10 best electric violin strings

Electric violin strings are a critical component of electric violins, and they play a crucial role in producing the instrument's sound. These strings are specifically designed for use with electric violins, which differ from traditional acoustic violins in their sound production. Here's what you need to know about electric violin strings:

  1. Materials: Electric violin strings are typically made from materials like steel, nickel, or synthetic materials, rather than the traditional gut strings used on acoustic violins. These materials are chosen for their ability to produce a clear and consistent sound when amplified.

  2. Gauge: Electric violin strings come in various thicknesses, known as gauges. The choice of gauge can significantly impact the instrument's tone and playability. Thicker strings tend to produce a louder and fuller sound, while thinner strings may be more responsive to playing techniques.

  3. Tension: The tension of electric violin strings can also vary. Higher tension strings require more force to press down on the fingerboard, which can affect the playability and feel of the instrument. Musicians often choose a tension that suits their playing style and preferences.

  4. Winding: Electric violin strings may have different winding patterns. Common winding types include plain (unwound), silver-wound, and tungsten-wound. The winding material can influence the string's tonal characteristics.

  5. Tone and Sound: The choice of electric violin strings can significantly impact the instrument's tone and sound quality. Different strings may produce brighter or warmer tones, and musicians often experiment with various string brands and models to achieve their desired sound.

  6. Durability: Electric violin strings are designed to withstand the unique demands of amplified playing. They are less susceptible to environmental factors, such as humidity, which can affect the stability of gut strings.

  7. Compatibility: Not all electric violin strings are suitable for every electric violin. It's essential to choose strings that are compatible with the specific model and design of the instrument to ensure optimal performance.

  8. String Sets: Electric violin strings are typically sold in sets of four, corresponding to the four strings on the violin (G, D, A, and E). Some manufacturers offer string sets designed to work together to achieve a balanced and harmonious tone.

  9. Maintenance: Like all strings, electric violin strings require regular maintenance. This includes tuning, cleaning, and occasional replacement when they become worn or lose their tone quality.

  10. Brand and Model Variations: There are many brands and models of electric violin strings available on the market, each with its unique characteristics. Musicians often experiment with different brands and models to find the strings that best suit their playing style and musical genre.

In conclusion, electric violin strings are a crucial component of electric violins, designed to produce a clear and consistent sound when amplified. The choice of materials, gauge, tension, and winding pattern can significantly affect the instrument's tone and playability, making it important for musicians to select strings that align with their preferences and musical goals.

User questions & answers

Question: Do these work on electric violins
Answer: Cecilio CVN-200 has bright and clear sound. Mendini MV200 and MV300: same quality but with different finish. Both have mellow and warm sound. Mendini MV400: Ebony fittings, has bright and clear sound Mendini MV500: Ebony fittings, has deep rich and powerful tone
Question: how many strings come in these packets? is it just one, all or half
Answer: you have to tune it and rosin up the bow
Question: Are these ball ends
Answer: This is because the pegs are not tapered to fit the pegs. They are only drilled straight through. They must be hand fitted for the pegs to stay put after tuning. These instruments take many shortcuts to make them cheaper. That is a big problem as the student will get frustrated (and so will their teacher) and all too often will quit playing because of the cheap method of construction. Do Not Buy Any Super Cheap Instruments!!! Would you expect a super cheap car to be reliable and safe? Of course not!! Why do you think this is different?
Question: I´m just learning to play. What does medium, heavy, light tension mean? Which should I buy
Answer: It does not come with extra set of string.

User questions & answers

Question: What kind of shoulder rest do you need
Answer: Nathan, the Yamaha-branded strings that came on the EV-205 were manufactured by Super-Sensitive, and are all-but-identical to their Sensicore line of Perlon®-core strings. Since NS Electrics are a braided steel core string, they will present as a bit louder and noticeably brighter than the Yamaha-branded strings.

User questions & answers

Question: Do you plug the headphones directly into it or plug it into an amp and the headphones out of the amp
Answer: You can plug your headphones directly into it.
Question: Can you attach shoulder straps to the case or does the case come with straps
Answer: There were straps on the case already attached but I never loosened them because the violin was cracked.
Question: Hi, I'm really interested in this product, but will the strings of the violin be tuned
Answer: Hello Firas A. I saw your question about the violin strings, and I did a ton of research on this before I got it, so I'm to help another person do the same. I got this thing earlier this year, being a newbie at the violin thing, so I'm not an expert critic on the product. However, when I received mine, my strings were installed, but not in tune. The bridge had also fallen over (the light-wood thing that holds the strings up), but that was easy to re-erect. I found a free violin tuner app for my phone, and used that to tune my violin. The strings aren't the greatest quality, but they will work until you can get them replaced with a set of good ones. Over all, the whole deal wasn't bad. Just be sure to buy a shoulder rest....
Question: Someone told me that this violin does not come with strings when you buy it, is that true
Answer: This violin comes with all the strings. I am very satisfied with the purchase as I play every week for my church and since I'm the only stringed instrument I need to be heard!

This violin package includes a well-padded lightweight hard case, a bow, rosin, bridge, pickup, aux cable, and headphones. Great for Student, Intermediate and Professional Violinist.

