This is an adequate no-frills manual bread slicer, and adequate is the operative word. The crumb catcher eliminates messes, making this slicer a much cleaner option than slicing bread on a cutting board. Also, you can achieve uniform 1/2-inch slices; the only caveat is that you can't adjust the slicer to cut any thicker or thinner. Use your longest serrated knife when cutting, because a knife that just barely spans the width of the slicing tray will keep slipping out of the acrylic slicing guides. The guides have no top support and tend to wobble a bit as you slice. They also have inexplicably high sides; you'd have to use triple the leavening to make bread that reaches the top of them. Question:	how thick are the guide post and will this fit into the plastic bread storage container for the bread
Answer:	I think the only instructions are in Japanese. You set up the machine like the picture. The piece you insert (it looks somewhat like a horseshoe) is to help you gauge how thick you want your bread. Once you have that, you use a bread knife to cut through the slit. The door-like piece is to help fold it up when you are finished so it doesn't take up too much room.

Answer:	It appears to me to be 1/8 inch, The markings on the wrapper - which is in Japanese (I think) - show 10, 15, 20, and 25mm. Keep in mind that the product is made of plastic, and the guide, while rigid, has some flex, so you may not get perfect cuts. However they are straighter than I can cut freehand! My greatest complaint is about the limit imposed on the height & width of a loaf to be cut.A pullman-type usually works fine, many loafs prepared in a bread machine are too large, and definitely a boule will not fit within the guide.

Answer:	My bread machine is a Breadman with a 5 1/2" wide pan. The loaves will not fit comfortably in this slicer, which measures 4 7/8" wide. While you can force the loaf into the slicer, the loaf may distort and yield uneven thickness slices. Still looking for the perfect guide!

Answer:	The knife is 13" overall with an 8" blade and the width of slicer's cutting area is 6" so yes, it is long enough to reach from side to side. A couple of things I'd like to share: When I first got the slicer, owing to my lack of experience I tried to use a 'long' stroke, sort of like sawing a 2 x 4. That did not end well and I've learned to use short, light strokes resulting in much better results. Also, in the beginning I tended to press down with the knife with the result that I mashed the bread to the consistency of modeling clay. Hence, that reference above to 'light' strokes . In the event your loaf is narrower than the cutting surface you may want to gently and carefully hold the loaf against one side while you're slicing. That will prevent the loaf from sliding side to side and should make the task a lot easier. I realize my reply may be a case of being asked the time and explaining how to make a watch but in any event, I hope it helps. Enjoy!

Question:	can the cutting board also be used as a regular cutting board
Answer:	Yes, it is using the base slots you can adjust the width.
Question:	is the odor from the bamboo or is it coated with something
Answer:	I just use a rather long serrated knife I have that is long enough to go through the slats. Works perfect!! I really am happy with this bread slicer.
Question:	Is the width of the slicer adjustable
Answer:	I used the measuring tape and measured the width and height of the bread that came out of my bread maker. My 2 lb. loafs are 5 x 5 inches. You can compare this to the posted size of the bread slicer. Hope this helps you.
Question:	Should we use a specific spec of nread knife? we used an 8" hinckley. seemed to knick bottom of cutting board. but we loved the way it worked. thank y
Answer:	Yes, it will fit if it is a standard 2 lb width. It accommodates a taller and longer loaf, but the width must fit between the side fences. I make a 2 lb loaf in my bread machine and it is a large loaf and it fits.
