User questions & answers
Question: | Is the X27 (36" handle) too long for a short (5'2") female |
Answer: | I am 6 feet 200lbs and the 36 " I have is a tad long. If it is too long for you it will lag behind the line of your arms which can cause you to hit log with the handle and possibly rebound on you. You might find it helpful to find a tool like a spade or bat and swing it with your arms at different lengths to see what is comfortable for you. Although they are likely to be lighter than an axe head. Your strength and weight are key elements in making the decision. You have to be able to get the head around so that it strikes the wood in line with your arms and lands accurately. Choking up on handle can make that alignment harder. Of course the best way is to try one out or a sledge hammer would give you a good answer. This splitting maul is excellent and sharp. The best I have used. I wish I had it when I was heating with wood. |
Question: | how to replace handle on Fiskars Axe |
Answer: | Fiskars products are warranted to the consumer purchaser to be free of defects in material and workmanship for as long as the consumer owns the product. Warranty does not cover sharpening, normal wear and tear, environmental factors, accidental damage, misuse, industrial/commercial use. well after a quick look at the warranty i think you may only get a replacement if it was shipped that way if it was wear and tear or anything like that it isnt their responsibility |
Question: | Brand new axe split a dozen dry logs. Corners of blade already slightly chipped. Never hit rocks or hard objects. Is this normal |
Answer: | My older Fiskars splitting axe, older than the X-series of Fiskars axes, has never been damaged from use. The blade has not been chipped out anywhere. It has been used almost entirely on 16" billets of oak, which has been reasonably straight-grained and not full of knots, although of course some knots have had to be split through. I cannot imagine how or why chipping of the blade would occur, unless it might be from glancing blows struck at an angle with perhaps a twisting motion of some kind not normal to the typically straight downward splitting blow. it's a head-scratcher. |
Question: | On a scale of 1-10, how useful is this super splitting axe against a zombie |
Answer: | With Zombies sometimes recovering from FATAL BLOWS it has always been my practice to follow-up with a GOOD WOOD CHIPPER. AMAZON sells a good 7HP Heavy Duty 212cc Gas Powered 3:1 Multi-Function Pro Wood Chipper Shredder https://www.amazon.com/GreatCircleUSA-Heavy-Duty-212cc-Powered/dp/B075SG6372/ref=sr_1_4?s=lawn-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1538798975&sr=1-4&keywords=wood+chipper This can be very messy but is made easier by cutting section with a chainsaw. I use the STIHL MS 271 FARM BOSS 20" bar. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does it come with a sheath |
Answer: | China |
Question: | Has anyone had a problem with the hollow handle breaking up |
Answer: | Mine says India! |
Question: | Are these new all-black handled models made in Finland like the X-series axes |
Answer: | The 16qt bowl is 4" deep (and 12" diameter, not included the lip around the top) For it's size, it weighs nearly nothing, making it super easy to pour and wash! |
Question: | Where is this axe made, Finland or China |
Answer: | The 3.5 liter bowl is 119mm or 4.75in tall. |
Question: | How does this lens go on the camera? No instructions were included. Help |
Answer: | Thank you for your interest in our products. The 5.5 quart bowl was not tested or evaluated for use in an instapot. We cannot recommend using the bowl in this manner. Happy Shopping |
Question: | will this fit my D5100 55mm-200mm |
Answer: | I don’t recall having a problem, but I guess I would use Goo-Gone and then wash the bowl in hot soapy water. |
Question: | how do I focus. Mounts fine but how do I get the camera to focus |
Answer: | I just put it on my food scale and I weighed it as 16.5 ounces, this is for the 3.5 Quart version, others will increase or decrease depending on the size. Not sure if that means there is some variability, as someone else weighed it around 15 ounces... but I would expect right around 16 ounces. |
Question: | Is this lens compatable with Nikon 5100, including AF |
Answer: | Thank you for your interest in our products. Please check out our quick seal silicone lids that are perfect for multiple bowls sizes. Key word search: Tovolo Quick Seal Silicone Clear. Happy Shopping. |
Question: | does it have a lock ,so zoom does not constantly slide out |
Answer: | Thank you for your interest in our products. Our Stainless Steel Mixing Bowls are not designed to be used within an instantpot. Happy shopping! |
Question: | will it fit the Nikon D |
Answer: | Mine is 6 1/4" inside diameter and 6 9/10" total if you measure the lip. It is 4" deep. This is the 1.5 QT size. It is a very good quality bowl, I bought 2 and use them for everything. |
Question: | I placed the lens onto my camera nikon D3200 and it will not auto focus as described in the details. Suggestions? If not i will have to send it back |
Answer: | Yes it works in the 3 quart. As mentioned by scouting mom it's too tall with the standard trivet. Seems to work fine with the trivet upside down. Does not interfere with lid. |
Question: | Will this work on my sony dsc-f828 cyber shot |
Answer: | The bowl ordered here is supposed to be a 2QT. It looks like a few people may have received the incorrect bowl. These bowls come in many sizes. I could see how easy it would be for the inventory to get confused. |
