User questions & answers
Question: | How many linear feet does one can lay (average bead |
Answer: | The tile size, the square footage of your area, and the coverage with the tiles do not correspond to the #qty of levelers in the package. If you are using 8" square tiles then you will need to calculate how many tile with groutline separations fit into your floor area to be tiled. Take into consideration the size of the spacers as they need to be the same as your planned grout lines. Once you know how many tiles you will use (estimate) then you should plan on 6 levers per 8" square tile (some tiles will use 8 some 4 take the average.) Multiply your number of tiles by 6, and buy even more than you think you will need. |
Question: | Can this be used on a kitchen counter and backsplash as well as by the kitchen sink |
Answer: | I did not use this product with these conditions. The fact that the slab was or could be damp maybe the reason why the tile came loose Moisture trapped will cause lifting |
Question: | Once this product has dried, what can I use to remove it |
Answer: | Sure, you can simply apply the Fix-A-Floor tip directly into grout lines where the grout is missing and the adhesive should travel under the tiles, you may want to use some blue painters tape over the other areas of grout lines if all grout is gone to keep adhesive from spilling up on top of tiles as its quite runny. |
Question: | Hi, can it be used for grout repair as well? Do I need to use sealant after this |
Answer: | Yes! Absolutely, Fix-A-Floor works on every kind of tile, marble, stone and wood floors too. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this silicone actually clear (no color) or white |
Answer: | I will not buy or recommend this product from Amazon as it did not work, even after applying it twice. Both times it came off over a period of a few weeks (wrinkle & mold). I should have returned it but first thought it was me but, then after my husband got it from the hardware store & I helped removing with a knife & water, we replacing it again with a newer product & no more issues. This product was old. |
Question: | Can this also be used around kitchen sink |
Answer: | While in some instances it can be a substitute, it really depends how you are using it. Grout is rigid and semi permanent whereas caulk is flexible and needs to be replaced much more frequently. |
Question: | What is the wait time before shower can be used |
Answer: | I have used this elastomeric sealant indoors, it does have plenty of fumes, much like oil based paints indoors. It dries slow but skins over very fast making it hard to work. I used it at base of my tub in 2005 and still looks great and still seals. |
Question: | is this aquarium safe |
Answer: | Its designed for showers. It needs to cure for about 20 minutes before the surface is no longer tacky. |

Question: | Is this caulk a matte finish, bright white or high gloss? I can't tell from the picture or description |
Answer: | High gloss white. |
Question: | Do you need a calking gun |
Answer: | No. You squeeze it out. It's like a big tube of toothpaste. |
Question: | How well does GE Silicone II Bathroom Tub and Tile Sealant work |
Answer: | GE Silicone II, like any silicone caulk, is not easy to apply. Also, it is not completely mildew free. If you don't clean the caulk every week, it develops mold. I tried DuPont caulk, it's not easy to apply, but it's been in my bathroom for 2 years and no molds so far. |

User questions & answers
Question: | I have a glass tank and it just started to leak water (a leak I think) can I use this product to cover the leak from the bottom outside of the tank |
Answer: | It is not like other silicone used in bathroom/shower installs. One specific difference is that those bathroom/shower silicones contain anti-microbial protection against mold & mildew. This is a food grade safe silicone, so those anti-microbial additives aren’t included in this formula. Also, it takes 72 hours to cure properly. |
Question: | I'm interested in using this to repair a Chemex coffee maker. Crack is near the top. My concerns are about the heat and about food safety. Thoughts |
Answer: | I used it to seal the outside of the heating element on my dishwasher... the flange wouldn’t make a complete seal around the outside, so it leaked water. Still working great after several months. |
Question: | I have a tube of this. Can I use it to install a bathroom sink |
Answer: | Yes, start with the lowest setting and work your way up. |
Question: | What are the temperature specifications ? Can I use this close to a heating element submerged in water once it dried |
Answer: | 110-220, 50 and 60 hz |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can this be used around copper pipe or does it release acetic acid during curing, which would damage the pipe |
Answer: | I would still paint it because dirt will stick too caulk and make it look terrible pretty quickly |
