13 best bose line array speakers

Bose line array speakers are a popular choice in the professional audio industry, particularly for live sound reinforcement and PA (Public Address) systems. These speakers are designed to provide high-quality, consistent sound coverage for large venues, such as concert halls, stadiums, theaters, and outdoor events. Here's what you need to know about Bose line array speakers:

  1. Line Array Technology: Line array speaker systems consist of multiple individual speakers (often referred to as elements or drivers) that are vertically aligned in a row. This arrangement allows for precise control of sound dispersion and coverage. Bose line array speakers use this technology to deliver uniform sound distribution throughout the audience area.

  2. Vertical Stacking: Bose line array speakers are typically stacked vertically, with each speaker element covering a specific vertical angle. This stacking helps in directing sound to the audience while minimizing sound spillage to unwanted areas, such as the ceiling or walls.

  3. Sound Quality: Bose is known for its commitment to audio quality. Their line array speakers are designed to deliver clear, detailed, and balanced sound across a wide frequency range. They often incorporate advanced technologies to optimize sound reproduction.

  4. Modularity: Many Bose line array systems are modular, allowing users to customize the setup based on the size and shape of the venue and the desired coverage pattern. This flexibility makes them suitable for a variety of applications.

  5. Ease of Rigging: Bose often designs their line array speakers with ease of rigging in mind. They provide hardware and rigging options to securely suspend or stack the speakers, making the setup process more efficient for sound engineers and technicians.

  6. Coverage Patterns: Bose line array speakers come with different coverage patterns, including narrow, medium, and wide options. This allows sound engineers to choose the appropriate pattern for the specific venue and audience layout.

  7. Digital Signal Processing (DSP): Many Bose line array systems include integrated DSP capabilities. This allows for precise control over the sound, including EQ adjustments, delay settings, and crossover configurations, ensuring optimal performance.

  8. Compatibility: Bose line array speakers are often designed to work seamlessly with other Bose audio equipment and accessories, such as subwoofers, amplifiers, and signal processors. This ensures a cohesive and integrated sound system.

  9. Reliability: Bose is known for its durable and reliable products, which are built to withstand the rigors of professional use in live sound environments.

  10. Customer Support: Bose typically provides comprehensive customer support, including training, technical assistance, and warranty coverage, to ensure that users get the most out of their line array speaker systems.

Bose line array speakers are favored by many live sound professionals for their combination of sound quality, flexibility, and ease of use. They are often used in various live music events, conferences, and other large-scale audio applications where consistent and high-quality sound reinforcement is essential.

THE MOST PORTABLE L1 PRO SYSTEM

Load in, set up, and play. A great portable PA for songwriters and mobile DJs, the L1 Pro8 is ready whenever you are. It features a compact-but-powerful eight-driver articulated C-shape line array, so you get 180 degrees of horizontal sound coverage, ready to fill small venues like coffee shops and cafes with crystal clear sound and smooth tonal balance.

The one-trip portable line array

The L1 Pro8 is easy to carry and easy to set up (and even easier to listen to). It weighs just 16 kilograms (35 pounds) and disassembles into three lightweight pieces. Stow the line array components in the included travel bag, pick up the base using its integrated handle, and you're off. And you still have a hand free to carry your instrument.

BASS WITHOUT THE BULK

You’ve may have seen RaceTrackstyle drivers before. But never like this. Through dedicated, painstaking engineering, Bose created a subwoofer that delivers something better and different — a slim, highly portable, incredibly powerful design that easily fits on stage and effortless fills out your sound. The integrated subwoofer in L1 Pro8 features a 7" × 13" RaceTrack driver, giving you performance that rivals a conventional 12" woofer without the cumbersome size.

Generous coverage

The L1 Pro8 has a C-shape line array featuring 8 articulated 2” neodymium drivers.

As with every Bose L1 system, you get legendary 180-degree horizontal sound coverage, allowing your audience to hear clearly even off to the extreme sides in small to medium venues. One key difference with the L1 Pro8 is its vertical sound coverage pattern. Its C-shape array means you get wide vertical dispersion, allowing your audience to hear clearly whether they are seated or standing — generous coverage.

The Bose L1 Mix App

With the L1 Mix app, you can adjust mixer settings instantly from your phone or even walk the room, hear how the mix sounds, and fine-tune as you go. Change volume and tone settings in the app and watch the LED encoder on your L1 Pro move to match — the mixer and app are always in sync, in real time. Plus, you have access to the entire ToneMatch library of custom EQ presets. With the L1 Mix app, you get the connectivity that empowers your performance via controls that are intuitive and instant.

A BALANCE OF POWER AND PORTABILITY

Move fast and play low. The L1 Pro16 lets you do more of both. For DJs, singer-songwriters, and small groups, the L1 Pro16 is a portable PA with a sweet-spot balance of power and portability, offering high output and extended low frequency. A powerful 16-driver articulated J-shape line array gives you 180 degrees of horizontal sound coverage, filling small-tomedium sized clubs, bars, and other venues with rich, detailed sound.

YOU FOUND THE SWEET SPOT

The “big brother” to the Bose L1 Pro8, the L1 Pro16 has a larger line array and larger integrated subwoofer. While the L1 Pro8 has a 8-driver C-shape array, the L1 Pro16 has a 16-driver, J-shape array. Both have built-in subwoofers with a RaceTrack driver — the L1 Pro8 has a 7" × 13" driver, and the L1 Pro16 has 10" × 18" neodymium driver. So, with the L1 Pro16, you're getting more powerful SPL and bass, but it's still highly portable — the sweet spot.

