Answer:	I am looking for a new machine, ours just burned out on us Friday night - after it did its chore for us and the grand kids (7 and 9). We have always used about 1/4 cup of oil (redenbacker popcorn oil if we can find it - or - Veggie oil mixed with some butter). About 1/2 cup of Redenbacker or another cauliflower (premium carnival and movie theater popping corn) popcorn. We DO NOT use the butter cap on the top of the vent. Let it vent out the moisture and stuff. Don't clog up those vent holes with butter. We use the microwave to melt and pour on additional butter. I have never - since I first started using this popper in the 80's -- never had soggy or moist popcorn. I was in the service - my job entailed working in a room with no windows and 13 or 15 of us at a time. We popped using this tool for 1/2 of my 20 years. Thru 2 wars/actions - and a couple times per 12 hour shift. Fast and easy and easy clean up. Since the 80's ... this is my second machine - getting ready for my third. DON'T use the cap on it and don't use the butter melting suggestions - the popcorn will be done before the butter is melted.

Question:	How many watts has to be your microwave
Answer:	I wish I read this review before I purchased this popper! I put just one lid full of brand new popcorn (It was Black Jewel and doesn't expire till 2022) in and about two TSP of butter in the silicone lid. It started popping immediately but luckily I was standing by the microwave watching it when the microwave sparked. I stopped it, pulled out the popper and inspected it. I noticed that the square cardboard (waveguide cover) had a small burnt spot on it. Thinking that the microwave was suddenly going bad, I put a cup of water in the microwave to see if the problem would duplicate, but it was fine! So I restarted it again with the popper and within about 10 seconds it was sparking like mad and I thought I saw a flame. I immediately stopped it again and now the waveguide cover has a huge burnt spot on it. I have no idea why this is happening but the popper will have to be returned.

Question:	Does anyone know how to remove the popcorn odor after use? I hand wash the bowl really well with dish soap but doesn't remove the odor. Ugh
Answer:	My mw is 1100 watts, pops great in about 2 1/2 mins!

Answer:	It pops around 1/3 of a cup, which is around 5.3 Tablespoons. For comparison, a large/standard bag of microwave popcorn is around 4 Tablespoons. The Hotpop leaves far fewer unpopped kernels than the bagged stuff, though, so the volume of cooked popcorn is probably quite a bit greater than the raw difference would indicate. Two batches in the Hotpop should be roughly equal to three large microwaveable bags.
Question:	I tried to repopulate kernels that didn’t pop in batch and burned the bottom of the container. Will this affect performance
Answer:	The lid is also silicon - love it - works great every time!

Answer:	I've found that using oil makes a big difference. More kernels pop thoroughly. I fill the container to the second line and add 1.5 tablespoons of Canola oil. I make sure to stir the oil around so every kernel gets wet. Then I place the Hot Pop in the microwave for 2min35sec. Once done, I slowly transfer the popcorn to a larger salad bowl a portion at a time. While doing the transfer, I add a pinch of course sea salt to each transfer until the transfer is complete. I've had my Hot Pop for 6 months and eat popcorn everyday! No damages to the container yet. This is the best tasting popcorn I've ever eaten! I've completely stopped buying bags of corn chips (usually $4-$5/ bag). I just buy bags of whole kernel popcorn. Orville Redenbacher seems to pop the best for me, but they all work great. Question:	Is this safe for ceramic or glass stove top
Answer:	The manufacturer recommends that you pop WITHOUT oil, because the oil can cause scorching. I pop without oil, using AmishCountryPopcorn baby white kernels, and I often have fewer than 5 unpopped kernels. AFTER POPPING, I transfer the popcorn into a different bowl and add butter-flavored oil and popcorn salt.
Question:	Is this the model that works with induction cooktops
Answer:	(Directions say you can pop the unpopped kernels. I tried it and not one of them popped.) I have also burned a batch in the past. I would say that while the performance will not be affected, the burned container will affect the taste. I threw out the burned one and ordered another.
Question:	Is this solid stainless steel or aluminum encapsulated by stainless steel
Answer:	I cannot find any manufacturing location on the product or the instructions. However, I researched the mpn code SYNCHKG117351 on buycott.com (a site that assists in purchasing wisely), and the country is listed as "US & Canada"

Answer:	The Whirley Pop is made in the U.S.A. however some of the parts are made in China.

Answer:	The one Inought is stainless steel. Using it on a ceramic stove top would be no different than using any other stainless cook wear. We love ours and it makes great popcorn.

