Answer:	tl;dr Brown switches are probably what you want.I'm a bit late to answer but, brown will be your best bet. Red and brown have the same low actuation force, at 45 cN. This means the keys require less pressure than say, the Cherry blue or black switches which have 50 cN and 60 cN respectively. The difference between red and brown is that brown switches are considered tactile, meaning it's easier to tell when the key has been pressed because there's a noticeable bump to confirm it. This makes brown preferred by people who type a fair amount but also game because it has the tactile feedback of blue and the low actuation force of red. Red is preferred by some gamers who'd rather not have the bump, since every millisecond matters in some games they'd prefer to reduce resistance in the switches as much as possible. Just in case the 1-10M Ohm wrist strap resistor is inside the alligator clip connector, don't cut it off! It's important to have that resistor to avoid getting electrocuted or to avoid rapid discharges that can damage components. In that case use a banana jack with a short wire on it and splice that into the ground cord near the snap. Then plug the wrist strap connector into the banana jack.Pretty hard to beat $26 for a mat and wrist strap. And splicing is fun.

Answer:	The adhesive on the mousepad backing is the same sort of stuff that is used on Post-It notes. The people complaining about it destroying their wood finishes are failing to mention that they let moisture get under it (from a spill, or a humid room) and the long-term effect of the water on that surface made the stain/paint/etc bubble up, just as ANY table would do if you left a pool of water on it for days.
