Question: | Will the stand move from vibration from a drum major |
Answer: | Mine is set up with a Pat Perrillo 4 level practice pad. I’ve never had any movement problems and I have the legs spread half way. So I would think it’s sturdy enough. |

User questions & answers
Question: | How does the snare mechanism work |
Answer: | There is a small self contained box underneath the drum pad that is designed to produce a marching Snare like sound, licensed under Patent # 6239340. Sounds good for the money! It is not a real snare mechanism, so it can not be turned on and off. ATTENTION: The carbon fiber surface will wear quickly when using Wood Tip Drumsticks. Nylon Tip Drumsticks are highly recommended in extending the life of the carbon fiber surface • Snare sound, licensed under Patent # 6239340 |
Question: | does it sound like a snare |
Answer: | It sounds like a snare if there's space under the cartridge, like if it's on a concert stand or something. Also, the head on mine cracked very quickly, so I don't recommend this as a long term pad. Get an invader. |
Question: | How can I clean the carbon fiber? I want to remove the paint transfer from my sticks |
Answer: | Wendex |
Question: | Can you take the snare piece out |
Answer: | No, even though there are screws on the bottom, they are dummy screws, and you are unable to remove the snare piece. I even emailed the company about it and that was the response they gave me |
Question: | how is it?Does it work well |
Answer: | Very study and well built |
Question: | Will this stand fit for an 6 inch meinl practice pad |
Answer: | The pad screws on the stand. If that help you. |
Question: | how high will this stand go |
Answer: | 48 inches to the bottom of the practice pad. Way higher than you may need. It has 2 adjustment poles. My issue was not how high, but how low. Sitting at certain chairs in my house, it was a hair too tall to have a 90 degree angle of body and arms extended. That was easily remedied by using a different chair. |
Question: | Does anyone know what thread is used to screw into the back of a drum pad? I need to verify that the thread is |
Answer: | Any pad with a female 8mm thread will fit |

User questions & answers
Question: | Are these really that durable? I have a friend whos a really heavy hitter and breaks wooden sticks within the first 20 minutes |
Answer: | Yes, they really are that durable. I swear by them and no longer use wooden sticks. That said, stick technique is important. Three tips for Ahead users: 1) Use a more glancing strike on cymbals; avoid striking with the sticks perpendicular to the cymbal, 2) No rimshots--EVER, 3) Keep the sticks warm; if they feel cold to the touch, they're too cold. The metal can get brittle and be prone to breaking. In a pinch, you can sit on them to warm them up.Using those tips, I've kept the same 2 pair for over a year, just replacing the tips and sleeves. See Ahead's website for more details. |
Question: | Is it metal |
Answer: | I started playing at age 9 - I am now 60 - I have used just about every stick out there - Once I tried a set of AHEAD Sticks, I won't use anything else _ it did take trying a few pairs before I found the Best "Fit" for my hands, my playing Style - So to recommend the 5A to you, would be doing you a dis-justice - I can in no doubt pass the Sticks with more stars than you can count - 5 Stars, 10 Stars, Simply the best made stick in the world IMO - You will love them, they are balanced, they last forever, and I play my ass off, Led Zeppelin, The Who, RUSH, TOOL, Dream Theater - I will never use anything else unless they come up with a better idea - And I haven't seen one yet since they came out. All you need to do is try them out and zone in on the size that best suits your playing style. I have copied the manufacturers specifications so you can see how they are made - By all means though, go to AHEAD's Website - Crazy Good Sticks FEATURES • All NEW Hyper-Form Engineered swaging process for a longer life span • 50% less shock than wood drumsticks • Last 6 to 10 times longer than wood drumsticks • 5% more rebound than wood drumsticks • High precision alloy core guarantees consistent weight and balance variations of less that 1% • Replaceable covers, tips and rings • High quality, unbreakable nylon tip provides a brighter, more articulate sound • Super-hard polyurethane replaceable covers protect your drumsticks and your gear • Ergonomically tuned handles • Built-in Vibration Control System (VRS) • Limited 60 Day Warranty. Question: | How do these sticks hold up without the covers on them |
Answer: | My daughter is a hard drummer so she used her sticks without the covers but I would recommend using the covers because they can be slippery |
Question: | by pack of 2, it means one pair |
Answer: | Yes 1 pair |

User questions & answers
Question: | Would this work for safety |
Answer: | Mine is a soft case so depending on what one means by "safety" it doesn't provide the protection of a hard shelled case. If one means secure from theft it does not provide any secure way to lock it since it has a zippered opening. |
Question: | Does this have issues with tipping while rolling like other hardware bags |
Answer: | I've never had it tip over. It's more like a suitcase roller bag. You tilt it on it's wheels at an angle and roll it so there really is no way for it to "tip over". After about 6 years of steady use I'm just now having problems with the handle and some of the straps. But that seems to be all normal wear and tear. |
Question: | Is the bag rain proof? thinking of putting it on my car roof rack |
Answer: | I would not put on a roof rack if it is raining as they are not run prof. I have sprayed mine with a fabric protector that adds water resistance to them and they did not get drenched when hauling gear in a truck bed in light rain but moisture still made it through. Also, these bags are tough and big. Holds a lot of gear. I use all DW 9000 stands which are very heavy. I couldn’t imagine trying to put on my roof rack and I am certain it would exceed the maximum weight per my vehicle specifications. I really like these gear bags and would recommend them to anyone gigging 3-6 times a month locally or regionally. |
Question: | is the divider for the drum snare bag removable |
Answer: | Yes its velcro |
Question: | Is the price for one item or a pair |
Answer: | When I purchased them a few months back, the price was for a pair of bass drum spurs. I mounted them using Tama type tom mounts. Just pay attention to the outside diameter of these spurs and the inside diameter of your mount as there are two sizes of these type spurs.... |
Question: | do they fit the standard Ludwig bracket |
Answer: | No for older models! Look up you’re set mine is keystone Ludwig 82 different bass brackets |
