Answer:	I dont think I could call it "waterproof", but mine have been outside for 2 years. They are under an eave holding plants, so they are exposed to rain if it is a "blowing" rain like we get in ETX. I also water my plants every other day in the months of summer. There is some black staining from dirt, but they are still sturdy. I expect they will last outside for another year or two. The next time I order them I will spray all the pieces with marine varnish before I put them together.

Answer:	It's made of iron/steel and is fairly heavy. I wouldn't stand on it but I'd say it's sturdy enough for a flat screen tv. I have decorative vases and bowls on mine and am using the bottom baskets for movies and books in my bedroom. I love it, very nice looking.