VERSATILE COVERAGE

The L1 Pro16 has a J-shape line array featuring 16 articulated 2" neodymium drivers. As with every Bose L1 system, you get legendary 180-degree horizontal sound coverage, allowing your audience to hear clearly even off to the extreme sides. One key difference with the L1 Pro16 is its J-shape array. This gives you tight vertical control on top, wide dispersion on the bottom to cover audiences whether its set up on the floor or on an elevated stage — versatile coverage.

User questions & answers

Question: What size room is recommended for just one L1 before moving to two
Answer: I'm not sure about room size ratings , but BOSE rates the speakers as to the number of people you can play for. The L1compact , they say is for groups up to 100 people. I personally have played on a patio outdoors where there were well over 100 people and the speaker covered beautifully. The sound really carries !!
Question: What is the frequency range
Answer: Bose L1 Compact frequency range, 62hz-17khz, per Bose spec sheet.
Question: Does this provide phantom power for condenser mic
Answer: The Bose S1 Pro speaker does not supply phantom power for a condenser microphone. If that is a priority for you, you might consider the JBL Eon One compact speaker. It provides phantom power on channel one, along with a bunch of other cool features the S1 does not have. I own both, and really like the JBL, which you can purchase at a lower cost!
Question: can a keyboard be plugged in as well as a hand held mic
Answer: Yes

User questions & answers

Question: Would you say that the F1 is better for outdoor than the L
Answer: There is not enough information to accurately answer that. BUT the F1 would be more directional, so me personally I would use an F1 outdoors. BUT I don't know how big your party is?, is the space wide opened?, how close guest will be? etc. I have used both systems and would prefer the F1 for an outdoor event. But that is an opinion statement from someone who has experience with both systems.
Question: where is it made
Answer: I think China
Question: Can I use my iPhone with this
Answer: You will need a rca to 3.5mm(earphone plug) connector to connect.. it does not have Bluetooth connectivity.. https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-3-5mm-2-Male-Adapter-Stereo/dp/B01D5H8JW0
Question: Is this pole mounted speaker?what is the rms rating for this speaker
Answer: Ahled, you can use standard speaker stands with the F1 812. As far as the RMS rating, it isn't available. The amplifier is rated at 1000 watts and most importantly, the SPL rating is: 126 dB SPL (132 dB SPL peak). Hope this helps.

User questions & answers

Question: How can i equip this speaker with dj equipment
Answer: They are equipped with standard stereo input jacks (XLR, 1/4", RCA). This is a powered unit so it does not require a separate amplifier.
Question: Can I use this equipment to organize a party for approximately 500 people
Answer: It depends on the layout of the venue. But the short answer is Yes! However, I would prefer to have 2 sets. That way you'd have coverage for areas that are not in the direct path of the speakers.
Question: Is posible to connect 4 of this
Answer: Hi, I would recommend that you contact the seller directly. Front Row Electronics Customer Service Phone: 1-866-693-7693 I had several questions and they were quite helpful in answering them. The system sounds well and we are pleased with it. Good luck
Question: What about crossover? Are most people using a crossover module or just using the sub output on a mixer? Or does this system have crossover built in
Answer: We run with built-in x-over. Very pleased with the system.

User questions & answers

Question: How do these compare to the maui 5 in terms of sound quality
Answer: Bose L1 system has more quality, I have compared it to Maui 5 and and the JBL tower systems and BOSE still have better quality
Question: The bose t1 mixer is so expensive, can I use a yamaha mixer to create reverb
Answer: I use an allen & heath zed 10 fx mixer to 2 bose L1 compacts - sounds great. I bought for divided payments from Sweetwater, very reasonable. I found it so much easier than setting up the bose mixer, which I sold. Jeanne
Question: how many decibels can the L1 put out
Answer: One thing about decibel level output is that it is directly proportionate to the signal level that your putting in. The amplification factor remains the same but the out dbs will be that factor times the input signal. Even 200 watts, 106db that all depends upon how you are using it, what are feeding with. Using the line input you can hit the thing with a lot more millivolts than your acoustic or Mic are going put out so that skews the data. I hit mine with a Yamaha 16 ch mixer going through a dual 31 band EQ first - some of those frequencies are going to be more or less Db based upon the settings - this unit will fill a standard sized 50+ person bar easily. At 100, it might work well for voice but you might need a big brother L1 to help out.
Question: Can I run a mixer into the Mic jack
Answer: No, not the mic jack, but the line in jack serves that purpose. I use a Yamaha MX-16U board and run our whole four piece band through the board, then most importantly - a TRS stereo 1/4" cable with a XLR plug on the other end connected to the board's output. If you use a regular mono/guitar 1/4" cable you will lose over 6db (over half) the volume out of the unit. So, to use the Yamaha put the TRS input signal into the line in 1/4" jack and turn off the built in tone match switch. Because of this, you don't want to mix a board and still try to use the tone match guitar/mic, which you shouldn't/wouldn't be doing anyway. As far as how it sounds, I actually use this as our second tower to supplement an older L1 full series tower to help fill rooms at odd angles and such and to ensure the whole audience gets powerful sound. Using this method we parked the Peavey 18's and McCauley 15"s/horns in the garage for outdoor gigs.
