Then turn the chrome part and the needle back counter-clockwise to the selected time. At the end of the selected time the alarm should ring.

Answer:	Other than setting the alarm for three minutes later than you want, I don't know.

Answer:	We use it all the time for a timer. In fact that is all we use it for. We don't try to set it for a clock, all you do is set the amount of time you want to pass and it will count down to 0 and the alarm will sound. For instance you want it to sound in 10 minutes you just set the screen for ten minutes and it will alarm when ten minutes passes. be sure to hit the start button when set the timer.

Question:	What is the secret trick to turn down the volume? It does not work when the button on the back is pressed. Is this a manufacturer's defect
Answer:	.....responding to the comment down below....the reason it doesn't ring if you set it less than ten minutes is that it isn't 'wound up' enough.....to set it for a small amount of time you just have to wind it past ten minutes first and then just wind it back to whatever amount of time you want. A lot of wind-up timers are like this. Since it doesn't use batteries, the 'power' comes from winding. i.e. turn the dial to 30 or 40 minutes and then just turn it down to the 3 or 4 minutes or whatever that you actually want. :)

Answer:	I believe that may be complicated because there is a pre-alarm which occurs a few minutes before the actual alarm time. You would have to set something beyond 10 minutes and then ignore the pre-alarm. Perhaps someone else out there has figured a way to disarm the pre-alarm feature. This alarm works well, but I had to stop using it. It was so loud, my dog threated to leave home.

Question:	how loud is the beeper when time is up
Answer:	I own one of these timers (and very pleased with it) and ran the following test: I set the timer for 10 minutes and let it run down to 8 minutes and paused it. I returned after 1-1/2 hour and even though it went into a sleep mode (no display), when I woke it up, the 8 minutes were still on the display and when I pressed Start, it resumed the countdown from 8 minutes. Answer:	I am not aware of it having a warning beep. However when the set amount of time is reached there is a very audible alarm that beeps. I hope this information helps.

Answer:	Actually, 2 pushes. One push turns off the beeping and sets it back to count down time, 2nd push off start/stop button starts count down again from original set time. The timer will keep the set time for each count down unless you change the time or turn off timer with on/off switch on side which saves battery power also, nice feature. Also, timer counts up if you push start with timer set at 0000, all zeroes, like a stop watch, timer set works very well kids love them, helps with washing hands, brushing teeth and school work these days.
