User questions & answers

Question: Because of the great suction has anyone noticed that their medium to high pile carpets are getting worn or fuzzy
Answer: This vacuum works on all types of flooring: laminate, tile, wood, marble, travertine, etc. I have never had a problem with it scratching.
Question: Can the brush roll be turned off
Answer: I ordered the $24.99 blue version. I honestly can not say why there's a price difference between the 3 models offered as they, to me, appear to be the same in all respects but color when I study their photos (noticing that the listed attributes do not change at all between models). I can say that I am so very pleased with my $24.99 / blue vacuum because it does exactly what I bought it for (tiled floors &low pile throw rugs) and taking advantage of the hand-held changeability is huge (***** great at sussing "stuff" out of cracks between stove & cabinetry, and snatching creepy-crawlies off the ceiling)
Question: How a about pet hair
Answer: It looks like it should stand up to a number of gentle light cleaning/brush-offs and several washes, but it would be convenient to have at least one spare, so I can use that while the other one is drying. Be careful, there are a number of Bissell featherweight vacuums, and they take different filters. Bissell part number 1611508 is hard to find, but with the part number in hand, I found my local vacuum repair shop was able to order it ($4.99, no s&h), and I was able to order it from Bissell.com ($3.75 +$5.95 s&h) and partswarehouse.com ($4.99 & $5.98 S&h)
Question: What is the difference between the "standard brush roll" and the "gentle brush roll" on this model? I have tile, carpet, & wood floors
Answer: No, there is no roller brush. It just has an opening for suction.

User questions & answers

Question: Does it pick up paper clips
Answer: no, YOU pick up the paper clips..vacuums are not made for picking up paper clips..
Question: How do you clean the filter
Answer: There is a HEPA filter in front of the vacuum, you lift the door from the bottom and you can take it out and wash it. and then you lift the canister out from the base ( like you're emptying the canister of dirt.) You will find 2 foam filters there. lift them both out and wash those too. Just dont throw in washing machine or dishwasher. I use dish detergent and wash them off in the sink. Just make sure they are completely dry before putting them back on the vacuum. After a dozen or so washings they will break down ( you will know this ) extra filters can be purchased on EBay or Amazon or other websites. I usually clean the foam filters when they are a very dark brown or gray color, then i also wash the HEPA filter also. Good luck! Here a PDF file that tells you all about the shark vacuum .Page 13 & 14 tell you how to clean the filters . http://prcind.com/user_manuals/NV351-FS.pdf
Question: What is the difference between Shark NV 352 and the NV
Answer: The 352 has a 25 foot cord, the 356 (professional) is 30', the hard floor tools are different. The 356 has a microfiber 'dust pad' that goes over the hardwood floor attachment. The 352's hard floor attachment has a 'V' shape to funnel debris no pad, but it does have a duster attachment both available to purchase separately. The dust cup on the 356 is larger and the overall machine is 2 lbs heavier then the 352. 356 also comes with a bag for the tools where my 352 did not. The other tools all appear to be the same on both models. They both run the same amps and can be converted into canister mode as well, but are aesthetically different.
Question: Why is the little rectangle on the side sucking in so much air and causing it not to work
Answer: I can answer that question specifically because it happened to me and caused me to give this vacuum an erroneously poor review. My shark lasted for just under four years and was amazing. THEN it started sucking air like crazy though that rectangle and suction dropped by 80%. I did everything to fix it ... cleaned all the filters, checked all the hoses ... nothing fixed it. I was about to put it to the curb for the garbage man when something told me to check it out one last time. Well to make a long story short ... if you open your dust canister, there is a conical thing in the middle with mesh screen sides. That mesh was clogged with dust/dirt. On a hunch I cleaned it with a toothbrush (extremely difficult and awkward job) and guess what? The suction is back 100% and my Shark is back like when it brand was new. NOTE WELL. NOWHERE in the manual does it suggest that this area should be cleaned. I hope this answer is not too late for you.

