| Answer: | The bottom 2 cubbie shelves should be a bit over 11 inches wide each across, about 6 1/4 inches high and 11 7/8 inches to the back panel. The top 2 shelves should be about 22 3/4 inches wide each across, about 6 1/4 inches high and 11 7/8 inches to the back panel. Remember any bins would need to be well less than these dimensions to be handled and slide in and out of the shelves. It is difficult to find bins that are an optimal size in any materials: fabric, plastic, wicker, wood, etc. Each board is about 5/8 inch in thickness, so with some math, take the dimensions given which are the rough outer dimensions for most products, and then subtract the number of 5/8 inch boards thicknesses along the way and then divide by the number of cubbie holes. e.g. bottom two shelves = 24 inches outer dimension minus (the 3 times of 5/8 inch risers = 3 times 0.625") = 24" - 1.875" = 22.125" divided by 2 cubbie holes = 11.0625" wide across each. |