How to choose violin sizes

Violins are available in 8 different sizes: 4/4 (also called full size), 3/4, 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/10, 1/16 and 1/32. Size 4/4 is the biggest and size 1/32 is the smallest. All adults, regardless of their size, use the size 4/4 violin.

To measure what size violin best suits you, you need to know the length between your neck and the middle of your left-hand palm (when your hand is fully extended and raised perpendicular to your body, just like holding a violin). Most of the teachers prefer students to use the length from the neck to the wrist for measurement instead of the neck to mid-palm approach. The violin size determined by the neck/wrist approach would be the size that is more comfortable for students to hold. The violin size determined by the neck/mid-palm approach would be the biggest size students should use. The following table lists the length of each violin size. Find your length using your preferred approach and use that to determine the size of violin to get.

If you have a teacher, you should ask for your teacher's recommendation. If you don't have a teacher, we would recommend using the neck/wrist approach for students not using full size; for students who are deciding whether to used size 3/4 or size 4/4, use the neck/mid-palm approach. This is because it is always better those students feeling comfortable holding and playing the violin. However, while deciding between size 3/4 and size 4/4, if neck/mid-palm approach allows for size 4/4, then buying a size 4/4 is more economical since you don't have to buy another bigger size violin later. This is completely based on economical consideration. You should still decide what best suits your need.

User questions & answers

Question: can you plug it into a amp because the images do not show a jack
Answer: Yes. There are 3 sockets on the back of violin. One is "Line out" (for amp). One is "Mic" and one is "Phones". The Included cord for the amp is a little over 9 feet and is decent quality. There is no static backround noise and my violin comes in clear. *In the stock photo the amp cable is to the right of the headphones.
Question: How can I plug it to my laptop? There is a chord but it doesn't fit the computer outlet
Answer: It has a quarter inch plug, look for either an A to D connector, or (more easily a rocksmith cable) a USB interface. Electric instruments are almost all the same you'll never have the same sound as an acoustic. But it will give you a unique and interesting sound. Especially at this price point.
Question: how quiet is it? I would be practicing during my toddlers nap time and need it to be very very quiet/silent with out an amp or head phones
Answer: I get about 81 dB playing open strings. It’s not so quiet.
Question: Does the kit come with strings attached or must you string them yourself
Answer: The strings come attached. In fact, as soon as my violin came in, I took it to my local music store (who strung my acoustic violin) to have him check it out to see if the violin and strings are of good quality. He thought is was decent quality. I couldn't be happier with it, especially for the price. When you first get it, you will have to re-tune the strings every 10 minutes or so while you are playing, but after about a week of re-tuning (and it does need tuning less frequently with time) you are good to go. It doesn't hold a tune as well as my acoustic...I tune it before I begin playing usually, but it does hold well and the sound is fantastic. You can play it through an amp or into headphones and I think the sound quality is awesome. Hope this helps. :)

User questions & answers

Question: Hi What is the extra black piece under the bridge
Answer: Yes, and Electric Violin Shop also provides a full setup of the violin for free.
Question: How long is the instrument
Answer: Yes it will fit in a regular 4x4 violin case. Yes, you can use pretty much any normal shoulder rest and chin rest on this instrument. I love mine!
Question: pictures are real? have more pictures? and, strings comes with violin? or another pack ? thanx
Answer: Hi Arnold, the YEV105NT actually comes with a Zyex 4 string composite violin set and a Helicore violin C string, since Zyex doesn't make a violin length C string. However, you can use any violin strings on this instrument (we'd recommend a true violin C string if possible -- Sensicore, Helicore, and NS electrics all make a violin C).
Question: is the pick up powered by 9v battery
Answer: Yes, the fifth string is a C, so it covers the pitches CGDAE. The scale length, however, is that of a violin rather than a viola, so it will feel familiar to play if you're a violinist.

User questions & answers

Question: Can this violin play with earphone? Does it include the fine adjustment on the strings
Answer: I have a small kong for a small dog. I inserted the milk bone into the kong and it did not fall out. It only took my dog, a Shitzu-French Poodle mix, about 3 minutes to get the treat out.
Question: Is this violin can play without electric too? can it play a regular violin
Answer: Distributed by does not mean 'Made in the USA.' They are distributed by Del Monte, but nowhere on the box does it say where the treats are currently baked, where the origins of the ingredients come from, etc. When in doubt, they're likely Made in China. Taken from the back of the box, "We made our first biscuit over a century ago in a little bakery on the Lower East Side of New York City. We still use the same high quality and wholesome ingredients to make the original bone-shaped dog treat." This wording is deceiving if you only read this statement once. Sure they WERE made in NYC more than 100 years ago, but do you think they are doing that now? I found no website (except for the unreliable Wikipedia) stating that Milkbones are made in the US. Can someone prove otherwise?
Question: How would you plug this in for headphones? I don't want to disturb my housemates
Answer: Yes these expire but i takes more than a year the ones i got, Well they are all ready gone my dog love them
Question: Does this violin kill demons
Answer: These are made for dogs. I don't think a human would want to eat them or like them.