User questions & answers

Question: What tools come with this vacuum
Answer: Hello Muzzy, We would like to inform you that the Shark® Navigator® Upright Vacuum with Lift-Away, Zero-M™ Anti-Hair Wrap Technology includes the Duster Crevice Tool, Hair Removal Multi-Tool, and the Wide Upholstery Tool. We hope this information helps. Helpful Shark
Question: Do you need to push a button to go from carpet to hardwood
Answer: There is a switch, but this is misleading because the only difference btwn the hardwood and carpet setting is how fast the beater bar spins. SHark does not fully, accurately describe this in their product description but the beater bar cannot be turned off or raised to keep it from scratching hardwoods. Very frustrating, actually.
Question: What filters does the zu561 take
Answer: Hello ANDREW S., We would like to inform you that the Shark® Navigator® Upright Vacuum with Lift-Away and Zero-M™ Technology has a set of pre-motor filters and a HEPA filter. The pre-motor filters include a foam filter and a felt filter. The filters for this vacuum are washable by rinsing them under warm tap water until the water runs clear. We suggest to let the air dry for at least 24 hours before putting them back in the vacuum. If you would like to order an additional set, we ask that you reach out to Shark® Customer Care at 877-581-7375. Representatives are available Mon.-Fri. 9am - 9pm ET | Sat. 9am - 6pm ET. We hope this information helps. Helpful Shark
Question: This model gets good reviews for keeping pet hair out of the beater brush. How about long human hair
Answer: Yes, Yes, Yes. Long haired wife, long haired dog, long haired cat. Vacuumed a rug that had more hair than fiber. Brush was clean as a whistle. I was hoping new hair-clipping rotor would work half-way, it worked the whole way. My old Shark roller would have been a solid hairball after the two rugs i vacuumed the other day. The new guy was clean... and so were the rugs.

User questions & answers

Question: Do you still have to hold the trigger down for it to run or is there an on/off switch? Thats been the only thing preventing me from buying a one
Answer: The "only thing" preventing me buying the V11 is the absolutely puzzling decision by Dyson to ship this thing with a single battery and make replacing a battery a 10 minute operation involving hand tools and three screws. What battery powered tool does not have a quick change battery pack in 2019? Answer.....Dyson! So, even if you're willing to buy a second or third battery, it would be unusable That means you're stuck with 10 or 15 minutes of use on anything but hardwood floors or tile. And that makes this thing an overpowered DustBuster for small spills, not a tool to replace a corded vacuum.
Question: is compatible with 220v
Answer: The charger does support 220V with a plug adapter.
Question: Replaceable battery
Answer: My V11 stopped working today, zero power and lights don't turn on when it is plugged in. I was told they will be sending me a replacement batter in 7-10 business days for free as it is under the 1 year warranty. I was told that certain serial numbers had "bad batteries" and mine was on the list. Worked fantastic up until today. So long as the new battery does the trick for my machine, I will continue to be a very happy V11 owner. I will update once I have the new battery.
Question: What is the difference between the v11 torque and the v11 animal
Answer: In the US, the V11 Torque Drive includes the Mini Soft Dusting Tool, NOT the soft roller brush. You can see this, and the difference in the display, at the Dyson site.

User questions & answers

Question: How does the Roller work on carpet and can I lift the roller up
Answer: The roller works great on carpet. No you cannot lift the roller up.
Question: Hi, I just purchased this vacuum, what is the correct filter replacement for this vacuum
Answer: There are about three filtration systems in the Shark. The replacement schedule varies for each filter. Most of the filters can be rinsed, dried and replaced. The premotor filter should be replaced every year. The post motor filter should be replaced every 3 years. Replace the HEPA filter yearly. This is probably the most important one. You don't want to discharge dust back into the air. In this case I believe in using only Shark filters. There are a lot of pretenders out there. The web site is sharkclean.com. I recommend it. You Old Geezer
Question: Current Shark clogs all the time with pet hair--needs frequent cleaning. How does this model compare
Answer: Not nearly as much as my older Shark. However, pet hair does tend to collect in the pinion mounts of the front roller and it will stop that roller until the hair is cleared - will happen about every 3 months if used 3-4 times weekly. We have a Goldie and a tabby cat. The Golden's fur is not a problem. It is the fine hair from the cat that gets into the very small pinion points.
Question: How do the fins compare to regular brush roller? If they’re just plastic, Could they break off
Answer: The plastic on the roller is rather supple. It's not a hard plastic that might easily break off. And by the way, I love this vacuum. It has amazing suction, and the roller seems to polish hard floors.

