Answer:	I've used this fan for small areas of dampness from an AC drain line backup, and it works well for that. But, for a larger plumbing leak, this fan would be inadequate. You need much larger air movers and possibly drying equipment to ensure a complete drying procedure is done. This will help ensure you don't end up with mold or mildew.

I have no air conditioning nor heat in my house and most of the time that is fine but this summer has been awful. the fan made it tolerable . I may get another one for my home office next year.

Answer:	it moves quite a lot of air. if you put it at the bottom of a staircase and have a door open, i could see it doing that. the problem is then the draw, where is the air coming down into the basement from that will replace the air you are moving up? if it's from the same staircase then I could just see a loop.
