But here's what I've found that works: (1) use a knife or fork to dislodge the big chunk of garlic that adheres initially then (2) use the hand-held spray nozzle from the sink to dislodge the smaller bits that get stuck in the holes. Takes a minute or so of effort, but is well worth it for ease with which it delivers finely minced garlic just by rolling it back and forth over the clove.
