Ready to make your own, natural and fresh tortillas?

Start by making your masa dough according to the instructions on the package. For this example, we'll use Maseca: just mix 2 cups of Maseca, 1.25 cups of water, and a pinch of salt. Mix the dough until it has the consistency of Play Dough. Once ready, separate the dough into 16 small balls about 1.25 inch wide.

Setting up the plates

Pro tip! Cut a zip-top disposable plastic bag along the corners to make two square plastic sheets (usually the sandwich size is perfect). Place one of the plastic sheets on the bottom plate. Place a ball of dough slightly off-center, towards the closing hinge. Place the second plastic square on top. *(If you do not have zip-top bags, cling wrap or parchment paper can work too).

Press!

Close the top plate. The weight of the plate will help you press down, and the lever will help you finish the press firmly. Not too much force is necessary.

Peel and separate

Open the press, place the plastic covered tortilla on one hand, & peel off the top plastic with the other hand. Flip the tortilla over onto your other hand and now peel back the second plastic square. You can start putting your pressed tortillas directly on a hot griddle, or on a plate separated with sheets of parchment paper if you prefer to cook or freeze them later.

Answer:	It sits in the main grilling grate position in place of the main grilling grate. You wouldn't use both in the same place. However, this grate will sit about an inch lower because it has no feet on it like the main grate does.

Answer:	I just put on a light coating of veg oil after taking the the grill up to about 500 degrees. Dropped temp to 400 and threw on a few ribeyes that came out perfect. I have the XL - I would get a two grate package instead of just the single side. One more comment - these grates won't rust like some other products.

Answer:	RITZ Paprika Red is closer to an 'actual red' than a burgundy. At RITZ, we try to list photos on Amazon that represent the product as closely as possible. With that being said, its not always perfect. Try the Paprika red! Its been our classic red for years!

Answer:	I would never buy these towels again. They are rough on the hands and fray easily. I haven't paid enough attention to rather they absorb water well.
Question:	How should the handle be attached so it doesn't wobble in too large a space? There must be spacers or something missing
Answer:	I think so as they are 100% cotton. I actually purchased the dishcloths not the towels ( because I have so many) but if I had been looking for a matching set, I wouldn't hesitate because I really like the colors and they wash well... shrink a little, but that's to be expected. I think you will be happy with them and I would recommend them in all the colors.

How to use?

1.Prepare the dough and 2 Baking Papers

2.Place the Baking Papers with the ball of dough in between

3.Close the press shut using the handle

4.Remove Baking Papers

5.Bake your tortilla in the pan

6.Enjoy homemade tortillas!
