User questions & answers
Question: | Has anyone tried painting the guard with rustoliom? if i do will it be safe for my fish? or with a cement pond can i skip the guard |
Answer: | Yes, you could use it with fresh water plants. But if you plan on having some very light demanding plants, you might want to add an addition extra light (making it 2 fixtures). |
Question: | Does anyone know how big this is? I need something like this that is larger than 12 inches in diameter |
Answer: | They make lights for freshwater that will be less money ... |
Question: | Does the guard suppose to come with the required hardware for attaching to the heater? I returned one because the hardware was missing |
Answer: | I am using it on a 120 gallon tank. It is bright enough for general lighting needs. If you have corals you will probably need two. The real question is whether it will fit on your corner tank depending on the dimensions. |
Question: | What is the point of this guard for the deicer? I've had other deicers and never had to buy an extra part for them |
Answer: | Yes, the 36 inch light will work. There is also a bracket that you can buy separately so that the light is suspended from the back and gives you more elbow room to maintain your tank. |

User questions & answers
Question: | How much does it rust |
Answer: | It’ll rust a little but not enough to interfere with its function. |
Question: | I have a 210-gallon hot tub; will it keep it from freezing in a power outage with temps close to zero |
Answer: | No it will not keep the complete tub from freezing. |
Question: | Using to keep ice bath from freezing outside, will it still work if its sitting sorta tilted & not flat |
Answer: | I don’t know what an ice bth is.This heater drops to the bottom.. I don’t see any reason why it would matter if it isn’t a flat bottom or if the heater is at an angle as long as the water space is large enough for the heater to be submerged. But I don’t actually understand your situation. Sorry I can’t be any more helpful. |
Question: | Can this be used in a pond that has turtles in it |
Answer: | Yes. I have used them for years in a250 gallon plastic turtle pond over the water pump bottom filter. They only last about 1-2 years though. My turtles sometimes huddle around it. Chicken wire cage is probably a good idea though. But won't burn them under that much water. Don't heat it for very long out of water. Only use with a GFI outlet. |

User questions & answers
Question: | I have the fluval flex 32.5 gallon tank. which heater should i get? thank you |
Answer: | Where do you live? I live in FL where the average temp of my fish room is 75. I have M200 (200W rated for a 65 gallon tank) on my 75 gallon tanks. If you live in Maine, the average temp is probably 60-65 of your fish room. you will need the M300 ( 300W rated for 80 gallons) or maybe 2 of them to heat the same 75 gallon tank. with that said, I think you will be find with the M100 or M50 will be fine for your 32 gallon tank. just make sure they will fit. when you set it up, put the heater in the tank, let it sit for a day or at least a few hours before you turn it on.. see what temp the tank is, turn the heater on the lowest setting and slowly turn it up to the match the tank temp. let it sit there for a hour or so, then set it to what ever temp you want. Don't trust the dial that states what the temp is, it may be off by 1 or 2 degrees. Be sure to monitor the temp for a few days to make any adjustments. Heaters will not change the temp of the tank instantly, it may take a few hours. |
Question: | How long does it take to heat a 15 gallon tank |
Answer: | The instructions say: "Wait 30 minutes before connecting to the electrical outlet. This allows the heater to adjust to the aquarium water temperature. Note that it may take up to 12 hours for the eater to attain the water temperature you have selected." That being said, my experience is that it is quite a bit faster than that. Of course, that depends on what temperature the water started at! (i.e., how cold is your room). Please note that thre 50 watt model is rated for 15 gallon MAX. That means if you want wiggle room, you might consider the 100 watt version. Again, however, my experience is that the 50 watt was adequate for my 15gallon. But my house is not cold. |
Question: | Can it go compleatly under water |
Answer: | Yes it can, "Cord and all" (but not the plug) according to the Fluval representitive I spoke to at Fluval customer service. I've had mine completely submerged ever since and havnt had any problems. Just remember not to keep it on if you have to empty tank water behond the bottom line. |
Question: | Can you adjust the heat with this heater? Does it have a dial |
Answer: | Yes, it's easy to adjust, and keeps the tank a constant temp. |

