Answer:	Yes you can. I just scanned a 5 page document using the document feeder. Worked great!
Question:	Does the top lift up so I can scan books/other things that won't fit through the document feeder
Answer:	Yes it hinges up. The rear hinges seem to be able to lift up higher than just a page, like on a book, but it definitely lifts up. I normally lift up the top to scan one or two pages vs. using the document feed.

Answer:	My photo printing was excellent quality. Adjusting the paper feed system is not an easy adjustment, but much easier on the fourth or fifth time you use it. One small thing is there is a 1/16" white strip on top and bottom. Tom

Answer:	The 880 has touch screen fax buttons instead of physical buttons, uses different print cartridge model numbers (newer possibly) and has NFC support for phones that support. I have not used a 870 so I'm not sure if the 880s touchscreen is more responsive but usually they update the processor on refreshes. Answer:	It does up to 13x19 but I'm unsure if it prints borderless at that size. I know it is borderless for 11x17s and lower. It does not scan OR copy. It ONLY prints.

Answer:	Yes the only way to feed the documents into the printer is thru the rear document feed.
Question:	I will use this printer infrequently, will the ink "dry out" or the heads clog if only used a couple of times a year
Answer:	If you know how to maintain a printer all you need to do is clean the ink heads when they clog any printer like this is going to dry up from sitting for months regardless of what other people tell you I've had this printer for 6 years it will dry up
Question:	Does it take cardstock well? even heavier weight cardstock
Answer:	I have used it many times to print 140 pound watercolor greeting cards. It works great; maybe one out of 25 times it will hang up and you have to nudge the card to get it going.

Answer:	No, the maximum size this machine can print is 8.5"x 14".
Question:	I only want to print using black ink. Do I need to have all of the colors installed, or can I use black by itself
Answer:	Install the color as well and just never use it. Before print it’ll give you an option to choose color or black and you can also just use black.

Answer:	Yes, The Brother MFC-J491DW All-in-One inkjet printer Scans, Prints, Copies and double sided print/copy. The Unit should Fax however I do not the Fax capability installed. awesome little printer.
Question:	If you run out of a color cartridge, will it print in black
Answer:	No! I cannot get mine to print in black and white when any color cartridge is empty. It does NOT automatically print in black only and even when I change the settings, it refuses to print. Once I replaced the color cartridges, it happily printed in black and white again. I've never had a printer do this.

Answer:	I have both and they are almost identical! They are both great printers, but my TS9020 broke and Canon sent me the TS9120 as a replacement. The biggest difference is that they don't use the same ink, even though they both use 6 cartridges. The price for the OEM ink is the same for both, but if using compatible ink, it is much cheaper at the moment to buy the ink for the TS9020 (5 times cheaper!). Other than the regular black, yellow, cyan and magenta, the TS9020 also uses a photo grey ink, while the TS9120 uses a photo blue ink. They both use a large pigment black ink as well.

I dont often use colored ink but I have printed well over 200 sheets with black ink and it just now told me I'm running low on the black ink so I wouldn't say it's a bad deal or that they aren't full.
