Answer:	I don't believe I purchased this exact item -- but I purchased one very similar (probably why I was asked to try to answer your question). The item description advises the dimensions to be: 3 x 1 x 11 inches..and so (I believe) 1 inch is probably the width of the "handle" part. Mine is a approximately 12/16th of an inch... so this one is probably a bit thicker than mine.

Answer:	I have owned my ice pick for probably 2+ yrs. Never has the pick separated from its wooden handle. But, you can try to use super glue to secure it and then see if it happens again. However, if you are still able to use it, then go for it "as is".
