| Answer: | I used the Rain Reserve 2012312 Rain Barrel Connector Kit which I bought on Amazon. It works well and is nice as the tubing is flexible making connection easy. But the flexibility is also a deficit as the durability of the tubing is limited and replacement tubing is a bit expensive. You can get more life if you remove in winter (if you are in a cold region). I simply replaced the flexible tubing with PVC to get more life. |

| Answer: | I left it hooked up, as for the last few years (MD). The hose to the garden is buried and water does not accumulate above spigot level. I also put a 2x4 in it in case water did accumulate. If you disconnect barrel, you should install a flexible extension on downspout to divert water away from foundation. |

| Answer: | There are two "taps" at the top of the rain barrel -- one is your inflow from the gutter and the other is the overflow outflow. The tube from the gutter and the overflow are NOT included but can be bought at any hardware store (the rainflow diverter I have attached to my downspout includes the inflow tube). |

| Answer: | The only differences seem to be that the cascada (more expensive one) has the hose attached to the overflow and that the planter on top is removable. The cascada also seems to be one inch larger all around. Those are the only differences. I purchased a short (4-5 ft.) extension hose and attached it to the overflow..It was pretty inexpensive. I'm not sure if the removable planter makes a difference..There are no drainage holes either way..so there is a water build up..make sure you plant something that likes water. |

| Answer: | I suppose you could. Obviously some of the top is closed off because it is a planter, but the other portion -- the part that the downspout drains into -- is covered by a screen. You could remove that screen, of just leave it there and let water fall into it. But be aware that it is going to be far less efficient at collecting water if you aren't using a downspout. A downspout from your rain gutters helps collect all of the rain that falls on the wide surface area of your roof and channels it into that little opening. Compare that to simply the surface area of that little opening. That's a whole lot of rain you are not collecting. I'd advise against it. |

| Answer: | The metal bracket goes in a tiny hole on the top. The blue thing is a roll of teflon tape for the threads on the taps. The brass tap goes in the hole on the front. The black plastic tap goes on the bottom opening. Be careful installing them, the sealing is extremely fragile and will leak if you apply too much force. One of them on mine leaked from the get go and the bottom one started leaking when I moved the barrel. |

| Answer: | You should be able to find a large plastic flanged nut to match the threads of the spigot. The tricky part is to place the flanged nut on the inside at the hole. Might try to use double back tape to stick the jut to a yard stick and gently place it in front of the hole. A helper can then start to screw the spigot into the nut. Hope this helps. |

| Answer: | Yes the top comes off so that the throat is completely open. Below the planter, there is a "removable screen " to filter the grit, leaves, lizards(FL). I drill three holes in the planter portion to drain the accumulating water. I place my garden tools in that location. I raise my collector about 20 inches above the ground on a base make of 20 inch square cement patio blocks. That allows you to get a bucket under the spigot and eases the strain on my back. I now have two of these rain water collectors. One at each end of the home. They come with built in fittings to connect one to another as well. Do construct an 11/4 PVC overflow pipe to a spot in your garden, less you overflow and wash out the garden below in heavy rain. Use rubber connector joints and a screwdriver. You can also paint the collector to any color to match your home as well. The surface readily takes paint. Great value at the Amazon price. |
