectangular design, is better for travel and storage. The Go Anywhere has two dampers on top, and dampers along the bottom, for better control over airflow. The Silver has a damper on the top, and a damper on the bottom. The Gold only has the damper on the lid; simple enough to extinguish heat with, but not the ideal way to feed fresh air to the coals. With the Go Anywhere's rectangle shape, you'll be able to use more of the available square inches for ribs that won't fit the Silver & Gold. At the end of the day, none of these units are designed to cook larger cuts of meat. If you get your butcher to cut a 3 bone standing rib roast from the end with the smaller bones, you can get it on the grill - but closing the lid over your roast is another matter. All three can do a small cut of brisket, a whole chicken if you butterfly or quarter it, pork loins, pork butt, and just about anything that you can close the lid on - if you get good enough to be able to control the temperature. The real trick to turning out great food, with all three of these grills and any other grill for that matter, is temperature control. Master the flame, and you could turn out everything from smoke trout to wood fired pizza. The true adventurist will even use it as a fire pit for wok cooking. Or keep it simple with these little grills, and stick to kebabs, burgers, hot dogs, short ribs, and steaks.
Question: How high does the grill stand without the lid? Thanks
Answer: Hello, had to put my beer down and go measure it. it is 12" high without the lid. I just put mine on a set of cinder blocks so you don't have to bend down all day while cooking, or you can put it on a picnic table as long as it is not plastic. I love mine. take care

User questions & answers

Question: Where are these made
Answer: Hello, this tool set is made in China, and it carries a 2 year warranty. Thanks!
Question: Will these fit inside the Smokey Joe Silver for storage/transport
Answer: No. They are 14.5" long. We do not believe they will fit. Thank you for your inquiry.
Question: are they dishwasher safe
Answer: I'm sorry but I can't verify they are dishwasher safe as we wash ours by hand immediately after using. Due to their relatively rugged construction I would have to presume they would be however. I will say I do like using them and definitely believe them to be worth what I paid. Good luck!
Question: What is the length of these
Answer: 14 inches. I love my set. They have washed well in the dishwasher, and are sturdy.
