11 best calipers with lcds

Calipers with LCDs are precision measuring instruments commonly used in various industries, including manufacturing, engineering, and quality control. These digital calipers provide highly accurate and easy-to-read measurements using a digital liquid crystal display (LCD). Here are some key features and information about calipers with LCDs:

  1. Measurement Accuracy: Calipers with LCDs offer high measurement accuracy, typically with resolutions as fine as 0.01 millimeters (0.0005 inches) or even finer. This level of precision is crucial in applications where precise dimensional measurements are required.

  2. LCD Display: The LCD display on these calipers provides a clear and easy-to-read readout of the measured value. It eliminates the need for users to interpret analog scale markings, making measurements faster and more reliable.

  3. Digital Readout: The digital readout on these calipers can be set to display measurements in various units, including millimeters, inches, or fractions, depending on the user's preference and the specific application.

  4. Zero Reset: Most digital calipers with LCDs have a zero-reset function, allowing users to reset the measurement reference point quickly. This feature is useful for taking incremental measurements.

  5. Data Output: Some models of calipers come equipped with data output capabilities, such as USB ports or wireless connectivity, allowing measurements to be recorded and analyzed digitally on a computer or other devices.

  6. Absolute and Relative Measurement: Many digital calipers offer both absolute and relative measurement modes. Absolute mode retains the reference point even after the caliper is turned off, while relative mode allows users to measure the difference between two positions.

  7. Auto Shut-Off: To conserve battery life, digital calipers often feature an auto shut-off function that turns off the device after a period of inactivity.

  8. Material and Build: Calipers with LCDs are typically constructed from stainless steel or other durable materials to withstand harsh industrial environments. They are designed to be resistant to dust and moisture, ensuring accurate measurements even in challenging conditions.

  9. Jaw Types: These calipers may come with various jaw types, such as outside jaws for external measurements, inside jaws for internal measurements, and depth probes for depth measurements. The choice of jaw type depends on the specific measurement requirements.

  10. Calibration and Certification: Regular calibration and certification of digital calipers are essential to maintain measurement accuracy and traceability to industry standards.

  11. Battery Power: Digital calipers are powered by batteries, which are usually included with the instrument. Some models also feature low-battery indicators to alert users when it's time to replace the batteries.

  12. Storage Case: Many calipers come with a protective storage case to prevent damage and contamination when not in use.

In summary, calipers with LCDs are advanced measuring tools that provide precise and easy-to-read dimensional measurements. They are widely used in industrial and scientific applications where accuracy and repeatability are critical. User questions & answers

Question: can i use this to measure screws? i mixed up a bunch of screws in a bag and have no idea what size is which
Answer: Yes, you can use this device to measure screws. You can check both the diameter of a screw and its length. You should know that some U.S. diameters are not given in ordinary length units. For example, sizes 6, 8 and 10. In order to classify the unknown screws, you could just get some known screws, measure them and write down the diameter of each of the known diameters, then compare the unknown ones with the figures you wrote down. On the other hand, length of screws in the U.S. always seem to be measured in inches, so you can set the caliper to read out in inches. You will have to translate, for example, 1.500 inches to 1-1/2 inches. However, the decimal numbers are seldom exactly what you expect. You have to assume that the numbers might vary by up to about 1/64 inch (about 0.016 inch).
Question: are these tips hardened? Thanks
Answer: Yes, the tips are hardened so they don't flex and dull out.
Question: What kind of batteries do these calipers use
Answer: Copy and paste this - 50 357 Alkaline Watch Batteries LR44 AG13 SR44W Battery - for a lot of 50 battery cells that work for this Caliper.
Question: Does this item come pre-calibrated? Will you be able to provide document on the calibration
Answer: You cannot trace the calibration back to the NIST. If you crave calibration, then calibrate it yourself against a calibrated set of gages. You can't buy calibration for this price range.

User questions & answers

Question: Does the thumb friction wheel rotates freely once the jaws are closed at the require force
Answer: no they do not. they are not like micrometers which do have a ratchet or some sort of friction thimble that wont let you tighten them any more. calipers are not as precise as a micrometer because of this.
Question: This is the second one I have purchased. Both of them when I install the supplied battery the display just blinks/ flashes
Answer: Good afternoon,I apologize for the trouble. Please try using something dull and skinny such as a paperclip to try pushing the origin button. The origin button is very hard to press because it is not meant to be pressed on a regular basis. Our authorized Mitutoyo repair technicians use a dull rounded tip pick to press origin buttons. Also, the origin button sometimes needs to be pressed for up to 5 seconds. I reccomend that you try holding it for at least 10 seconds just to ensure you've held it long enough. Please let me know if this suggestions do not help and I will be happy to help you further!Thank you very much for your time and have a nice evening! Sincerely,WillMSI-Viking Gage
Question: Who needs a calibration certificate? I am DIY woodworker to use with a lathe etc, so would the non calibrated one work for me
Answer: It's generally something pertinent only to professional use of the item, and even then usually only under truly precision operations (if measuring to the resolution of a hundredth of an inch is sufficient for you, a calibration certificate would be overkill IMO); There's no substantive difference between a calibrated and non-calibrated caliper. However, some employers will require that their employees utilize measuring tools certified for use according to ISO/IEC standards; Basically, it helps to minimize (though doesn't fully prevent) human error and inconsistencies across measuring devices. Even if it doesn't create a pragmatic concern with regards to tolerances involved in building a given object, if two people using two identical calipers get different measurements from each of their own calipers then it can cause confusion and wasted time/money isolating what the "truth" is, and if those individuals are plugged into the overall production chain in a way where their measurements will be utilized by others then it can manifest in a ripple-effect that multiplies the severity of the discrepancy by the time the unit is nearing the end of the production line. DIYers generally shouldn't concern themselves with getting a calibration-certified unit they're DIYing themselves a space shuttle to withstand re-entry into the atmosphere. Or unless they just want to rest easy that their caliper is objectively precise to a ridiculous degree; If you want to be sure that the measurement you take of any given item is the same measurement that, say, a CIA machinist and engineer may derive when measuring the same item in their shop.
Question: is this caliper made in japan or some imported chinese junk from china
Answer: What is the current (February 2019) status on where the Amazon-sold Mitutoyo 500-196-30 Advanced ONsite Sensor, absolute scale Digital Caliper is made? Is it Japan or China?

