Answer: No, it does not keep food from burning on the bottom if you leave it in the oven too long. It is used in place of parchment paper. It is used to keep whatever you are baking from sticking to your metal pan without adding grease to the bottom of your food.

Question: Does it say anywhere on the packaging that the mat that comes with this baking sheet is non-toxic/ made of pure silicone? Thanks in advance
Answer: I threw away the packaging months ago. None of the sheets are pure silicone as the 'grid' in them appears to be fiberglass (SiO2) which isn't the same as the encompassing material. I've never had any strange smells or tastes come from mine and it gets used about three times a week. The sheet works the same as my Silpat (for a half sheet baking sheet) and seems to clean a bit easier.
Question: Why don't Irwin post the picture that is actually the style they are now making and selling ? This lead picture is misrepresenting the product
Answer: I was wondering the same when I bought the chisels several years ago. I also wrote in my comments that handles in reality are not as shown in the picture.

Question: what is the rockwell hardness of these chisels
Answer: Without taking them to a lab, one would have to guess what the hardness is. I did however flatten the backs down and sharpen them with a tool grinder. The sparks coming off were compound which would indicate it isn't mild steel. The company claims RC 58 to RC 61 on the Rockwell C Scale, which is the traditional hardness range of English manufacturers for keen edge tools.

Question: How is this when baking cookies
Answer: That's purely subjective, because everyone has their own preference for cookie texture. Personally, I never use silicone mats for cookies. I use parchment, and I only use that to keep my commercial-grade half sheets looking good. Until I got them 8-10 years ago, I baked cookies without anything on the pans. I like cookies with a nice crisp - not crunchy - exterior on all sides from the caramelized sugars and butter, and chewy goodness inside. I don't get that exterior with silicone mats at the lower temps used when baking cookies, 375 degrees max for my recipes. I don't like other people's cookies for that reason, to me a mouthful of meh. And that's just me. Most people seem to like soft cookies. Hope this helps?

Answer: Maufacturers state "Non-Stick Silicone Baking Mats are effective in temperatures from minus 40 F to 480 F ( minus 40 C to 280 C )". I have used mine with the oven set at 500 F. I would not use it at any higher temperature. My daughter is a chef and she gave me my first one. She told me to adjust the bake time if a reipe called for temps higher then 500 F if I used the silicone mat. Sometimes the results whoud not be the same, so I use a baking stone or metal plat for my baguettes and other items that require heat greater then 500 F. Hope this helps. Richard

Question: What material is used to make the copper grill mat
Answer: Garbage, the smell is very bad, use of cheap material. These mats are very thin. After two uses, one has a tear in it. Never use anything sharp on it. Very disappointed in performance.

Answer: When I first used it, stain resistant is a load of bovine scatology. It stains like crazy and no amount of scrubbing removes the stains. These item are listed as "Copper" mats, but examining, they are definitely not copper and instead are made from a synthetic teflon type material. I am very disappointed for the false advertising that caused me to purchase this product，don’t waste your money.
Question: How it can be cleaned completely
Answer: We just lay it in the bottom of our sink and apply Dawn dish soap and scrub it with a sponge until all the grime is cleaned off. Even though it is clean, stains will remain. I use one pet season and use another for the next grilling season.

Answer: I was not pleased with the mats.The first time I used them to cook hamburgers they caught on fire. They are not easy to clean. What a mess I had trying to clean them. I tried them again for chicken and the chicken stuck to the mats. I will not buy these again.
