14 best oak drumsticks
Oak drumsticks are a type of drumstick used by drummers in the world of percussion instruments. These drumsticks are made from oak wood, which is known for its durability and resilience. Oak drumsticks have a distinct feel and sound compared to drumsticks made from other materials like hickory or maple.
Here are some key points about oak drumsticks:
Durability: Oak wood is dense and strong, making oak drumsticks less likely to break or chip during intense drumming sessions. This durability is especially valuable for heavy hitters and drummers who prefer a sturdier option.
Weight and Balance: Oak drumsticks tend to be slightly heavier than those made from other woods like hickory. This weight can provide a different feel and balance when playing the drums, which some drummers prefer for specific styles of music.
Sound: Oak drumsticks produce a distinct sound when they strike drumheads and cymbals. They can offer a brighter and louder tone compared to lighter drumsticks, making them suitable for genres like rock and metal where projection and volume are important.
Grip: Oak drumsticks often have a textured surface or grip treatment to improve control and prevent slipping during playing.
Variations: Just like drumsticks made from other materials, oak drumsticks come in various shapes, sizes, and tip designs to cater to different drumming styles and preferences.
It's important for drummers to choose drumsticks that align with their playing style and the sound they want to achieve. Oak drumsticks are a popular choice among drummers who value durability, power, and a distinctive tone in their drumming.

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this sold as a pair or just a single stick |
Answer: | Drumsticks in ALMOST all cases are sold as a pair. In addition, on Amazon the product that you receive is supposed to match the picture or image shown. Since the picture shows two sticks that is what you SHOULD get. If a seller were to ever send you just one for some weird reason you can contact them and ask for the other stick. Then, if the seller is unresponsive, you can go to Amazon Customer Service for a solution. The ultimate weapon is opening an A-Z case. PLEASE contact the seller before ever doing that however as an A-Z is EXTREMELY damaging to a seller. ALSO, Amazon rules state you must contact the seller before opening one and they are actually beginning to enforce that part of the rule as well. Communication is the key element. |
Question: | Does the set actually have Neil Peart's signature incribed |
Answer: | I've purchased 2 pairs and Neil's signature is on the sticks. Whether it's a a good facsimile or an auto pen or whatever, I got the sticks to use them so the signature is irrelevant to me. I like oak sticks and these are really good and durable. Don't know about collectability, they're just drumsticks |

User questions & answers
Question: | I'm new to promark and wanted to ask what is 808 is 5a 5b or close to it |
Answer: | I've experienced with many types of sticks over the years, Promark 808 seem to be the best for the type of music I play as well as my personal style. 808 have a light feel and a strong, powerful attack on the toms. Similar to 747, but nothing like 5a or 5b. 808 are my favorite, but always so hard to find, have to order. So now I play with 747 oak, wood tip. Not hickory! They chip too easy. Hope this helps. |

User questions & answers
Question: | What type (rebound, normal, forward) would you recommend for complicated rhythms and fills on a drumset |
Answer: | It is honestly A preference thing for the most part. I find personally that I have a bit more speed with the forward balanced one than with normal. I have a drummer friend that hates forward balanced and swears by his normal balanced Vic Firths. I believe I went with the Forward balanced 5B and I love them. I hope this helps a bit. |
Question: | What size would be best for marching |
Answer: | I have always used 5A for drumset and as an all around stick size for concert snare work. Believe most people prefer a thicker size for marching, like a 5B but its been a long time since I played a marching snare. |
Question: | What is the difference between 'classic', 'forward balance', and 'rebound balance'? Buying for son using on snare drum and also electric drum kit |
Answer: | Classic is a standard weight, the forward for me was better hitting on cymbals being a little heaver, and the rebound for me was a lighter weight same size just better bounce on the snare. I'd go for the rebound 5A would be best for snare rebound hits and the electric kit.Regards,Joe |
Question: | Looking forward to buy a stack of 12. Do you guys have them in 12 pak or any pak |
Answer: | They come to us in bricks of 6. |

FireGrain Technology
Promark's most durable hickory drumsticks ever. FireGrain utilizes a revolutionary heat-tempering process that transforms ordinary hickory drumsticks into precision tools with unprecedented durability. While keeping their original weight, balance, and feel, Promark FireGrain sticks allow drummers to hit harder and play longer, naturally. No excess vibration, no space age gimmicks, just natural hickory, hardened by flame.
Flame Tempered
Using our revolutionary heat-tempering process, we transform ordinary hickory into drumsticks with unprecedented durability. This age-old technique has been updated and revolutionized for the 21st century to bring drummers unmatched natural strength.
Natural Feel
Unlike other drumsticks that use synthetic alternatives or certain wood types that transmit excessive vibrations, FireGrain drumsticks retain the natural feel, weight, and balance that you would expect from regular hickory. Available in Classic, Forward and Rebound Balance models across a variety of sizes.
Added Durability
At our state-of-the-art sawmill in Elkton, TN, we employ an advanced dowel sorting process to select the highest quality, most durable wood from each hickory tree we process. This means that before they’re even subjected to our proprietary heat tempering process, FireGrain sticks are already made from the best and strongest hickory around.
