Question:	Can I use this for making cheese? TY
Answer:	I've used it quite successfully for cheese making for years. Also; to me the way the timer sounds off is very good. I can hear it well from the next room. It doesn't just make one beep, it continues as it counts down for 1 minute. I could miss just one beep but won't miss this one minute of sounding. It's been a great little tool that I've used everyday for for 5 or 6 years until my son dropped it in the soup yesterday. Today I'm ordering a new one. SEVERAL HOURS LATER, SAME DAY: **CORRECTION!** It's now working! I guess I hadn't given it enough time to dry out. I'm buying a new one anyway to use the timer in my office.

Answer:	It is designed to do EXACTLY that. The wire is thin and flexible enough not to interfere with the oven seal. Probe in the bird (thickest part of thigh), display can be magnetically stuck outside the oven somewhere or just on the counter.
Question:	Will high temperatures damage the probe
Answer:	I regularly use by probe in a 440 degree (F) oven with no problems. My oven runs hot, so the temperature is closer to 450.

Answer:	Be very wary of the temperature that you cook at with the probe in the oven. The protective coating on the wires is only good up to 200 degrees Celsius (392 degrees Fahrenheit) and having the probe and cord in the oven over this temperature will lead to rapid damage and failure (mine failed in an oven at 450 degrees Fahrenheit in less than 3 minutes). The probe/wire is NOT covered by warranty.

Answer:	Well, I don’t think there is an option to calibrate. It’s like a normal thermometer that senses heat and reports the reading. It doesn’t require any calibration to be 100% accurate for cooking purposes....

Answer:	I love this product but this is definitely a design flaw. I find that you need to press the "off" button until the device shuts off and the screen is clear. A quick press will not do it. Also, it seems that, because the On/Off button is shared, your finger may need to be more positioned towards the "off" side. Hope this helps!!!!

Answer:	Polder Customer Service Hi, Thank you for your inquiry. Unfortunately, this has only been tested using Polder thermometers and we do not have the specs for our competitors to give you an accurate answer.
Question:	Is this an in oven thermometer or just instant read? Concerned the plastic will melt if left in the oven
Answer:	Not instant read and Not plastic. Silicon. Don't use it under a broiler on high and you'll be fine in an oven (good for 500f, so roasts are pretty much the target application ).
Question:	Can I use this to replace the probe from another brand
Answer:	I found that this probe works perfectly with a William Sonoma gizmo I bought ~ 10 years ago - no model markings and I don't think they sell it anymore, sorry. It is much better than the original probe, having a durable temp-resistant grip. It has a 2.5mm male connector, which is thinner than, e.g., analog iPhone jacks. If your old iPhone buds fit in your device, this probe definitely won't work. Probably won't anyway (see below for tech details). Note mostly for hobbyists: contra Marc, this is not a thermocouple of any standard type. Neither is it an RTD of either standard platinum variety. Thermocouple and RTD resistance at 20C/68F ranges roughly from 10-1000 ohms. This probe is roughly 200 kOhms. You can get good readings from it as part of a voltage divider, but calibration is up to you.

Answer:	Yes, this one is sturdy and the clip works well. As I mentioned in the review, the bulb is up about 1/2" above the bottom so you need to use a pan that will haveat least that depth of liquid in it in order to get a good reading.
Question:	Will this work on ANY TYPE OF SAUCEPAN ?? Will it fit WOKS while deep-frying? I mean high-sided, straight-sided, pot-shaped pots etc
Answer:	The clip is adjustable - it slides up and down according to how deep you need it and it will expand to fit over the side of any pot. I use it on a large thick glass measuring cup when I'm making yogurt and it stays put perfectly. I haven't tried it on a slant sided wok, but I think that - because of the metal stand on the bottom that protects the bulb - it would still be ok.
Question:	Does anyone know if the numbers fade fast or do they last through candy making and washes
Answer:	I use mine for candy making almost daily. The numbers do come off after a while, but I give mine a work out. I am ordering my 3rd one today. But they tend to last me 18 months which is an excellent price for how often I use mine. This last one probably has 900 batches of 300 degree candy under it's belt. And they are always accurate!!

Answer:	Yes Donna, there is an irritating little beep after every keystroke. And if you set a countdown time, the beeper annoys you until you shut it off... Exactly what I wanted in a timer... Have two of them pasted to the side of my fridge, and don't know why I ever tried those others... Trust me, simple is better!
Question:	when the timer goes off and you hit stop, does it automatically revert back to zero or does it stay on previous settings-i.e. if you are making mulitple batches of cookies, does it need to be reset each time, or does it hold last setting
Answer:	The timer stays on previous setting. For instance, if I am baking and want to not overcook but not sure of exact time, I set 10 minutes which alerts me to check what I'm baking. Then, if I know it needs another 10 minutes, I just hit start again and the 10 will repeat. If I need to erase and enter 5 minutes, I do that. I hope that helps.
