Answer: No. It's a dynamic mic, which means it will have a tighter and more focused pick up pattern...made for close up miking. Your best best for ambient/sound effects type recording would be a condenser mic...preferably one with an omni directional pattern. Answer: Supposedly 50-15 but that’s based on the box which calls this a snare-Tom mic too. I don’t think they bothered measuring it exactly, they just used the spec for the smaller snare/Tom mic. Anyway it’s got deep enough bass to work with.

Answer: This will work for micing a bass guitar cabinet because it has a large diaphragm. However, keep in mind the eq parameters of this mic. It's designed for low end which would be great for rock/metal where a low end is desired but also requires subs that can produce those frequencies. If you're looking for something for a pop/funk sound then you'd have to eq it or do a low frequency roll off at the board.

Answer: Not so good. This is a large xlr microphone used for mic-ing bass drums.

Answer: It works extremely well! It's given me the best bass drum sound I've had in years. Just make sure the gain is up on the microphone to really get a good sound.

Answer: No. The BETA 52A is a dynamic mic. It does not use phantom power. You connect the XLR cable from this microphone straight into your mixer.
Question: How well would it work to mic a bass guitar amp
Answer: Your pick up is going to be warm and low. However, you are better off taking a line out from your bass amp to the mixer board for a cleaner sound, than sticking a mic in front of another speaker. It's just less cleaner in your final mix, not to mention additional variables for feedback.

Question: Does this pack include the 7 XLR cables for each mic or do you have to buy them separately? I can't seem to find any information about it
Answer: Like the others said, cables are not included. I ended up buying a six pack of the colored GLS Audio XLR cables and then added one more single. These mics have been excellent so far.
Question: Do I need to buy a stand for the bass mic
Answer: Actually you would need 2 short boom stands, and 1 tall boom stand. It would not hurt to also get 4 sennhieser mzh604 drum clamp for e604. The clamps that come with these mics are poorly made . That's the only bad thing about these mics . Other than that these mics rock!
Question: I bought this and cant fit the clips for the condenser mics onto a standard mic stand (either 5/8 or 3/8). What am I missing
Answer: Well there is an adapter inside that makes it fit the smaller diameter stands and the larger ones when you take it out. Unless your stands are not the standard size or there was a defect in manufacturing then it should fit. Post some pics if the stand you are using along with the mic clips and everything. Question: What kind of recording device to I need to hook the mics into? I have never really looked into recording drums
Answer: You could use any mixer/interface with multiple XRL inputs. To record each input as a separate track (which you will want to do to get a better quality drum recording), you'll want a USB or firewire interface. Answer: These mics do not take batteries. This is a set of 5 dinamic mics and 2 condencer mics witch are used for the symbals. The 2 condencer mics will need phantom power so you will need a mixer or a sound board that probides phantom power

Answer: Neither USB nor jack. It has an XLR out (the usual plug for professional microphone).
Question: Would this be a good alternative to the Audix d6 or Shure Beta 52 for recording metal
Answer: In a nutshell, because of the price, "yes". I have had great results recording with this mic on the kick drum. If you want that "click" from the "metal style" kick drum, you might consider pointing the mic to where the rim meets the shell of the kick drum (if there is a sound hole, have the diaphram just inside the hole, pointed to the "drummers left side of the rim"), and you may need a second mic (the ones you mentioned are fantastic mics BTW) or a sub-kick to really get the metal "click" you might be looking for. If you have a sub-kick mic, perhaps point the mic at the opposite side of the rim. If you do have a sub-kick, that mic placement should get you the click. See what happens. :) Note: These are EXCELLENT for miking the floor tom too, and I am eventually (based solely on budget and priority lists in my studio) going to move this mic to the floor tom, and probably get one of the mics you mentioned above, because the Audix and the EV are simply fantastic, and, the EV especially, even though you pay an arm and a leg to get 'em, will pick up that bass drum really nicely. This CAD mic does a great job for the money, and I don't end up having to do much post EQ (a little) to get it pulled into the mix. The EV will be "EQ-less". (oops! that whole time I thought you had mentioned the EV 320, which is IMO the best kick mic I have ever heard. I have worked with the Shure 52, and they are also fantastic. The audix too (excellent no-EQ mics)! Gosh there are so many good mics and types. At my friends studio, it ended up being the EV 320, and there is a condenser further back picking up secondary ambiance from the kick as well. I have several CAD mics, and they are all fantastic, not just for the money - they really make good mics. Hope this helps.
Question: Has anyone used this to mic a cajon? How do the highs/lows sound? (I use a cajon port as well
Answer: I have not used it to mic a cajon, but I use it as the only mic on our full kit... I was a little weirded out and pleasantly surprised to find that it actually pics up not only the toms, but the snare and cymbals as well. If I were trying to only get the kick, this would be a problem... I think with that said, it shouldn't have a problem picking up the full range of the cajon.
Question: Does anyone know if this mic is able to plug into a regular guitar amp so i can practice/record vocal audio without a preamp
Answer: No preamp needed as long as you have a standard mic level XLR input on your amp

Answer: Well your bass drum will have More attack, and greater definition from the bass drum beater (especially when only the resonant head has a microphone like the D6 which sounds AMAZING). Without a port hole, the resonant mic can't capture much beater definition. ... A slightly brighter sound (the port hole removes some of the warmth from your bass drum sound). But overall having a hole cut in the front will make your bass drum sound 1,000 time better! (From my son drummer and audio engineer.)
Question: Can the d6 be placed both outside or inside the bass drum. Which is best sueded for the mic
Answer: Either inside or outside. If inside you'll need a mic stand that can extend into the access hole if your kick has one. I get the best response by aligning the D6 with the area where the striker (mallet) meets the head, even if you're placing the mic on the outside, obviously opposite the head. Try it and see.
