Question:	It looks like a steal gear turning on a aluminium arm. I there a washer or something to protect the arm from the gear
Answer:	If you mean the tension arm, then yes, but it's not even moving much. If you mean the extruder gear from the motor (not included) then no. But it's point of contact is against the feeded filament. You probably don't need this part, per se, if you have your filament feeding nearly straight, such as from an external filament holder, but I would still recommend it. It's absolutely necessary if using the filament from an angle, such as from the top as the ender 3 originally has it mounted. I chewed through the cheap plastic one they provided within weeks. I've been running with this part for about 2 years without issue.
Question:	gear won't move as it isn't attached to the motor shaft, and there isn't a set screw included to attach the gear to the drive shaft. How to attach
Answer:	Apparently, the ender 3 pro upgraded to an engine model with a press fit type gear (or third party resellers are upgrading bits; mine ender 3 pro came from a reseller and was obviously either used or had parts swapped - I got like $250 worth of free bits preinstalled). You will not be able to remove this without destroying the motor. The solution (I hope, because I have the same problem) is to replace the extrusion motor with the older type, which will apparently cost $10-$25 here on Amazon. You want an ungeared 42-40, and Creality sells a full set of replacement motors here on Amazon for less than $30. I got halfway through replacing this very extruder unit when I discovered the problem

Answer:	It will not be compatible out of the box. You would need to recompile the firmware and change the steps per mm for the extruder. You need to make sure the drive Gea diameter is the same as your monoprice extruder if you don't want to change the firmware.

Answer:	Mine came with the silver threaded bolt that the idler gear with the bearings in it ride against. It will quickly destroy the bearings! Return it!!!

Some customers encountered gear wear problems. The solution is:

✔️Had to change the extruder e-steps from 100 to 139

Because the filament is forced to be centered in both drive gear grooves, the idler drive gear (the one not attached to the motor) is positioned on it's shaft by the motor drive dear. So, to center the idler drive gear properly, my suggestion for setting the unit up is as follows:

1) Assemble everything but do not lock the motor drive gear to the shaft.

2) Using a couple pieces of paper, shim the idler drive gear in the center of its bracket.

3) Clamp a piece of filament in the drive grooves and turn the motor a few turns. This should locate the motor drive gear in the correct position.

4) Lock the motor drive gear to the shaft, remove the paper shims, and you should be good to go.

Answer:	This is a 24v unit. You probably have a 12v controller. If you swap the heater cartridge with a 12v one it will work fine. Double check with a multimeter on the terminals the heater connects to but this was my issue.

Answer:	No, unless you replace the spring that comes with the unit. There is no automatic or mechanical way of adjusting the tension unless the spring is replaced with one of heavier or lighter spring rate. I have no trouble with mine, I typically run PLA

Answer:	I’ve been on the first nozzle of the set for about 3-4 months now. Keep bed level so it doesn’t drag across bed, avoid abrasive filaments and they’ll last for quite some time. Also I use an Oiler on my filament to help prevent clogs. I’m about to change this one out but only to use the smaller nozzle for higher detailed mini prints.

Question:	This seems to be squeezing my 1.75mm pla and causes jams. Installation is straightforward unless im missing something
Answer:	There's is no mechanism to adjust the tension which is set by the provided spring. This spring is very stiff, but this is good because I don't want the hassle of having to figure out what the correct tension is. I have used this drive for PLA and PETG filament, but it is not designed for anything softer like TPE where a direct drive like an MK8 would be needed. If I were to guess, your jams are at the hot end. You can troubleshoot and find out if this is the case by disconnecting the Bowden tube from the hot end and exercising the drive mechanism by sending an M302 PI code to the printer (which disables cold extrusion checking), followed by an M302 S0 code (which allows temporary cold extrusion). Try extruding then. If you can "extrude cold" then you have narrowed your problem to the hot end, which is more problematic to troubleshoot - it could be clogged at different places.
