User questions & answers
Question: | When you connect a mic into the input line. Can you mix it with the built-in mics |
Answer: | No, but ZOOM makes (and Amazon sells) another model that will record FOUR channels --- the "same" two built-in mics PLUS two LINE/XLR jacks: the H5 (which I also own). (See here: http://amzn.to/2l8U4nC) (that's a lowercase L and N) |
Question: | How can I use the zoom h1 as a dslr mic.? If it is possible do I have to press record on the zoom h1 and and press the record button on the dslr whe |
Answer: | Just a note about recording into a dslr: the bitrate and sample rate you set on the zoom doesn't affect the bitrate and sample rate recorded onto the dslr file. Your dslr always determines the bitrate and sample rate. (IE: for most Canon's that's 44khz/16 bit). The audio quality from the zoom will be better than your on-camera mic simply because the microphone itself is higher quality, but don't expect to be recording 96khz/24 bit audio straight into your dslr's .mov files! |
Question: | can I record a piece to video with the Zoom recording my voice and then synch it to video |
Answer: | Sure thing. I use mine as a primary aiduo recorder for my Nikon D5300. I use the sound from the camera as areference track and then stnc the wave file from the Zoom to the video using Final Cut X. Works perfect with much better sound quality. |
Question: | What does this device actually record onto - some sort of a memory card or flash drive? I'm looking for something that will record at least 6 hours |
Answer: | You get roughly 12 hours on the 2GB micro SD card included, in MP3 320kbps. Quality is excellent. If you want WAV format your looking at about 2.5 hours with the stock card. Larger cards are cheap though so it's upgradable. |

Answer: | The dual converters on the F6 operate when using the device as an audio interface, but the maximum bit depth when used as an audio interface is 24 Bit Linear. |
Question: | What's the minimum sd card class/write speed the f6 requires for recording 32-bit fp |

User questions & answers
Question: | Says it does 4 channel recording. It takes 4 individual channels and combines them to 2 stereo channels. Is there a way to maintain 4 separate channe |
Answer: | Hello, Yes, you can use the Scarlett 18i8 (3rd Gen) with Reaper. Best regards, Jay Lilley // Focusrite Technical Support Engineer |
Question: | I have a problem with the 60D not working with rechargeable batteries, even after changing the battery settings. Anyone else have this? Know of a fix |
Answer: | Hello, Yes this is possible in Windows. To expose additional channels from your Scarlett interface to non-ASIO applications (e.g. Skype, Discord, Zoom, Audacity) first click the Focusrite Notifier icon in the taskbar, then click "Expose/Hide Windows Channels": Best Regards, Anthony // Focusrite Support |
Question: | What's a good USB battery pack to pair with this |
Answer: | The biggest change is in the headroom. These preamps and converters are cleaner and offer more gain than the 2nd gen. These pres also come equipped with the "Air" mode which adds some high end to model the ISA preamp circuit. The 3rd gen 18i20 also has 16 ADAT I/O channels as opposed to the 2nd gen's 8 channels of ADAT. The removable ears also help with portability for the engineer who doesn't want to keep the interface in a rack. If this was helpful, please consider purchasing from us (pixelproaudio on Amazon). We can help with support after the sale as well. We have it in stock and ready to ship. - Pixel Pro Audio |
Question: | What's the difference between this and the previous version of the DR60D |
Answer: | Hi, There have been several improvements made to the 3rd generation range of interfaces. Firstly, all of the inputs on the 18i20 3rd gen feature Air mode, emulating the classic sound of our original transformer-based ISA preamps. Secondly, the 18i20 3rd gen now has the ability to switch between Main and Alternative speakers connected to it using a front panel button. Thirdly, we have added a built-in Talkback function (allowing the engineer to talk directly to the performer), a Loopback function (allowing audio from one application to be recorded into another without connecting cables), Dual ADAT ports for recording 16 channels of audio into the DAW at 96kHz, optical S/PDIF and removable rack ears. Lastly, the specifications of the preamps and conversion have been improved even further - for example, the dynamic range has been increased to 111dB and the gain range is now 56dB instead of 50dB on the 2nd generation. Product features
Tascam DR-40X
Versatile four-track audio recorder for cinema, music, podcasting and any other application. Easy-to-use compact design with a high-performance feature set and versatile audio I/O, all to produce professional content.
DR-40X Features:
Professional Deal for live capture: line level input
Dual Neutrik XLR/TRS combo jacks support both mic-level and +4dBu line-level. These inputs can accept balanced microphone or line level from Mixers or the FOH console. The microphone preamp includes +48V phantom power and plenty of gain for detailed recordings with condenser microphones, as well as electret type microphones. Using the stereo built-in microphones, you can capture ambient sound of the audience while recording direct from an external console, which is ideal for capturing live performances.
Wide covering range: from whispering voice to jet engine
DR-40X allows high-quality recording with its stereo built-in condenser microphones. Every detail is captured from small whispers to loud sounds up to 125dB SPL. These built-in microphones are adjustable unidirectional microphones for recording in an X-Y pattern for tight stereo imaging, or in an A-B pattern for a more ambient recording.
Simple operation
The layout of the DR-40X has been revamped to be quick and easy to work with one thumb. Operations like recording, adjusting levels, deleting bad takes and adding markers are just a button press away.
Turning your room into a studio – in a minute.
Connecting to a PC using USB Audio interface mode, and DR-40X becomes a tool for voiceover work, live streaming and songwriting with studio-quality audio. Built-in microphones work as USB microphones.
Extended battery life
DR-07X uses only two AA batteries and has ultra-long battery capability. When using built-in microphones, recording lasts 17.5 hours when recording with standard 2ch WAV, 44.1kHz/ 16bit format using alkaline batteries. Also DR-07X can be powered by a USB mobile battery as well for super long extended use.
No need to go through 'take 2' all over again
If you don’t like the last part of a phrase you just recorded with your guitar, or if you change your mind and want to rephrase narration, the 'Overwrite mode' is exactly what you need. Overwrite mode allows punch-in recording from a desired point. It is destructive editing with one level of undo.
Nondestructive Overdubbing
The overdubbing function allows for Overdub Recording while playing a previously recorded file. This allows you to record other parts such as a guitar solo over a recording previously made such as at a rehearsal studio. Overdubbing creates a new file, leaving the original file unaffected, making it easy to re-record.
192 Hours
This is how long you can record CD-quality sound with single SDXC card. DR-40X support a SDXC card, which can record longer with larger data capacity. If you record one stereo file in 44.1kHz/ 16bit CD quality, 128GB card holds 192 hours maximum. In MP3/ 320kbps, it can record up to 896 hours. (that is 37 days!).

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this product easy to use |
Answer: | Yes very easy and user friendly. |
Question: | Can i connect this to a gemini mm1 mixer to record a dj set |
Answer: | The recorder has a 3.5mm input, so you can certainly connect an analog out from your mixer to it and record from that input. |
Question: | Does it have internal memory or does it require a SD memory card |
Answer: | The DR-07X requires a micro-SD card. The card is not included. I use a 32 GB micro-SD card in mine, and it holds many hours of recording. A smaller card like the 16 GB will hold tons of recordings. |
Question: | What kind of sd card does this take and what kind of cable to hook up to pc |
Answer: | I purchased a SanDisk 128 GB micro SD card. The cable is a mini to a standard USB. |
