| Answer: | The metal alloy is Stainless Steel likely type 303 which is used on many culinary tools. There are many type of Stainless Steel alloys and all will rust if given a chance. The type 303 has extra Chromium that makes it quite difficult to rust though. The cost of this alloy is much higher that many others but OXO wants their customers to me happy with their products. Now as for the spring that opens and closes the tongs. Not sure what material it's made from. But washing it in the dishwasher will reduce any products lifespan due to the harsh caustic detergent and high heat water boost. If you want things to last you may want to hand wash these. |
