Answer:	I have been using mine for several years and I am not strong enough to break it. I would think it must have either been misused or have a faulty weld. Contact the maker.

Answer:	The description says the tines are about 11-inches, the width of the entire head being 20-inches, with 5 steel teeth (meaning about 5" spacing between teeth).
Question:	Surely the bolts holding the handles to the tines were put on backwards. Do the nuts and open ends of the bolts catch a persons boots & ankles
Answer:	I have not had a problem with catching my boots on the bolts. But then I put the lock nuts on the outside so the ends of the bolts stick out away from where I step on the broad fork. If you did not assemble the handles onto the tool and the nuts are on the inside, then whoever assembled the tool did it wrong.
Question:	No washers enclosed in package. Should I get washers so it fits tightly or should the handles be loose
Answer:	No washers came with mine either, but, they are not needed. Just tighten the self locking nuts until the handles don't wiggle loosely and you are good to go. This is a quality tool and should last many years like mine has.

Answer:	Its pretty close to 40" inches from bottom of the tines to the top of the handle. Mine lost a tine each of the first two times I stuck it into the Georgia red clay. I'm a 63 year old small woman. It's a wimpy tool that I would not recommend, although I do use the two leftover tines to turn my compost pile. I purchased a Joseph Bentley garden fork and love it, it is also about 38 inches. I found it for $49 on Amazon years ago. Solid wood and stainless steel. I'll have it forever. Best of luck to you!

Answer:	This fork has a handle that is a few inches shorter than the standard spading fork, It is well-built, strong and a bit on the heavy side which makes it good for busting and turning dirt. It may be a little heavier than desired for turning compost. I prefer using a hay (pitch) fork in the compost pile. Though a hay fork has a long handle (which you can shorten, if desired), the tines are just right for turning loose compost.

Question:	Each fork tine has a 1-1/2"piece of plastic on the pointed end of the tine. do i remove this plastic or do i leave the plastic on the tines? thanks
Answer:	I would remove them if they slip off easily as they are probably shipping protectors; otherwise, it will make penetrating the soil more difficult. I do not recall that any of the forks that I have received had the tine protectors. The tines clean up easily and don't need protectors in use. The main risk on the tines is bending them when you catch a stiff tree root under the soil.

Question:	Does the metal rust
Answer:	I've had no problem with rusting. However, I keep my garden tools in my garage or tool shed and wipe them after each use. The metal prongs are pretty strong, and I have not experienced any bending or warping of the metal.