Product description
The Fluval E Heaters continuously monitor and display aquarium water temperature, ensuring the well-being of your aquarium inhabitants. The E Series features VueTech technology. With the easy to use adjustment lever, the temperature can be precisely set in 0.5° increments. Its LCD display delivers peace of mind by continuously showing real time water temperatures. During normal operation, the temperature readout will change color if the water varies +/-2 degrees F or more from the pre-set temperature. If any external heat sources or other equipment, such as chillers, cause the aquarium water temperature to rise or fall beyond 5.5 °F, the colored screen will flash, indicating a potential risk. The ability to measure temperature in Celsius is also an option. The integrated fish guard offers advanced protection. Fish and invertebrates cannot come into direct contact with the heater core. The glass sleeve is also protected against shocks from large fish species. Built with a secure slim profile mounting bracket, it can be adjusted or removed without removing the mounting bracket. For those with a marine aquarium and sump, you can also attach the Fluval E heater there.
WARNING: The heater must never be operated outside of the aquarium. If the water level falls below the minimum water level MIN, the thermostat can no longer "read” the water temperature and therefore can no longer control the heating correctly. If it has to be taken out of the water or when transferring or changing the water, disconnect the heater from the power source and wait for at least 30 minutes to allow it to cool down.

User questions & answers
Question: | does this heater go in the tank |
Answer: | If you mean the controller you got with the first light then yes. As long as it is the same light. Note, the bracket will have trouble with the two lights. Make sure they are at a 45 degree angle before you put them both on. I have to prop mine up but I love it |
Question: | I just bought this item September of last year and it wont let me adjust the temperature after the initial setting when I first had it |
Answer: | It should |
Question: | What voltage is the plug, and what type of plug is it |
Answer: | 6watt per bulb don't know how many bulbs. It should grow grass |
Question: | Just can't seem to adjust the temp. It flashes 77, but the temp stays at 75. Why |
Answer: | The other answer saying 36" = 24-36" unit is WRONG. I ordered the 48" thinking it would be 36-48" and I received the 48-60" unit. So 36" must = 36-48" unit. |

Question: | What is the height of this? Would it work on a rubber water bucket for a dog |
Answer: | Finnex's webpage has a chart that shows the PAR rating for each of their models. Note that the ratings are for the 48-inch model and were taken at 14 inches through open air. It doesn't say whether these ratings are maximum or average (a distinction I saw on another manufacturer's models). |

User questions & answers
Question: | What are these broken up chemical film particles on surface of water after putting it in |
Answer: | Sounds like you have a lot of protein in the tank that is causing an "oil slick" on the surface. It is unrelated to the heater, other than warmer water may be causing the particles to rise and form the slick. Do a partial water change of 25%. Feed less. |
Question: | Red light keeps turning on and off. Temp stays at 60. I returned it twice so are all of them broken |
Answer: | No, the heaters are not broken, the thermometer is the issue. The red light will not stay on all the time as that would cause it to overheat the tank. It will go on and off every few minutes until it raises the temperature to between 76 and 80 degrees. Then it goes off for a little bit. This will happen more frequently as it is raising the temperature and less often once it gets there. If your home is actually 60 degrees, you will need a larger heater or two heaters in order to properly heat the tank. Heaters are calibrated for an average room temperature of 72 degrees. |
Question: | can this be placed in a plastic tub |
Answer: | Yes, it can be placed in a plastic tub. However, keep in mind it may not attach very firmly, and you do not want it to float up. Do not place anything directly on it, as that could cause it to malfunction, but you might want to build a "cave" around it, to prevent it from floating up out of the water while it is heating. That would definitely cause it to malfunction! Otherwise, there are no issues with using it in a plastic tub, acrylic tank, etc. |
Question: | Would this product be able to heat a 40 gallon tank? I need one to heat my turtle's tank |
Answer: | This heater can heat up to 30 actual gallons of water so if your turtle tank is half to three-quarters of the way full, then yes, it can. If your home is kept cooler than the average room temperature of 72 degrees, we would recommend going up a size in heaters to at least a 150 watt one. For more help, email [email protected]. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can I put the 50 watt in a plastic 3.5 Gallon tank |
Answer: | it came with the top - not sure what you mean by filters. It also doesn't have any rocks or decor. |
Question: | Will this heat a 5 gallon bucket to 85-90 degree Fahrenheit |
Answer: | It comes with a back filter+filter media, heater, water conditioner, bacterial culture and fish food. Everything you need to start up a fish tank. What is NOT included is aquarium gravel, decorations and plants. |
Question: | Is it recommended to mount this heater vertically or horizontally? (box doesn't say |
Answer: | Yes, the front is bowed and the front corners are round instead of seamed, giving it a much more attractive look for a glass tank. The kit came with a Aquaclear 30 filter(very good), 100W heater, outside thermometer, water conditioner and biological additive that's supposed to allow you to add fish immediately. |
Question: | Is 10.6 inches the correct length for the 300w model? I'm skeptical - that seems really short |
Answer: | Yes, I think so. I keep it down on the low flow setting. If it's on high it tends to make a powerful burst in the water that makes the fish shoot downwards when they swim in under it. The only time I ever hear sound is when the tank water gets low and I hear the trickling of the water from the filter down to the tank. I actually really like these filters, the one in my smaller vista tank has held up for almost 3 years. |