Answer:	Their own website says this model has an aluminum core - not stainless steel core. Question:	How much oil does the measuring spoon hold
Answer:	With the cover on, it is 14" high. The diameter is 6.5". It you take the cover off and store it in a cabinet, the height is 9.5".
Question:	is it striaght current or transformer
Answer:	I'm not sure about the plastic chute, but the inside of the container is metal. This is where the heating occurs and popcorn is placed. I'm assuming that the only area that is plastic and may contain BPA is the plastic top, but the popcorn only touches it for a brief second as it descends the chute into your bowl. I'm sure there is very little exposure to BPA if the plastic even contains it. Question:	Does this make the room it's in smell like popcorn/oil
Answer:	Currently, there are six for sale on Ebay which were made in the USA, including the same model I use (still) to make great popcorn, which I bought in 1996; made in Eau Claire, WI by Presto Industries. Ah...the good ol' days, when we kept manufacturing here, before NAFTA and "China, Most Favored Nation Status" took hold. Ugh.
Question:	what comes with it
Answer:	We have been using this popcorn popper for years to roast our coffee. For us, the popper lasts 9-12 months. Because it runs so much hotter (and longer) than with popcorn, the fan and mechanical pieces wear out faster. You can tell when the popper is near the end of its life when you have a hard time keeping all the beans a consistent roast. After years of using this model (and 3-4 poppers) we've become experts. Everything else people say about roasting beans is true as well. Do it outside, don't leave it alone and cool the beans quickly. Obviously we love this popper for our bean roasting since we keep buying new ones when it wears out. We figure at the rate we replace them, it will take another 3-4 years to approach the cost of a single purpose "coffee roaster". So it is a great cost alternative and at this price, a no-brainer.

Question:	Can you make candied nuts in this machine
Answer:	The gears are metal. Do not let that fool you into thinking that this is a quality product. The fit on the parts is horrible. It took 15 - 20 minutes of bending pieces to make it work acceptably -- the gears did not mesh properly and would slip if there was any resistance. And the stirrer did not reach the bottom of the pan, so it skipped over the popcorn. Buy an original Whirley Pop. Last time I checked, it was the same price. We had one for 15+ years. The only reason we replaced it with this product was because the lid's hinge broke. The nylon gears still showed NO wear after all that usage. I ended up buying some small galvanized hinges to repair the Whirley Pop and tossed the Cook N Home in storage.
Question:	Is the pan removable for cleaning
Answer:	I would assume somewhere over seas but it doesn't matter imo. It's good quality and makes very tasty popcorn. I use butter oil to cook the kernels in and as a topping.

Answer:	I use Orville Redenbacher popcorn in the plastic container from Amazon as it makes large white fluffy popcorn. The popper holds between 1/4 - 1/2 cup of unpopped popcorn. It makes a big bowl. Only takes a few minutes so if you need a lot just keep popping! I use this everyday. I spray the popcorn while it’s hot and sprinkle on powdered seasoning also sold by Amazon. Hope this helps.

Question:	Where can i get top vent cover
Answer:	Sorry to say this item is not 100% stainless steel. If it were it would work on my induction cooktop and it does not. Aluminum will not work on induction stoves but stainless does. I'm really bummed, was looking forward to it but mine has to go back, it's worthless with my induction stove that only works with stainless steel and iron pots. The pot may have a stainless steel core wrapped with aluminum - why it won't work on induction stoves that only work with stainless steel and iron pots.
Question:	How much oil? The instructions say to add 2 tbsp of oil and then 1 tbsp per cap full of kernels. I used 5 tbsp for 3 cap fulls but it seemed too much
Answer:	I have found that a recipe of 50gms Orville Redenbacher popcorn + 10gms Olive oil on med heat (#6 on my glass top) and seasoned salt to taste before popping - works every time. I add popcorn and oil to cool pan and stir constantly once I hear the first kernel pop. I think it is necessary to buy quality popcorn for all to pop.
Question:	this machine has to use oil? or you can be used with nothing
Answer:	I just made kettle corn with my Great Northern popper last week using the following recipe and it turned out fantastic; without the burning that many people complain about. 2 Tablespoons regular olive oil or vegetable oil, 1 Tablespoon unsalted butter, 1/2 cup corn kernels, 1 teaspoon kosher salt, 1/3 cup sugar. Heat the oil, butter, salt and sugar over medium heat till hot then add the corn. When the kernels start to pop start turning the handle and continue until the popping stops. Pour into a large bowl and break up any large clumps. Be careful because the corn will remain very hot because of the sugar. Enjoy!

Answer:	This is a good question for those that respond that it should not matter sure it should. China products can not be trusted the materials that they use that make the product are probably not safe.
