User questions & answers

Question: What are the wi-fi capabilities? Can it have its own wireless plan
Answer: It has Wi-Fi capabilities which is used to synchronize the device with the reMarkable app however there is no for a data plan on its own.
Question: how often do i need to change the marker Tip
Answer: I use my pad 2-3 hours a day for notes. I purchased it over Thanksgiving 2018 and it’s now the beginning of March 2019 and I’m on my second tip with probably a month left. I’m not a heavy presser when I write, but even so, I can’t imagine going through a tip in two weeks. The pad comes with eight tips and I bought an extra eight thinking I’d be replacing much more frequently - so I probably have 2+ years supply of tips.
Question: Can you transfsr text to microsoft word
Answer: The ReMarkable does not as yet interface with File or Cloud systems well. You can write in a Notebook and select "A" Text recognition to convert it. But, you then have to send the converted file to an eMail address to get it out of the tablet. You can then Cup & Paste it into word - remember to write clearly.
Question: Can I use this with my Kindle account
Answer: No, the reMarkable does not currently have support for Kindle books, unfortunately, since books from Amazon are DRM protected. We do hope to add support for books from some retailers in the future, but it's quite difficult to say for certain at the moment, because it's partly up to the retailers themselves whether they wish to open their books to the reMarkable or not. Our hope is that it will be possible in the future.

User questions & answers

Question: How many pages the notebook has
Answer: 16 pages...if you count front and back 32 pages. Plenty I think.
Question: Can you use any pen to write in the notebook
Answer: No, you have to use Pilot's Frixion line of writing products - the notebook will come with one to get you started. They offer a few different types of pens, markers and highlighters.
Question: What type of material is the book made of? Is it hard, sturdy plastic? Water resistant
Answer: Space age materials!! It will not soak up water. Water will not destroy it but if you get it wet all the ink will be removed. It is a plastic like material. It is flexible and not rigid.
Question: If i scan a page of notes to word or google docs, would it be an image or would it essentially type it out for me and allow me to edit the text
Answer: If you email the document to yourself, it can do OCR transcription in the text of your email or as an attachment as well as PDF. You then have to copy/paste it to word or docs. It requires pretty neat handwriting and of course isn’t perfect, but it definitely can save some time typing.

User questions & answers

Question: Does it have a SD card slot
Answer: It does not look like the device power is PWM (pulse width modulated) because it is electronically controlled (unlike other resistive or infrared hot plates). However, that's not to say that the power output going in the coil is not duty cycled. Assuming that a power level is indeed achieved by PWM, you should have a circuit that's capable of always delivering 15A and a pan that's thick enough to have some thermal lag.
Question: How is this different from the other kindle
Answer: 5 feet
Question: What is the difference between "with special offers" and "without special offers" other than price
Answer: No. The amount of energy required for this much volume to be boiling is more than this unit can give you. That does not mean that eventually (probably after 1 or 2 hours) you will achieve boiling point but there will be heat losses from your container. The heat is generated by the metal that is in contact with the induction coil which is about 4 to 5 inches. The rest of the heat is transferred from that area to the rest of the container via conduction. So, make sure you have a very efficient container (enameled cast iron maybe). Even so, you should probably try doing your brewing in smaller batches. :) ... 8 gallons... c'mon man!
Question: Does this tablet accept android apps? If not what apps can it use
Answer: I've used it with a 2 cup saucepan.