User questions & answers

Question: Does the vacuum come with any attachments? It doesn't look like if from the picture here
Answer: Currently I have not used any accessories. I just use it as a floor vacuum, so I had to go looking for the accessories that came with it. I may not have found every single one that came with it, but I think I did, so the short answer: it comes with at least 5 attachments and a floor caddy. They are as follows: Dusting Brush (1185FC500), 12 inch Crevice Tool (X11FC500), Large Power Brush (X13FC500), Multi-Angle Dusting Brush (X15FC500), Straight Suction Floor Nozzle (XSN500), and finally the Canister Caddy (X16FC500). For more information (like what these parts actually look like as if you are like me you have no idea what the name of each part technically is) on these parts go to http://www.sharkclean.com/rotator/professional-lift-away-nv500/parts-and-accessories/.
Question: is it light weight
Answer: That's difficult to answer as it's all relative. It seems light to me, but it might not to you. It weighs in at about 1 lb more than the comparable Dyson, so some might say its heavy. I don't pick mine up a whole lot, so 1 lb isn't a deal breaker for me. It weighs about 15 lbs. Your call on if that's light or heavy.
Question: What about the filters? The infomercial never mentions them as far as need for cleaning, replacement, or ease of removing and cleaning
Answer: We don't have this model, but do have a similar (cheaper) Navigator Lift-away model that recommends cleaning the filter every 3 months. We use it to vacuum a small professional office and an 1800-square foot home once a week. I clean the filter in warm water every 1-2 weeks as the foam one, especially, gets very dirty/dusty. It doesn't take long, but they do have to dry before next use so I usually do it the night before I vacuum, absorb excess water on a towel-rag, then leave to dry overnight. I'd rather wash it than tap it out as another user suggested because the I don't want the dust to fly everywhere after I went to the trouble of vacuuming. The HEPA filter to be cleaned every 12 months takes a lot longer to dry (few days) but that's ok since we clean it so rarely.
Question: What is the difference between the navigator and the rotator
Answer: I own the Rotator but have no experience with the Navigator. Googling comparisons though the main difference seems to be that the Rotator can be turned into a canister vacuum where the Navigator can only be an upright vacuum. For a more extensive comparison here are a couple links to webpages I found useful in answering your question:http://socialcompare.com/en/comparison/shark-nav-vs-rotator-models-1fw7ntxohttp://www.sharkvacuums.net/compare-shark-nv350-vs-rotator-nv500/

  • Premium pet tools, including pet hair power brush
  • 25’ Power Cord. Cleaning path width- 9.25 inch

User questions & answers

Question: how long is the cord and how wide is the cleaning path
Answer: Brushroll Shutoff. Deep carpet and gentle bare floor cleaning; The power cord is 30 feet long This is the copy pasted LAST BULLET just to right of photo of this item on the items page. Really it is easy to see and read for yourself. So that is the extended cord size old cords were usually 25 feet. I haev the original and always wished for the 30 foot one. My original just died after 14 years of heavy abused use. I had only two major complaints with original. It would not vacum plush or shag carpets. I mean the thick lush bathroom throw rugs that are very dense and thick not realy shag. And it left light scratches in the surface of my ultra acrylic shine right after it was applied yet set for a week. The brush just dug into it enough to satinize but worse leave a kind of streaking which was annoying as I re-acrylic 2-3 times a year and it's a lot of hard work. The hardwood flloors showed it this the most the kitchen vinyl did not or wasn't as obvious. After a month I do not see as much much scratches or new happening. The good news is I could live wiith the annoyances because out of all the vacuums over my life time doing all the housework from age 11 right on through my full adult hood to age 69 today I've had a lot of vacuums to try. This out perormed them all including Dyson's bull..line. My Dyson sits in basement waiting for me to remember to give to goodwill. They may not want it it picks up barely despite all the cleaning etc. of all it's filters. The Sharps are washed and re-used and I keep 4 spares of the foam. I have maintained the charcoal orginal foam one and just wash it twice or so a year but also replace the white filter piece over it with same thickness and multi layered cut out from swiffer dusting sheets. When the white starts to turn gray it's time to change it. Other than that and change for clean bottom foam and fielt filters it's good to go. I bought a replacement upper filter so called hepa accordian style it would not stay in place it popped out over and over. I lucky had not thrown out the charcoal orginal and could not separate the accordian from the new face plate so I went back to the charcoal and washed it till clean and examined the white fabric over the front of the foam and realized it's basically quite like swifer sheets a few layers thicker and used it as a template to make a set of 6 new ones. Now I keep about that many ahead making them once a year to have on hand as need arises. This is a kind of exhaust filter and when it gets black your sucking power goes way down so you need to change it when you see it turnng dark or deep gray. No belts that break and the suction is fantastic period. We have long haired cats that shed year round and it cleans it off carpets and flooring of course without a problem. I can not locate the motor floor part that i need to replace the one that broke so decided to upgrade to a new vacuum and still repair the old one for use in basement and or attic in the future when I can find either the switch/motor that is the right one to fit it or the whole unit which was available for 57 dollars only two months ago. Everyone seems to be out? This is what I am looking at when I read your question along with at least three others asking the same question. Yours being tne newest I spotted is fair chance this info was listed the day you looked at it. The othres being older posts maybe not. But today there should be no excuse not to see it and read it for yourself. Brushroll Shutoff. Deep carpet and gentle bare floor cleaning; The power cord is 30 feet long just look for the last bullet under the champagne colored selected model.
Question: Does this vacuum have the extended reach hose? I saw this same item at the store that has the extended hose. The detail doesn't say
Answer: Mine came with one stretchable hose that reaches approximately 6 feet with the hard hose attachment
Question: How noisy is this vacuum? I have small children and would love the option of cleaning during nap time
Answer: It's the noisiest vac I've owned. In comparison to another Shark we own (a Navigator Lift-Away 356E model) it is much louder. If run side by side this one is the only one audible so you can't even tell the other one is on. It is not a quiet vacuum by any means.
Question: Does the shark navigator dlx (nv70) have the longer hose like in the picture? how long is it
Answer: I believe the picture shows an optional extension. The hose is a nice length but I don't think it's that long.

