Answer:	I just checked my pole mount it looks like its right around 36 mm. This was an eye ball check so I'm leaning towards 36 mm. Also these are very well built better then any of my other stands.

Answer:	strong enough for anything that I throw at it. the only plastic on the tripod are the tightening handles and clamp for extension. there is a steel pin to hold the height of the pole.
Question:	I bought this stand and next to the hight adjustment knob there is a small pin on a chain connected to it. What is this for? Am I missing something
Answer:	It is recommended to use this pin rather than rely on the adjustment knob whenever possible. The weight of the speaker can cause the grip action of the adjustment knob to eventually wear out and be able to slip. Using the pin simply eliminates this from happening, and is also extra safety measure when the speaker is in place, especially for a fairly heavy speaker.

Answer:	if you put the legs at the recommended and safe setting then the top of the tube is six feet. If you bring the tripod legs closer together you risk some stability but you can get at least another foot in height. I wanted the ability to raise my Epson Duet projector screen higher than it's 76". With this tripod I can bring the screen up at least two more feet with the tube at the six foot height.
