User questions & answers
Question: | Because of the great suction has anyone noticed that their medium to high pile carpets are getting worn or fuzzy |
Answer: | This vacuum works on all types of flooring: laminate, tile, wood, marble, travertine, etc. I have never had a problem with it scratching. |
Question: | Can the brush roll be turned off |
Answer: | I ordered the $24.99 blue version. I honestly can not say why there's a price difference between the 3 models offered as they, to me, appear to be the same in all respects but color when I study their photos (noticing that the listed attributes do not change at all between models). I can say that I am so very pleased with my $24.99 / blue vacuum because it does exactly what I bought it for (tiled floors &low pile throw rugs) and taking advantage of the hand-held changeability is huge (***** great at sussing "stuff" out of cracks between stove & cabinetry, and snatching creepy-crawlies off the ceiling) |
Question: | How a about pet hair |
Answer: | It looks like it should stand up to a number of gentle light cleaning/brush-offs and several washes, but it would be convenient to have at least one spare, so I can use that while the other one is drying. Be careful, there are a number of Bissell featherweight vacuums, and they take different filters. Bissell part number 1611508 is hard to find, but with the part number in hand, I found my local vacuum repair shop was able to order it ($4.99, no s&h), and I was able to order it from Bissell.com ($3.75 +$5.95 s&h) and partswarehouse.com ($4.99 & $5.98 S&h) |
Question: | What is the difference between the "standard brush roll" and the "gentle brush roll" on this model? I have tile, carpet, & wood floors |
Answer: | No, there is no roller brush. It just has an opening for suction. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Will the 360 work on thick pile carpeting |
Answer: | I had a problem with my plush carpeting. The suction was so much it was hard to push. WOW, there is an adjustable collar to reduce the suction. Works great. |
Question: | is the shark navigator lift-away delux self propelled |
Answer: | ANY vacuum with a beater brush can be adjusted to be easier to use on the carpet. Start with the cleaner on the carpet you want to clean, with the head raised as high as it will go. Turn it on and start to lower the brush head slowly, one click at a time. You will hear the tone change when the brush makes contact with the carpet. Drop it one or two more clicks until you hear the tone of the brush head get noticeably lower as it pushes hard against the carpet. Then take it back up one click. That will be an optimal height for cleaning and the brush head will actually help propel the unit as you clean; more of an assist vs. self propelled. |
Question: | We have only had our vacuum for a few weeks, and it smells like dog when we turn it on. What can we do |
Answer: | No No No Lol, do not use soap it will ruin the filter faster, it gets stuck in the micro fibers, I repair vacuums and Steamers and hear and see this all the time, wash filters w water only let dry 24 to 48 hrs, drying in sun is fine, completely dry before putting back in you can use a scent tabs on the side top of the filter, also you can spray Lysol or disinfectant on the carpet {test small area to make sure no stain} and run the vacuum over it, and of course new filters, recommended every 2 years, if you have pets or kids or both every year, if cleaning service more often |
Question: | What is the difference between the Shark NV356E and the Shark |
Answer: | Hi Madeline. I did a brief review of the nv356e at the Amazon site, compared to the 360 (which I own). The 356e claims to have a 9.5" vacuum path, while the 360 is 11". The 360 is 15 or so lbs, the 356e is 14 lbs. It appears the technology and mechanical functioning of the models are nearly identical. Attachments are also similar. I own two of the 360s, which I bought from Target. I'm very happy with them. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does it pick up paper clips |
Answer: | no, YOU pick up the paper clips..vacuums are not made for picking up paper clips.. |
Question: | How do you clean the filter |
Answer: | There is a HEPA filter in front of the vacuum, you lift the door from the bottom and you can take it out and wash it. and then you lift the canister out from the base ( like you're emptying the canister of dirt.) You will find 2 foam filters there. lift them both out and wash those too. Just dont throw in washing machine or dishwasher. I use dish detergent and wash them off in the sink. Just make sure they are completely dry before putting them back on the vacuum. After a dozen or so washings they will break down ( you will know this ) extra filters can be purchased on EBay or Amazon or other websites. I usually clean the foam filters when they are a very dark brown or gray color, then i also wash the HEPA filter also. Good luck! Here a PDF file that tells you all about the shark vacuum .Page 13 & 14 tell you how to clean the filters . http://prcind.com/user_manuals/NV351-FS.pdf |
Question: | What is the difference between Shark NV 352 and the NV |
Answer: | The 352 has a 25 foot cord, the 356 (professional) is 30', the hard floor tools are different. The 356 has a microfiber 'dust pad' that goes over the hardwood floor attachment. The 352's hard floor attachment has a 'V' shape to funnel debris no pad, but it does have a duster attachment both available to purchase separately. The dust cup on the 356 is larger and the overall machine is 2 lbs heavier then the 352. 356 also comes with a bag for the tools where my 352 did not. The other tools all appear to be the same on both models. They both run the same amps and can be converted into canister mode as well, but are aesthetically different. |
Question: | Why is the little rectangle on the side sucking in so much air and causing it not to work |