This prevents over-heating of the aquarium, saving your prized aquarium life from harm. The heater is constructed of corrosion-resistant titanium, making it safe for freshwater and marine aquariums. The heater tube is virtually unbreakable and features a protective heater guard to prevent aquatic live from accidentally coming in contact with the heating tube. Maintenance: Secure the out-of-water sensor directly beneath the sensor cord clip, without any cord slack, and above the heating element at all times. Clean and confirm the out-of-water sensor is functioning properly every 30 days. Do not use heater if the out-of-water sensor is inoperative. Refer to the instruction manual for proper maintenance and care.

Answer: | It is digital can be set at 73 |
Question: | gallons heated |
Answer: | Indeed, as described in the advertisement, it has two modes, cold and hot, with two speed wind speed. In summer, you can adjust it to natural wind, and you can remotely operate the temperature. How many degrees will it show on it, and it can also be adjusted. Its functions are very complete. The best thing is its 7-color night light. I think that's its feature. The night light is very beautiful and can be turned off when it is not needed. This is a good product It's worth buying. I hope my answer can help you |
Question: | Heater is too long to sit vertical in my tank. Horizontal would be fine. It says it's fully submersible but I'm reading the opposite here. Any help |
Answer: | Normally it makes a little noise, but it's very quiet compared to the smaller ceramic heater I bought two years ago. You can put the heater a little further away, which also makes it look quieter. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Will this help the problem of propane powered generators freezing up under extended heavy use |
Answer: | Well me personally, I’m 6’0 tall it’s about alittle above my knees. Kind of to my thigh. |
Question: | Can you use tbis product while tank is in ise |
Answer: | yes the brackets extend out past the light like 2" on each side |
Question: | Looking to heat up spray foam " foam it green" a&b tanks. is this the correct product and is it max 90 degrees recommended |
Answer: | I use the 24 hr cycle and my plants are thriving. |
Question: | How long will this take to heat if at 0 degrees |
Answer: | You can customize lighting from bright-full-on to completely dark for eight different 3-hour time blocks. So, if you work the late shift, you can set your light to come on at 6PM or 9PM and go off or go dim at midnight (12AM) or 3AM - totally customizable. I love that I can bring the lights on dim first 3 hours, then lighter, then full on, then dimmer, then off so I don't startle my fish, LOL. I also like that you can adjust the number of white, red, green and blue led bulbs that come on, so you can have a reddish, bluish, or greenish hue to the lighting at beginning or end of your day, then full brightness for two 3-hour periods (6 hours total for live plants). |

WarmGuard Heaters Increase Your Tanks Gas Mileage
Do you store gas in cylinder tanks? If so, then you know how the cold can negatively affect the tanks pressure, even during a mild winter. In order to keep your storage from being compromised by a drop in temperature, you need a solution that can both insulate and heat. This is where WarmGuard Gas Cylinder Heaters come into play.
WarmGuard Gas Cylinder Heaters solve this problem by adding a protective barrier that both insulates and heats your tank or cylinder to the ideal temperature needed for optimal pressure maintenance. WarmGuard offers a range of insulated gas cylinder heaters equipped for maintaining temperatures of propane, butane, nitrogen, oxygen, and other compressed gases. WarmGuard Gas Cylinder Heaters offer uniform heat distribution across the entire cylinder. This revolutionary heating solution reduces costs by optimizing container temperatures and increasing cylinder efficiency.
WarmGuard WG20 20lb Gas Cylinder Tank Warmer
- Increases performance and efficiency of gas cylinders.
- Provides even heat distribution.
- Saves money by optimizing gas and material usage.
- Quickly heats cylinder to a preset temperature of 90 °F / 32 °F (±10 °F / 5 °C).
- Eliminates unnecessary cylinder refills in cold weather.
WarmGuard Patented Heat Spreading Technology
When you store pressurized gas in cold temperatures, or any temperature below ideal, then the pressure in your tank is going to be far less than efficient. This is simply due to the molecules of gas moving closer together, just like in your car’s tires. And of course, as the molecules move closer together, the pressure drastically drops. This means when it comes time for extracting the gas from your tank or cylinder, you’re going to run into troubles; it’s going to seem like there isn’t as much gas in there.
WarmGuard WG100 100lb Gas Cylinder Tank Warmer
What’s more, the WarmGuard product line is built using a rugged vinyl shell that is safe to use in temperatures as low as -20° F. So in other words, WarmGuard products can keep your equipment protected well below freezing temperatures.