User questions & answers

Question: what is the height of the vacuum head
Answer: What's the difference = not much. At Amazon, both items contain 8 bags. They both fit the same models. The 8120AM purports to be an ULTRA filter. The 8120ER just has 8 bags. So, ? maybe the ULTRA filter spews out less dust.
Question: what are the accessories included
Answer: The model number should be listed on the underside of the vacuum. Mine lists the airbelt D4. I order SEBO filterbox AIRBELT D
Question: What attachments are included? There seems to be some discrepancies
Answer: I can see no sign of fiberglass inside or outside the bags.
Question: What is the box dimensions? Thanks
Answer: My exhaust filter was missing, the box looks genuine, the bags that came with the vacuum had 'SEBO' all over them. These bags have no indication that they are made by Sebo, the bag design looks completely different than the original bags but they do say made in Germany. If I had to do it over again I would have paid the extra and purchased them from a reputable vacuum store.

User questions & answers

Question: What is the pet multi-tool and the deep-cleaning motorized pet tool
Answer: Hello Kathleen, We're happy to help with your inquiry. The Pet Multi-Tool is two cleaning tools in one. The stiff bristle brush removes stuck-on debris from a multitude of surfaces. You can detach the bristles to reveal an upholstery tool for cleaning stubborn pet hair. The Deep-Cleaning Motorized Pet Tool is powered by a motor. The motorized brush removes pet hair and embedded dirt from stairs, upholstery, tabletops, bookshelves, car interiors, and more. We hope this information helps. Helpful Shark
Question: How does this (az1002) differ from model az1000w? thanks
Answer: Hello JJ, We are happy to assist you with your inquiry. The Shark® APEX® Upright Vacuum AZ1002 and the AZ1000W are the same vacuum. The difference is the attachments and where they are available for purchase. The AZ1000W includes the 12" Crevice Tool and Pet Multi-Tool. The AZ1002 includes the 12" Crevice Tool, Pet Multi-Tool, and Deep-Cleaning Motorized Pet Tool. We hope this information helps. Helpful Shark
Question: what accessories are included
Answer: a review posted on July 20, 2019 states "the Motorized Pet Cleaning accessory was not included as advertised, although it was listed in the documentation that came with the vacuum. I called Shark Customer Support and was told it is no longer shipped with the vacuum, but can bought for an additional charge. In its place a hard floor accessory was provided that DOES NOT EVEN attach to vacuum." So the response by the manufacturer should be updated to reflect the Deep-Cleaning Motorized Pet Tool no longer comes with the Shark vacuum.
Question: How effective is this at picking up long human hair? Thanks
Answer: Quite effective. Golden retriever and a girlfriend who both leave hair EVERYWHERE. We have hardwood and area rugs, and a carpeted bonus/makeup room. Our other shark w/o zero-m technology would have hair wrapped in about 2 seconds of using it. Just got a zero-m shark (duoclean uv700) and I vacuumed the entire place after a week of no vacuuming and 0 hair was wrapped around either rollers. I would recommend letting the rollers spin for a few seconds after finishing vacuuming to help release any hair that may have gotten wrapped (this is what I did). 12/10 recommend the duoclean/zero-m shark vacuums. I suspect that everyone who claims they have hair wrap do not let the rollers spin for a few seconds after they’re done. Hope this helps as I was wary of reviews claiming it didn’t work as advertised.