Answer: | I can answer that question specifically because it happened to me and caused me to give this vacuum an erroneously poor review. My shark lasted for just under four years and was amazing. THEN it started sucking air like crazy though that rectangle and suction dropped by 80%. I did everything to fix it ... cleaned all the filters, checked all the hoses ... nothing fixed it. I was about to put it to the curb for the garbage man when something told me to check it out one last time. Well to make a long story short ... if you open your dust canister, there is a conical thing in the middle with mesh screen sides. That mesh was clogged with dust/dirt. On a hunch I cleaned it with a toothbrush (extremely difficult and awkward job) and guess what? The suction is back 100% and my Shark is back like when it brand was new. NOTE WELL. NOWHERE in the manual does it suggest that this area should be cleaned. I hope this answer is not too late for you. |

User questions & answers
Question: | what is the height of the vacuum head |
Answer: | What's the difference = not much. At Amazon, both items contain 8 bags. They both fit the same models. The 8120AM purports to be an ULTRA filter. The 8120ER just has 8 bags. So, ? maybe the ULTRA filter spews out less dust. |
Question: | what are the accessories included |
Answer: | The model number should be listed on the underside of the vacuum. Mine lists the airbelt D4. I order SEBO filterbox AIRBELT D |
Question: | What attachments are included? There seems to be some discrepancies |
Answer: | I can see no sign of fiberglass inside or outside the bags. |
Question: | What is the box dimensions? Thanks |
Answer: | My exhaust filter was missing, the box looks genuine, the bags that came with the vacuum had 'SEBO' all over them. These bags have no indication that they are made by Sebo, the bag design looks completely different than the original bags but they do say made in Germany. If I had to do it over again I would have paid the extra and purchased them from a reputable vacuum store. |

User questions & answers
Question: | how long is the cord and how wide is the cleaning path |
Answer: | Brushroll Shutoff. Deep carpet and gentle bare floor cleaning; The power cord is 30 feet long This is the copy pasted LAST BULLET just to right of photo of this item on the items page. Really it is easy to see and read for yourself. So that is the extended cord size old cords were usually 25 feet. I haev the original and always wished for the 30 foot one. My original just died after 14 years of heavy abused use. I had only two major complaints with original. It would not vacum plush or shag carpets. I mean the thick lush bathroom throw rugs that are very dense and thick not realy shag. And it left light scratches in the surface of my ultra acrylic shine right after it was applied yet set for a week. The brush just dug into it enough to satinize but worse leave a kind of streaking which was annoying as I re-acrylic 2-3 times a year and it's a lot of hard work. The hardwood flloors showed it this the most the kitchen vinyl did not or wasn't as obvious. After a month I do not see as much much scratches or new happening. The good news is I could live wiith the annoyances because out of all the vacuums over my life time doing all the housework from age 11 right on through my full adult hood to age 69 today I've had a lot of vacuums to try. This out perormed them all including Dyson's bull..line. My Dyson sits in basement waiting for me to remember to give to goodwill. They may not want it it picks up barely despite all the cleaning etc. of all it's filters. The Sharps are washed and re-used and I keep 4 spares of the foam. I have maintained the charcoal orginal foam one and just wash it twice or so a year but also replace the white filter piece over it with same thickness and multi layered cut out from swiffer dusting sheets. When the white starts to turn gray it's time to change it. Other than that and change for clean bottom foam and fielt filters it's good to go. I bought a replacement upper filter so called hepa accordian style it would not stay in place it popped out over and over. I lucky had not thrown out the charcoal orginal and could not separate the accordian from the new face plate so I went back to the charcoal and washed it till clean and examined the white fabric over the front of the foam and realized it's basically quite like swifer sheets a few layers thicker and used it as a template to make a set of 6 new ones. Now I keep about that many ahead making them once a year to have on hand as need arises. This is a kind of exhaust filter and when it gets black your sucking power goes way down so you need to change it when you see it turnng dark or deep gray. No belts that break and the suction is fantastic period. We have long haired cats that shed year round and it cleans it off carpets and flooring of course without a problem. I can not locate the motor floor part that i need to replace the one that broke so decided to upgrade to a new vacuum and still repair the old one for use in basement and or attic in the future when I can find either the switch/motor that is the right one to fit it or the whole unit which was available for 57 dollars only two months ago. Everyone seems to be out? This is what I am looking at when I read your question along with at least three others asking the same question. Yours being tne newest I spotted is fair chance this info was listed the day you looked at it. The othres being older posts maybe not. But today there should be no excuse not to see it and read it for yourself. Brushroll Shutoff. Deep carpet and gentle bare floor cleaning; The power cord is 30 feet long just look for the last bullet under the champagne colored selected model. |
Question: | Does this vacuum have the extended reach hose? I saw this same item at the store that has the extended hose. The detail doesn't say |
Answer: | Mine came with one stretchable hose that reaches approximately 6 feet with the hard hose attachment |
Question: | How noisy is this vacuum? I have small children and would love the option of cleaning during nap time |