Question: | Does this work with a Nikon D |
Answer: | Mine are attached at a stump...made mushrooms out of it...but seems like 5-6" |
Question: | Will this work on my Nikon D |
Answer: | Measured height is 2 3/4” inches tall. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is the length of 28 inches inclusive of the head or just the handle |
Answer: | Yes axe lengths are measured from top of the head to bottom of the handle. |
Question: | I am 5'2" would the Fiskars 28" be a better choice for me than the 36" ? I want to split firewood into smaller pieces for my fire pit |
Answer: | That seems like it would be the better choice. I'm not sure if there's a weight difference between the 25 and the 27 but seems in your case the 25 would be better suited for you. |
Question: | |
Answer: | I purchased the Fiskars with the 36 inch handle for my son as a gift he is 5'9" and he really likes the longer handle. It really does split wood like they claim. I read a lot of reviews and from a 67 year woman to a 5'6" guy and every review that I read prefered the longer handle. There were people that purchased the 28" and liked it until they got the 36". I would watch the video as well as read the tons of reviews that are out there. The only draw back is now Fiskars is starting to have them made in China,to me that can only mean a lack of quality. When I made my purchase I made sure that the one I purchased came from Finland, that is where they were originally made. When I received it I could not believe how sharp this thing was and how light. It really has an awesome balance. But all and all I really think you would be really pleased with the longer handle. |
Question: | I am 5'6", which handle length would be best for my height, the 36" on the X27, or the 28" on the X |
Answer: | Probably the 28", but to be safe you can always get the 36" and choke up on it. Do you use a chopping block or split on the ground? If you always use a block, the 28" will probably work. |

Perfect as a secondary axe for quick jobs, the X11 is designed for easy one-handed use when splitting small logs. Like every X-Series Hatchet or Axe, the X11 combines perfected weight distribution, advanced blade geometry, an ultra-sharp edge and virtually unbreakable design to maximize your performance. This combination of features allows the blade to disperse wood more effectively, offering more one-strike splits with each swing. Since you can split wood more easily with the X11, each job requires less time, less effort and less hand strain. Unlike traditional axes that can be heavy, quick to dull and easy to break, X-Series axes combine perfected weight distribution, advanced blade geometry, an ultra-sharp edge and virtually unbreakable design to maximize your performance. Proudly made in Finland, the axes are designed to be simple, functional and effective, helping you get more work done in less time. This design earned the X-Series axes the international red dot "best of the best" product design award for the garden category in 2010, recognizing outstanding design quality and trendsetters. A wide range of sizes and styles makes it easy to find the X-Series axe perfect for you, whether you're chopping kindling, chopping logs, splitting logs or felling trees. X-Series axes combine innovative features for chopping axes that chop 3X deeper and splitting axes that offer more one-strike splits. All X-Series axes feature a smart design that distributes the majority of the weight to the axe head while keeping the stronger-than-steel FiberComp handle lightweight. This perfected weight distribution provides an optimal power-to-weight ratio that increases swing speed to multiply power, much like an aluminum baseball bat. X-Series axes give you more power at impact to help you get more done with every swing. The blades of X-Series axes are crafted with a proprietary grinding technique that provides a sharper edge for better contact and cleaner cuts. The hardened, forged steel blades also stay sharp longer than traditional axes, and a low-friction blade coating helps power through the tough logs and prevents the axe head from getting stuck. X-Series Splitting Axes also include advanced bevel convex blade geometry that adds even more power and disperses wood from the blade for cleaner, one-strike splits. X-Series axes don't just outlast other axes--they're virtually impossible to break. A shock-absorbing FiberComp handle is lightweight yet stronger than steel, so it can't be broken through overstrike. The hardened, forged steel blade won't chip or crack, and the innovative PermaHead design is over-molded so the blade can't be separated from the handle. Note: Images shown are of the Fiskars X25 or X27 Splitting Axe. This superbly designed, compact axe defies the concept of size matters. Fact is, a smaller axe has its place in the world. Canoe trips into the Northwest Territories when space is tight. Trail clearing when you want to travel fast and light. And in the hands of smaller-framed people tired of being bossed around by an overgrown axe. If any of the situations above describe you, this is your axe. Plus, it’s crafted with all the fine details of its bigger counterparts, including a unique wedge-shaped blade that takes fewer swings to bust through the toughest timber. The FiberComp fiberglass composite handle is many times stronger than traditional wood handles, yet it’s also light in weight and impervious to weather. Fiskars insert molded design prevents the head from ever loosening or separating from the handle. And a lifetime guarantee means you can trust to really hack it.

