Answer:	The description mentions steel, but it could be also be a, ferritic stainless steel which generally are .magnetic while austenitic stainless steels are not. The caster wheel attract a magnet, therefore they could be steel. My assumption they are steel considering the price.

Answer:	2" x 1 3/8" center distance on the slots in the base. In my situation they were screwed to the bottom of 4x4 posts. The overall mounting plate is 2"x 2 3/4" which would make it hang over the edge of a 2x4.

Answer:	Sure. I would just tack weld at the four corners. Take it easy with the heat so you don’t melt the grease out of the bearings. Might want to shield the tires from hot sparks.

Answer:	The locking casters support a very heavy wooden workbench. It consists of seven 8’ sections of 4”X4,” ten 8’ 2”X4” pieces of lumber, one 8’X4’ section of plywood and the metal frame is about 200lbs. I had self calculated the weight of each item used, not including the weight of the glue, nails and screws used to hold the table to the plywood, wheels or legs of the bench. The underside bench is used in my shop to store wood and scrap wood for future projects. The floor is semi smooth but I don’t move it far just enough to move about 10’-20’ for cleaning. It is moved about twice a year. I truly believe with all said the the weight is over 1200lbs. It moves smoothly each time. I hope this helps.

Question:	Could I use these wheels for a miter saw stand? Are they able to be used on a grassy surface
Answer:	Joshua please refer to my review titled “Excellent Value - Compare With Home Centers,” with photo and video. I used the 3” casters with brakes for some of my mobile carts. These caster would definitely work for a miter saw stand. My carts stay in the garage or driveway. I haven’t tried them on grass. Perhaps a 4” or 5” caster might roll sufficiently on a low cut burmuda grass, not likely on bluegrass or fescue. I would think any moisture in the grass to migrate to the caster bearings, increasing friction and rust. That would be true of virtually any caster.
Question:	Locking casters can be a chore to get unlocked due to lack of surface area for my 'toe' under the lever. Are these frustrating to use or
Answer:	They have been pretty easy for me to lock and unlock. No problem getting my toe underneath.
Question:	Is polyurethane a very hard material i.e. scratch floors, does not roll over a small stones on a hard surface or like a hard rubberized material
Answer:	Appears to be semi-hard. They roll quietly which indicates to me they are not hard, hard like plastic. I roll them in my driveway and they roll very smoothly even when encountering small stones. If the wheels are kept clean I think they might roll nicely on hardwood, for instance, without scratching. But that also depends on how heavy the load is on the wheels. Certainly they would roll on tile and not harm the tile.

Question:	Is the hardware stainless steel
Answer:	It does not appear to be stainless, all appears to be chrome or zinc plated. Best wheels i have seen. Brakes are perfect, wheel material perfect.
Question:	How steady do these casters lock? I'm thinking of putting them on a computer desk but won't if they don't stay steady
Answer:	I have four sets of them now, on four different carts that are holding my woodworking equipment. As you might guess, I don't want the cart to suddenly shift on me, if I am using a particular saw or other power equipment. Granted, the equipment is probably heavier than your computer, but I have been very satisfied so far. Very stable when locked in place.

Answer:	The running surfaces are suitable for hardwood floors; however if your "craft" is automotive engine repair or marble sculpturing be aware that the relatively hard, non-marking wheels could leave indentations. If you're talking about 100-150 pounds of weight they'd be just fine. Also be aware that you must account for the added four inches of height to your work surface for an existing cart without wheels. For my workbench and kinds of things I do on it, getting the surface up 4" was actually a bonus. If you're shorter you could end up too high.
