You may need to move away from other possible sources of strong signals at least WHILE you perform the pairing. This may include things like WiFi routers, cellphone, computer with WiFi/Bluetooth, and so on. It MAY even be possible for a second alarm unit to interfere with the pairing if like me, you bought this 2 alarm+2 remotes package deal. I don't know exactly how these devices "talk" to each other so if the second remote was already paired with a second alarm unit...and the second alarm unit is nearby it may try to respond to the second remote while you are trying to pair the second remote with the first alarm unit. In this case, instead of moving away from the second alarm unit, it could be easier to simply remove the batteries from the second alarm unit unless or until you have use for it.