User questions & answers
Question: | What are the dimensions of the head? I need to buy a sheath |
Answer: | Yes, one piece steel. |
Question: | How much does it weigh? the X11, 17 inch |
Answer: | its solid metal, forged tool steel running the entire length of the handle as well. its also not small. 18 inches if measured with a measuring tape, it weighs 3 lbs and splits wood very well. |
Question: | What is the difference between this product and the normal hatchet |
Answer: | Campers Axe has a groove cut out above the blade for pulling tent stakes out of the ground. Sportsman hatchet doesn't have the groove. Also, Estwing Axes & Hammers with the red multicolored handles are leather grips. The blue and the black colored grips are made of nylon. |
Question: | Where is this manufactured |
Answer: | 3#s is starting weight for felling, 3 1/2 # ect., 5#-7# is a fellers axe but hard to find. So 3# is considered a "camp axe" not much for splitting and not much for felling. keep it "crazy sharp" and it will be a good week end campers axe. Its the handle that is top drawer. also the metal is above average for holding a working edge. Just don't try to make a living with it. I own two easting axes, a 4 # short handled kindling maker that I lock up when ever the neighbors come tool hunting and an east wing miners rock pick that I killed a marauding wolverine with. Yes I like east wing products. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Steel type |
Answer: | Did some digging for you. Best info I could find is: It's made from Forged carbon steel, HRC 50-56. Hope that helps. |
Question: | how do you sharpen it |
Answer: | Use a 4" grinder with a very fine flap wheel, and sharpen the blade WITH the slope of the head - not against. Use a diamond hone to finish it. |
Question: | On the description it says country of origin:China. On the website: Made in Finland. What's the deal |
Answer: | That's what I'm trying to figure out too. The fiskars website no longer says made in Finland. Just designed in Finland. And "Made in Finland" doesn't seem to be molded into the top of the handle on the axe head anymore. My 9 inch Gerber only says "Finland" on the head but it does say "Made in Finland" on the card it came attached to. I paid extra for that Gerber because I was able to ascertain that it really was made in Finland. I'm not have as much luck with this 14 inch. Too bad they don't include images of the card stock, box, whatever so a person can know beforehand. Usually I assume that when Country of Origin is not included it's because they're not very proud of what they've did. So I assume it's likely manufactured in China. I have some Svea 123 backpacking stoves. The old ones are stamped "Made in Sweden" and they really are. The new ones are simply stamped "Sweden" which isn't really a lie since the company is based there. You'd be surprised how many people see "Sweden" stamped on the stove base and take it to mean it was made in Sweden. My fear is that is what's happening here. People see "Finland" stamped on the axe head and read "Made in Finland" into it. Then again, maybe Fiskars doesn't play that game? BTW, I'm not saying it's not a good hatchet if it's made in China. But I suspect the odds go down unless Fiskars has a heavy presence at the factory, to insure quality control. |
Question: | Will this last in case of a Zombie outbreak? How many Zombies would this be able takedown? Will this handle clearing a horde of Zombies |
Answer: | you need the x11 if you wanna go on living to a zombie outbreak, this one are super short meaning the zombies will be able to get real close to you before you can even hack their brains out |
