User questions & answers

Question: how heavy is the neck? I found truss rod on classical guitar make it pretty heavy
Answer: No, I will not buy another nylon string that doesn't have a truss rod.
Question: the bridge is still in place but I can easily slip a thin paper under it in the central part from the back, nearly 8mm. No glue there. Is that normal
Answer: I would say that is not normal. It sounds like the top is warped. I would contact the manufacturer it should be warrantied.
Question: Strangely the tuning peg button broke on the bass 6th string. Can anyone recommend a replacement? It spins now it's cracked, making tuning impossible
Answer: Contact Córdoba. They have very good customer service. There is a three year warranty on the guitar. Contact me if you need more help. Calido Guitars
Question: What's the difference between this and the Cordoba C9 parlor
Answer: The C9 parlor is all solid wood, cedar top and mahogany. The Dolce is solid cedar top and laminate mahogany back and sides. Thank you, Daniel Calido Guitars

Cordoba Requinto 1/2, Small Body, Acoustic Nylon String Guitars, Iberia Series

Cordoba Guitars

Based on 24 reviews Check latest price

Product description

Cordoba's 1/2 size Requinto guitar is handmade with a solid cedar top and mahogany back and sides. The hand-inlaid all-natural wood rosette and Indian rosewood detailing distinguishes this model from other guitars in this price range. It is designed with the traditional 5-fan Torres style bracing to produce a rich Spanish sound in spite of its diminutive string length. Ideal for children learning how to play nylon string guitars. Winner of Winter NAMM 2010 Best in Show.

The Requinto comes strung with high tension Savarez guitar strings, which are meant to be used in standard E tuning. Because the scale length of this guitar is slightly shorter than a full size guitar, the tension will be slightly lower than a full sized guitar as a result, but will still play very well in standard tuning. The Requinto can be tuned up as high as a minor third up to G standard tuning, which will increase the tension, but any tunings higher than this are not recommended, as the added stress of the higher string tension of these tunings will compromise the long term health of the instrument.

  • Solid Canadian cedar top
  • Mahogany back and sides
  • Lightweight, 1/2 size classical
  • 47mm nut width
  • Savarez Cristal Corum strings in High Tension, 500CJ

Cordoba C9 Parlor Small Body Classical Acoustic Nylon String Guitar, Luthier Series, with Polyfoam Case

Cordoba Guitars

Based on 63 reviews Check latest price

Product description

The Cordoba C9 Parlor* is ideal for the player looking for the feel, comfort, and ease of playability that a smaller instrument provides, while retaining the sweet, warm tone created by all-solid wood construction. Built with a solid Canadian cedar top with solid mahogany back and sides, the C9 Parlor features a 7/8 body size, 50mm nut width, and the fan bracing pattern found on most Cordoba guitars. This bracing pattern gives the center of the soundboard more surface area to vibrate and respond to the tension of the strings. A more responsive soundboard makes the guitar louder, and provides better tone.

Like every guitar in the Luthier series, the C9 Parlor is built with Spanish heel construction, where the top of the guitar is attached to the neck, the sides are added next, and the guitar’s body is sealed by the installation of the back. This construction technique allows the entire instrument to vibrate as one unified piece.

Aesthetic touches like the mother-of-pearl weave rosette inspired by a 1920’s Domingo Esteso guitar add a touch of vintage elegance to this best-seller. Other premium features include a rosewood fingerboard, rosewood bridge, high gloss finish, and Savarez Cristal Corum strings. The C9 Parlor includes Cordoba’s lightweight polyfoam case.

*With the introduction of the C10 Parlor, Cordoba decided to rename the model previously titled “C9 Dolce” to “C9 Parlor.” We felt the word “Parlor” was a better, more universal descriptor of a small body instrument. No features of the guitar were changed aside from the name.

  • Solid Canadian cedar top with solid mahogany back and sides
  • Lightweight, 7/8 size classical guitar
  • Hand inlaid Mother-of-Pearl "Esteso" Rosette
  • Rosewood fingerboard and Indian rosewood bridge
  • Includes Cordoba Polyfoam case

User questions & answers

Question: Thinking about getting the c7 but would u think the c9 is better quality and better sounding guitar
Answer: I havent seen the C7 to be able to compare the two. I can only say that the C9 is a beautifully constructed instrument with a rich tone. It is a pleasure and joy to play.
Question: Where is the cordoba c9 cd/mh made? thanks, in advance
Answer: The Cordoba C9 is made in China. Thank you! Calido Guitars
Question: Is the Guitar Saddle Bridge made of bone
Answer: Yes, the saddle and nut are both made of bone. This is a very nice sounding guitar. Please let us know if we can help. We set up all of our guitars in our shop before shipping. All the best,DanielCalido Guitars
Question: Does anyone find buzzing sound on the 4,5 and 6 strings? (I have this issue with mine
Answer: You need more relief in the neck. Tighten the truss rod screw about 1/4 turn at a time until the buzzing stops. This will introduce relief (relief causes a slight bowing of the neck which will fix the buzzing problem). After the relief is adjusted you may need to adjust saddle height to get your preferred sting height at the 12th fret.

