Your DVR will output a digital signal to the HDMI end of the cable. That digital signal will go directly to the TV, unmodified, through the RCA plugs on the other end. Many digital TVs (especially newer ones) are capable of receiving and decoding a digital signal through RCA inputs, but there's no way to guarantee that with the information provided.