Question: | Is this caulk sanded |
Answer: | Just because a caulk is waterproof, doesn't mean its good for shower areas. If you go the DAP website you can see that they have caulks for bath areas and caulks for exterior siding. Dynaflex is soft and flexible to seal joints in moving substrates such as siding. Siding expands and contracts with temperature and moisture content. Dynaflex is designed to keep up with that movement, but to do that in a latex formula, means that it is inherently soft and prone to damage. Frequent scrubbing such as in a bathroom environment would quickly destroy any adhesion. It might be fine (though not ideal) for caulking the top of a counter backsplash or where the tile meets drywall, but its not suitable for shower use where you would expect a waterproof joint. You won't see any fish tanks assembled with Dynaflex. |
Question: | Does this have a bad smell that lingers |
Answer: | I wouldn't know how to begin to figure that out. Sorry. |
Question: | Can you put the cap on and not have it dry out for a later use or is it a one shot gotta use the whole tube kinda thing |
Answer: | I used it to seal a crack on my metal porch door and the outside base of my shower. I did the door about six months ago and the shower about a year ago. It is holding up very well. I comes out very even and the color is still white. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Once I cut the nozzle, how do I puncture the seal |
Answer: | A knife? A toothpick. A skewer. Yell at it. |
Question: | Has anyone had this on the tub for a while? Does it yellow? I bought some others caulk and it has yellowed after 2 years, the 20yr old is still white |
Answer: | The most common cause of premature yellowing in my experience is choice of cleaners. 1/4 - 1/2 cup of distilled white vinegar added to one gallon of water will remove residual mineral and soap scale without damaging surfaces or sealants. |
Question: | It says white on the tube. Does it dry clear |
Answer: | It dries to an matt white color. they do sell some that dry clear but it says so on the tube. |
Question: | Is this mold/mildew resistant |
Answer: | I've had the silicon on one year and so far there is not any sign of mildew despite the ample wetness in the shower stall |
Question: | Is this 100% silicone |
Answer: | It is a water based latex adhesive caulk. It is not a silicone based product. |
Question: | It's still soft and scrapes away easily after a few days. Any suggestions |
Answer: | No it's pretty hard and it does not scrape away easily. |
Question: | Is the caulk still mold free, like 2 yrs later |
Answer: | Sure enough. After about 2 years, there is no sign whatsoever of mildew/mold. None. For me, that has never happened before with any other brand which usually have mildew after a few months. |
Question: | Is a caulk 'gun' needed |
Answer: | No caulk gun needed. Just snip a little off the tip. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can this be injected to repair loose ceramic tiles |
Answer: | Steve, The tube says 12 hours before exposure to water and 24 hours before touching or cleaning sealant. I just played it safe and waited 24 before using the shower. No problems yet |
Question: | Hey so random question here, but will this bond to spray paint? Like if i rough sand the paint a bit, will it dry fine and stay bonded |
Answer: | I don't know. Since this product is billed as a bathtub sealant, ti might contain anti-fungal or other ingredients that are not fish-friendly. You probably know that; that is probably why you asked. |
Question: | Is this really transparent or translucent |
Answer: | I used this to caulk around tub and wall several months ago and it has held up so far, so I would have no problem with dust. After reading the specs, I would have not used it on floor. I am not a contractor, just a 78 year old fossil. There are a tons of different caulk applications out there. |
Question: | Do i need a caulk gun for this product |
Answer: | It is a reddish brown |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this foam safe |
Answer: | No the smell does not linger. |
Question: | What plastics can i use this on? will it chemically deteriorate the plastic stand on my tv |
Answer: | The cap works well to protect it from drying up. I think we were able to reuse it again after about 6 months. Obviously, it won't last for years, but you can use it for a couple different jobs. |
Question: | How long does it take to dry |
Answer: | The caulk is white when applying... if your caulking is thin ( less than 1/8 inch thick ) , it will turn to transparent ( clear ) after drying. If your caulking is thick...it will have white color even after it had dried. Apply thin coat of caulking will be ideal if you want to be " clear ". |
Question: | Is there enough in the tube to seal three sides of a 5' tub |
Answer: | I used on tub to linoleum floor.I suppose it would work around sink. |
