| Answer: | HP states "up to 300 pages"! They also state that you can print "more than double of a refill". I personally have used HP printers for several years, several different types of printers and cartridges. Since they begin to sell the "xl" cartridges I have pleased, because they do last longer than the non-xl cartridge. Of course they cost more. I justify it thusly, HP makes about the best, cheapest printer on the market. They will last a long time, which is good. At least in the present era, a printer needs ink and ink has never been cheap, so depending on how much you print, you will use many more and spend more for ink alone than you spend on your printer. Good for HP, not good for the consumer. I suspect it is pretty much the same with all printers. Logically, you would save money when you purchase a printer, which comes with the standard non-xl cartridges, to dispose of the printer and buy a new one when you run out of ink. If your fortunate to only have to use black ink, and you print on both sides, I would look to replace the cartridge at about one-half a ream of paper, or 250 pages. The non-xl, cut the page printing in half, or 125 pages for replacement cartridges. |

| Answer: | I visited the HP.com store in the Ink and Toner tab. There is a search bar, I entered HP Envy 5055 All-in-one printer and tapped the search icon. The only ink listed in the compatibility column was 1. HP65XL Black $27.99, 2. HP65XL Tri-Color $32.99. You would need to change either of these at some point depending on usage. The black cartridge empties quicker than the color cartridge, assuming most documents are black and white. Also listed is the non-XL cartridges. The only difference is the amount of ink/toner contained in the cartridge. The non-XL cartridges print roughly 125 pages, while the XL cartridges print roughly 300 pages. You can purchase single, double and combo packs which have different price points. In my limited experience, Walmart and HP are price pointed at nearly the same price point. Walmart tends to run empty on the shelf, while HP you can normally get free shipping, or you can find a good sale. Your purchase price will often determine shipping charges, but they do ship fairly quickly. Assuming you purchased your printer new, check your owners manual, open and remove a cartridge from your printer to check the cartridge for an HP65 number on it, or even visit the hp.com website to validate my answer. One last place to look...Walmart, in their ink section, along with some printers and near the computers. Somewhere in the ink aisle, should be a book somewhat attached to one of the shelves. Open and locate your printer, should be in the HP section. When you find it in the book, it will list the required cartridge number(s). |