User questions & answers

Question: Do you sell this instrument with a storage case
Answer: yes
Question: How to change battery in 3" digital caliper
Answer: What model do you have? This question is listed under the 6 inch caliper, General Tool Model 147. Your question states 3 inch caliper. The procedure for the 6 inch Model 147 is as follows:The battery compartment is the small shiny plated panel to the right of the display, above the word zero. 1. Flip the caliper so that the digital display is face down.2. Remove only the top screw. Do not remove the bottom screw that is near adjustment roller. The screw appears to be captured by the housing, but take care not to lose the screw. 3. The top of the panel (held by the screw removed above) should flip outward. The bottom of the panel is held by a tab.4. Remove the panel. 5. Note the battery polarity. On mine, a SR-44 battery, the positive side is visible with the battery installed. 6. Replace the battery. 7. Insert the tab on bottom of the panel, in the slot of the bezel housing. 8. Push the panel downward. Carefully start the screw and tighten. Do not over tighten the screw. I hope this helps. Again this is for the Model 147 six inch caliper.
Question: In the fractional mode, does it only display 64ths? Or does it display in 32s, 16ths, 8ths, etc when appropriate
Answer: It displays the proper (reduced) fraction - 8ths, 16ths, 32nds & 64ths....
Question: is this made in the usa
Answer: No, I don't believe so. That being said, it is much better quality than similar calipers. It is in a nicer case, plus the fractional feature is handy. It is a much better investment than many similar chinese made tools.

User questions & answers

Question: Can this be used for sizing beads and stones for jewelry making
Answer: Yes. It's a real micrometer and works as it should. I use it for musical instrument repairs so it would work for measuring beads although it may not work for measuring the inside diameter of the hole in a bead since the measurement tips might not fit in the hole. But its a standard micrometer at a pretty good price.
Question: Is it made in China
Answer: Yes, Made in China for Wilmar Corp. under trade name Performance Tool. It does have a Limited Lifetime Warranty and is actually a very nice tool we rely on in our warehouse on a daily basis.
Question: will it read 1/10s of mm
Answer: Yes it does that.
Question: The battery is in the lower door, what is the little sliding door on the top for? It looks like it has contacts on the PC board
Answer: yes, that is the "computer chip" which can theoretically be replaced but given the costs of the unit, clearly not worth the trouble & expense.

Product description

The Fowler full one year warranty electronic caliper, 54-101-150-2, has a 0 to 6” (0 to 150mm) measuring range with 0.0005” (0.01mm) increments for precision and a stainless steel frame for long life. Its digital readout LCD shows inch or metric units for versatility, and either absolute or incremental measurement readings are user-selectable. The electronic caliper measures inside, outside, depth and step values for versatility and includes a protective case and CR2032 lithium battery. This product has 1 year arranty offered by Fowler High Precision. If you experience any problem contact Fowler directly for warranty claims. Digital or electronic calipers are measuring instruments commonly used for inspection in manufacturing to provide the precise measurements of an object. A pair of jaw attached to a long beam with a marked scale is used to take inside, outside and step measurements. An additional depth probe slides along the beam to take depth measurements. One jaw is fixed t the end of the scale, while the other jaw slides along it with gearless precision to take measurements. The reading is electronically generated and displayed on a digital, high-resolution screen as a single value. Digital calipers can take differential measurements, which are used to determine the difference in measurements between two objects, by zeroing the display at any point along the scale. Some digital calipers can switch between standard and metric units, and some can output readings to a computer or printer for reading measurements. Compared to dial calipers, digital calipers provide measurements that are faster, easier and more error-free, but they are more fragile mechanically and electronically, and do not resist coolant well. Vernier calipers are more durable then digital calipers because they do not have internal moving parts, but they can be more difficult to read. Digital calipers are commonly used in fields such as metalworking, mechanical engineering, machining, carpentry and medicine. Fowler High Precision, an American company, manufactures inspection and measurement instruments such as electronic indicators, calipers, bore gages, and digital scales. The company, founded in the USA in 1946, is headquartered in Newton, MA.