Answer: | It's the noisiest vac I've owned. In comparison to another Shark we own (a Navigator Lift-Away 356E model) it is much louder. If run side by side this one is the only one audible so you can't even tell the other one is on. It is not a quiet vacuum by any means. |
Question: | Does the shark navigator dlx (nv70) have the longer hose like in the picture? how long is it |
Answer: | I believe the picture shows an optional extension. The hose is a nice length but I don't think it's that long. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does the vacuum come with any attachments? It doesn't look like if from the picture here |
Answer: | Currently I have not used any accessories. I just use it as a floor vacuum, so I had to go looking for the accessories that came with it. I may not have found every single one that came with it, but I think I did, so the short answer: it comes with at least 5 attachments and a floor caddy. They are as follows: Dusting Brush (1185FC500), 12 inch Crevice Tool (X11FC500), Large Power Brush (X13FC500), Multi-Angle Dusting Brush (X15FC500), Straight Suction Floor Nozzle (XSN500), and finally the Canister Caddy (X16FC500). For more information (like what these parts actually look like as if you are like me you have no idea what the name of each part technically is) on these parts go to http://www.sharkclean.com/rotator/professional-lift-away-nv500/parts-and-accessories/. |
Question: | is it light weight |
Answer: | That's difficult to answer as it's all relative. It seems light to me, but it might not to you. It weighs in at about 1 lb more than the comparable Dyson, so some might say its heavy. I don't pick mine up a whole lot, so 1 lb isn't a deal breaker for me. It weighs about 15 lbs. Your call on if that's light or heavy. |
Question: | What about the filters? The infomercial never mentions them as far as need for cleaning, replacement, or ease of removing and cleaning |
Answer: | We don't have this model, but do have a similar (cheaper) Navigator Lift-away model that recommends cleaning the filter every 3 months. We use it to vacuum a small professional office and an 1800-square foot home once a week. I clean the filter in warm water every 1-2 weeks as the foam one, especially, gets very dirty/dusty. It doesn't take long, but they do have to dry before next use so I usually do it the night before I vacuum, absorb excess water on a towel-rag, then leave to dry overnight. I'd rather wash it than tap it out as another user suggested because the I don't want the dust to fly everywhere after I went to the trouble of vacuuming. The HEPA filter to be cleaned every 12 months takes a lot longer to dry (few days) but that's ok since we clean it so rarely. |
Question: | What is the difference between the navigator and the rotator |
Answer: | I own the Rotator but have no experience with the Navigator. Googling comparisons though the main difference seems to be that the Rotator can be turned into a canister vacuum where the Navigator can only be an upright vacuum. For a more extensive comparison here are a couple links to webpages I found useful in answering your question:http://socialcompare.com/en/comparison/shark-nav-vs-rotator-models-1fw7ntxohttp://www.sharkvacuums.net/compare-shark-nv350-vs-rotator-nv500/ |

Question: | Is this compatible with the silver and white Navigator model |
Answer: | Thank you for your question. We recommend that you contact the EPA for your state in regards to cleaning up diamotaceous earth powder as it is classified as potentially hazardous. They can confirm the appropriate type of filtration and safety measures required. Our backpack vacuums pull material into three levels of filtration prior to coming in contact with the motor. The SuperCoach HEPA model comes equipped with a pleated HEPA filter as the third level of filtration. Please contact our Customer Service department by e-mail at [email protected] or by phone at 1-866-888-2168 if you have additional questions. |
Question: | will this fit NV |
Answer: | Thank you for your interest in ProTeam products. The 1.5" turbo brush, part # 836357, is designed to be used with the standard 1.5" wand coupling that comes with most of our 1.5" tool kits. We have another 1.5" turbo brush (part # 103608) that has a different neck and requires a special wand (part # 102266). Both can be used with the Super Coach vacuum. Please contact our Customer Service department with any additional questions, we are happy to assist. Phone: 1-866-888-2168 E-mail: [email protected] |
Question: | fit nv |
Answer: | No, it is not a wet vac. ProTeam does have wet vac product line called ProGuard. |
Question: | What color is this canister? Is it exactly like the picture with white and purple |
Answer: | Yes, you can watch TV and hear it if you have the volume up somewhat - I vacuum while listening via ear buds to audio books ... better than listening to my wife yell: "You missed a spot"! |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does work on batteries only |
Answer: | Yes, and the charge lasts about 20 to 30 minutes. It's a great little vac. It is so easy to use you don't mind getting it out to vacuum more often. |
Question: | difference between white and fuchsia |
Answer: | My white one is Shark Navigator Freestyle so this is a different model |
Question: | What is a power of this model? (sv |
Answer: | 14.4 V battery, Model SV1112 40 Hopefully this is what your looking for? |
Question: | Does the new fushia model come with a charging base/station? I'm looking for one with grab-and-go capability |
Answer: | There seems to be confusion between the white and fuchsia models. That is because Amazon is lumping them together in their ratings. The two are entirely different! The white one is the low end Shark NAVIGATOR Freestyle SV1106N. The fuchsia one is the high end Shark ROTATOR Freestyle PRO SV1112. There is a big difference is features, function and price. But the "new fuchsia model" does not come in any other color and the fuchsia one is only the SV1112--the highest end Shark Freestyle (cordless). And, yes, the charging base comes with it and works great. |