User questions & answers

Question: what strings do these take? I'm looking to replace mine but i dont know what specific type to get
Answer: The strings that come on most Cordoba guitars are Savarez 500CJ, but the CP100 comes with D'Addario EJ27H High Tension strings. You might want to try a mixed tension string set like the Augustine Regal Blue or Savarez 500ARJ. These strings have high tension basses and normal/low tension trebles. Most classical guitars sound really good with these mixed sets.Good luck! So many good choices. :)DanielCalido Guitars
Question: Is this guitar full size
Answer: Yes, it is full size, solid cedar top, matte finish. Very good guitar for beginners. Easy to play and sounds very good. Thanks!DanielCálido Guitars
Question: Would this be a good beginner flamenco guitar? Can you give me a few reccomendations
Answer: I am very satisfied with this guitar. I like the sound of it when I play. (Often, I will use a Dunlop 88N capo to modify the guitar's tone.) I do recommend this guitar for a beginner and the price is right. I think it's a great deal. I paid $150 and I see the price now is $145. You get a digital tuner, a few picks, a guitar bag and they pay the freight. After I bought my Cordoba CP100, I visited Guitar Center and never saw a similar guitar in the same price range. I recommend going to You Tube and watch videos on how to play guitar. The video is free and you can watch it over and over if you need to. In my opinion, the digital tuner was a game changer for me. Prior to the digital tuner, I would tune my old guitar "by ear". After I watched a You Tube video on how to tune a guitar with a digital tuner, everything changed. The Cordoba guitar sounds so good when it is tuned using the digital tuner. In my opinion, the Cordoba CP100 is a good deal and I recommend it......Ted

Cordoba Guitars

Based on 134 reviews Check latest price

Product description

The new Cordoba Mini M is the ultimate travel instrument, offering the playability of a full size guitar in a compact, lightweight body with an impressively loud voice. This miniature guitar features a solid spruce top paired with mahogany back and sides for a clear, complex tone. It has a scale length of 20.125" (510 mm), and is tuned just like a guitar - either in standard E or up a 4th to A (ADGCEa - recommended and factory spec for the most vibrant tone). The Cordoba Mini M is a perfect companion for road trips, vacations, and hanging out at home. Includes a Cordoba gig bag.

  • Solid spruce top with mahogany back and sides

  • Natural satin finish
  • Custom Aquila string set, tuned to A
  • Includes custom Cordoba gig bag
  • Lightweight body with an impressively loud voice
  • Hand orientation: Right Handed

User questions & answers

Question: How do I get this to sound great tuned in E
Answer: You can buy a set of E strings from Cordoba.
Question: Anyone know the difference between the cordoba mini o version and mini m version
Answer: Hello Giles, the difference is a matter of materials used: Mini M - Top Wood:Solid Spruce Back & Sides Wood:Mahogany Mini O - Top Wood:Solid Ovangkol Back & Sides Wood:Ovangkol There's lots of YouTube videos of the Córdoba Mini's, would be a good idea to get an impression from there! Good luck and kind regards, Victor, the Netherlands
Question: What is the length of the guitar. Would it play comfortably for my 4'3" child
Answer: The Mini M is 30.5" long, scale length is 510mm. This is the same as a ½ size guitar. That is a perfect size for a child 4'3" tall. You might also consider the Cordoba C1 Protege ½ size or the Cordoba C5 Requinto which is also ½ size. We provide free setup in our shop before shipping for all guitars. Please let us know if we can help. Thanks,DanielCalido Guitars
Question: Can I use regular classical strings guitar? Which tension
Answer: Yes, you can. I recommend the D'Addario EJ94 Requinto strings. It sounds really good. The scale length of the Cordaba Mini is 20". The length of a classical guitar with a capo on the 5th fret is 19.2". So the same A tuning on the Cordoba Mini using classical guitar strings makes it too high tension. The Requinto scale length is 21.3", making the strings somewhat lower tension on the Cordoba Mini. I like normal tension and found that it is much easier to play with the D'Addario EJ94 Requinto than with classical guitar strings (I tried both). Use a bead to tie up the strings as other said.

User questions & answers

Question: Please clarify—is this right or left handed? One comment says it is a great left handed guitar? I’m confused
Answer: The listing you have here is for right handed. There is a C5 Lefty, but it is a totally different listing. Thank you, Daniel Calido Guitars
Question: Can this product be used by right handed people by changing order of the strings
Answer: I agree with the previous response that you have to change the nut, but you also need to change the saddle as the bass side is higher than the treble, not much, but enough to cause buzzing on the bass strings sometimes. You can try it and see. If it buzzes on the basses, then you need to get a new saddle, too. Do you have a C5 lefty you want to convert? If not, then just buy a regular C5. If you are trying to convert, then contact us and we can send you a right handed nut and saddle. They are not expensive. Good luck!DanielCalido Guitars
Question: How does the c5 spruce compare to the c7 sp
Answer: Both are solid Spruce top, the C5 has laminate mahogany back/sides, C7 has laminate Indian Rosewood back/sides.
Question: Does this guitar have a high action from the 10th fret onwards? Would the action be that of a classical guitar or a steel string acoustic
Answer: This is a traditional classical guitar, so the action will be consistent with a classical guitar. The only difference with this model is the cutaway. That being said, our shop can adjust the action of the instrument before shipping. If you prefer lower action, let us know. There are limits to how low it can be, however.
