11 best vibration tuners
Vibration tuners are devices used in the context of tuning musical instruments, particularly stringed instruments like guitars and bass guitars. These tuners work by detecting the vibrations of the instrument's strings to determine their pitch and provide visual or auditory feedback to help the musician adjust the tuning of the strings. Here's some information about vibration tuners:
Functionality: Vibration tuners typically clip onto the headstock or body of a guitar or bass guitar. They have a built-in sensor that detects the vibrations produced by plucking or strumming the strings. These vibrations are then analyzed to determine the pitch of the strings.
Display: Vibration tuners usually have a display screen that shows the detected pitch. Some tuners use a needle that moves to indicate whether the string is sharp or flat, while others use LED lights or a digital readout to display the pitch.
Accuracy: Vibration tuners are known for their accuracy and ability to work well in noisy environments because they rely on physical vibrations rather than picking up sound from the instrument.
Modes: Many vibration tuners offer different tuning modes, allowing musicians to choose different reference pitches (e.g., A440) and tuning methods (e.g., standard tuning, alternate tunings).
Power: They are usually powered by batteries, making them portable and convenient for musicians on the go. Some models may also have rechargeable batteries or can be powered via USB.
Clip-On Design: The clip-on design of vibration tuners makes them easy to attach and remove from the instrument without the need for any additional equipment or modifications to the instrument itself.
Versatility: Vibration tuners can be used with various stringed instruments, including acoustic guitars, electric guitars, bass guitars, ukuleles, and more.
Price Range: Vibration tuners come in a range of price points, from budget-friendly options to high-end models with additional features.
Overall, vibration tuners are popular among musicians for their accuracy, ease of use, and suitability for both beginners and experienced players. They provide a convenient and reliable way to keep instruments in tune, ensuring that they sound their best during practice and performance.

User questions & answers
Question: | How well does this work for a bass guitar? I've got a Snark that doesn't register well on my Fender Jazz bass |
Answer: | No. I verified with the manufacturer it can only produce a single rhythm at a time. |
Question: | How can this work with any guitar case? It wouldn’t sit in there safely whatsoever. Very impractical |
Answer: | After you power the device on, press the mode button so you are in "Pitch" mode. I believe the default pitch you will get is an A at 440. You can use that pitch to tune your cello - just tune the A-string to that pitch. If it doesn't come up with a A, you can turn the wheel and as you do, it changes the pitch. You can turn it to each pitch of the 4 cellos strings, A, D, G & C. Just make sure you don't tune to a sharp or flat, just the straight pitch. |
Question: | Could i use this for intonation |
Answer: | If your question is related to operating power, it requires 2 AAA batteries. Without modification, there is no capability to apply external power. |
Question: | If I change the pitch to 432Hz, will it reset to 440Hz if I turn it off and back on |
Answer: | There is no fan. It is the same exact size as the SB6121/SB6141. Just that it is white. It runs luke warm, not really even hot. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this tuner safe for use with yamaha student guitars (cgs102a |
Answer: | The back slides downward. Place your thumbs on the raised arrows on each corner and push downward. This will expose the two AAA batteries. It's a little tight the first time you open it, You can wear rubber gloves if it hurts you thumbs. Don't give up! |
Question: | What is the difference between the snark sn1 and the snark sn1x |
Answer: | It should. When using it to tune my piano it didn't pick up the lowest octave, so if you're using a really low tuning you might look for a specific Bass tuner. If you plug into the tuner directly it should pick up any note you use though. |
Question: | Does the snark sn1x version work with other stringed instruments, such as ukuleles and cellos |
Answer: | No there was not an input cord included with the tuner. |
Question: | does this measure by vibration |
Answer: | It should tune a banjo. I have a tenor guitar which is tuned the same as a banjo, and the KLIQ works great on it. |

User questions & answers
Question: | How to use the tune tech tt-5 tuner |
Answer: | The tuner clips on to the head stock of a guitar, bass, or ukulele. The tuner has modes for each instrument (guitar, bass, or ukulele) and also has a chromatic mode for non-standard tuning. There is only one button on the device. Press the button to turn the tuner on and then use the same button to select the mode you want to use. While tuning your instrument, the display will show the note and go from blue to green when the string is in tune. |
Question: | How do you install/replace the battery? I don't see where it opens |
Answer: | On the back side there is a sliding "door" that you can open to get to the battery. It opens toward the top of the tuner but on the back. Hope that helps. |
Question: | Does it need a battery |
Answer: | Yes it comes with that little flat silver CR type battery. In the future you will be able to find those batteries everywhere. Anymore questions write us here on Amazon or call us at 804.358.0855 |

Snark ST-8 Super Tight Clip On Tuner (Current Model)
- Display Rotates 360 Degrees (works for right or left-handed players)
- "Stay Put" Clip
- Tap Tempo Metronome
- Pitch Calibration (415-466Hz)
User questions & answers
Question: | The last two sn-8s fell apart w/little use. both axis, on the clip and right under the tuner itself. have you done anything to improve the quality |
Answer: | I don’t really know. The stand is not as sturdy as what I needed and the shelf didn’t hold multiple items. I gave it away and ordered another heavy duty stand |
Question: | Is this a chromatic tuner. I want to tune all strings down a half step starting with the sixth string to E flat. Will this tuner do that |
Answer: | I assume you're asking about the included instrument holder. It's possible, but it seems like a viola might be a bit to heavy for it, so I haven't tried using it for anything larger than a soprano ukulele or 3/4 size violin, and it works fine for that. The stand I've been using for years for my viola is made by Ingles, and I recommend using that for heavier or more valuable instruments. |
Question: | Is this for All instruments? Im a trumpet player, and id like a clip on tuner to clip to my bell or the stand so i can always moniter my tuning |
Answer: | No. It will not hold a ukulele. I just received mine going to be able to do just that, but no, it will not. |
Question: | Does this tuner offer A |
Answer: | When pulled all the way up, it measures about 54 inches to the hinge on the back which connects to the platform. From there your height will be a bit lower as the base of the platform is lower. I would estimate about 52 inches as the maximum height measuring from the floor to the base of the platform. |

- Easy-to-read tuning needle; backlight turns green when note is in tune
- Tuning Range B0 - B7; A440 calibration
- Includes CR2032 battery
User questions & answers
Question: | Can the tuning be changed or is it set only to |
Answer: | No, the distance between the inner section of the rubber pieces when fully open is less than that. Anything over 3/4" is probably too thick. |
Question: | how wide does clip open? I need it to open 1.5" + to attach to autoharp |
Answer: | The guitar setting is intended for the notes of the open strings only so each string is numbered 1-6. Chromatic setting reads any note on the fretboard. |
Question: | For some reason the Chromatic Setting reads the correct notes on my guitar down my fretboard, but the guitar setting doesn't. Can someone tell me why |
Answer: | Yes it does work on a 4 string bass. |
Question: | Does it work with bass guitar |
Answer: | I don't know what a pixie harp is. But when trying to tune my autoharp, the metal end that fits over the string peg split. I found it to be a piece of junk! |
