| Answer: | I just received the slicer today, November 10, 2020, and THE PACKAGE DID INCLUDE the replacement wire. As others have mentioned though, be very careful when you open the package as the replacement wire, and two little gold end pieces, are LOOSE inside the sealed package. I suggest you lay the package face-up on a flat surface and inspect the package through the clear plastic before opening it. The replacement wire is laying loosely above and parallel to the original wire, and the tiny gold end pieces are on the wire, but there is nothing to stop them from rolling off the wire and onto the floor when you open the package. I stored the replacement wire, with the gold end pieces, in a plastic sandwich bag with the piece of the cardboard package that identifies it. Good Luck and Happy Slicing! |

| Answer: | Answering my own question: I bought one and measured the wire. The wire diameter is .022 inches, which corresponds to 23 American Wire Gauge (AWG). The holes in the holders of the wire ends appear to have a bit of excess opening, so the more-commonly-available (and slightly larger at .025") 22 AWG might work. The wire is held in place in the holder by the last 1/8" or so being doubled back on itself and flattened, so a pair of pliers would probably serve to crimp them. I'll try getting some wire and doing this if(when) the original and replacement have broken. Seems like that'll be less trouble than trying to obtain a replacement from the vendor anyway. In fact, when the original breaks, I'll probably try making a new one then because I'll need the intact replacement in order to get the length just right, that being critical to keeping the wire in the proper tension. |

I found that for my 2018 Hotsprings Prodigy the voltage from the ACE controller is automatically reversed (from the last time) each time the cell is energized. You can verify this by putting a voltmeter on the connections and observing the 12 volt DC polarity. If you increase the output to 10 it will energize the cell more frequently and you should see it reverse the voltage if your tub is capable of that. I think this may only be a feature of newer Hotsprings tubs. |

If you bought it used then the old owner might have removed the Ace System when they learned how expensive it was to replace. In either case you should be able to just re-hook up the Scepter right up and after replacing the water to the “ace” salt standards. You should be good |

We just cover the pump to protect it from the rain and freeze with old blankets and tarp. The only reason we are replacing is we want a bigger one, just ordered the 16 x 32, and we did not cover much in summer so over the years the top edge looks like it is deteriorating. When we took it down and cut it up to dispose of it, we found the top lip looked bad but was still very strong so probably could last a few more years. I have had pools before and it seems like if I did take down for the winter, when I put back up in spring, there were leaks. So I think they last much better if you leave it up and full, just cover and protect the pump for the winter. |

| Answer: | Replacing the wire isn’t difficult, but here’s what I’ve started doing after breaking my first wire just a few days in: On each end of the wire is a square brass lug with a hole in the end of it. These brass lugs hold the wire in place on the slicer, and are in turn held in place by the two small Phillips head screws you see on your slicer. These screws thread into the brass lugs and serve to tension the wire in addition to holding it in place. To replace your wire, remove both screws (being careful not to lose them), then pull the old wire and brass lugs out of their receptacles in the slicer. Replacement is essentially the opposite of removal except that you’ll want to do a couple of things to keep your wire taut and cutting cleanly: 1) The brass lugs on the replacement wires are parallel to the wire. You’ll want to bend the wire so it’s perpendicular to the lugs. To do this, insert one of the brass lugs into the slicer so the top of the lug (where the wire protrudes) is even with the body of the slicer, then bend the cutting wire 90 degrees towards the opposite side of the slicer. Don’t insert the screws yet. 2) Remove the first brass lug and insert the 2nd brass lug (the one on the opposite end of the wire) into the square hole on the other side of the slicer. Bend the wire 90 degrees towards the opposite side of the slicer (note that there’s a shallow slot in each “arm” of the slicer that the wire rests in). Your wire and lugs should now resemble a soccer goal with the wire as the crossbar. 3) Now slide both lugs into their respective receptacles, insert the screws you removed earlier and tighten slowly, alternating between the two. When tight enough, the wire should give a nice high tone when plucked. This tension is what keeps the wire from flexing and fatiguing, leading to its short life span. 4) It will also help extend the life of your wire if you slice so the screws are facing up. This allows the wire to be supported by the arm of the slicer, further reducing the wire’s flexing and its eventual demise. 5) Check the wire’s tension occasionally and tighten the screws as necessary to keep it taut. 6) Slice and enjoy lots of yummy cheese! |

| Answer: | I think this happens to a lot of people while troubleshooting a bad cell. Unfortunately, dilution is the only way ... I know of no chemical method to decrease the salt ppm. You don't have to drain the entire pool though, just enough to dilute the water down to the target level. You probably could crunch some numbers for percentage of gallons/ppm or something to get an idea, but I would suggest just draining a good bit, say 10%, re-filling, and then circulate for 12 to 24 hrs before taking another reading. The joys of owning your own pool ... good luck. |

| Answer: | There are 10 strips in each bottle. It does say this "conspicuosly" on the product itself ... however, you are correct in that Amazon's write-up for the details of this product should include this fact. That being said, salinity is not something that needs to be re-checked (or verified) once or twice a week. These strips are for troubleshooting suspected problems with a cell (generator) ... in a normally operating system, this value (ppm) would be displayed in real time by the controller. A bad cell is sometimes troublesome to diagnose and pool owners sometimes will add massive amounts of salt to their pools not knowing that salinity is already high and the cell needs replacing. With a bad cell, there are 3 ways to verify salinity: 1)take a water sample to a pool store for testing (but remember, they have an agenda to sell you something), 2)buy an expensive digital meter ($200 or more) that will only be used when you suspect a problem, or 3)use these simple strips as a validation of the salinity of the water compared to what the chlorine generation system has measured. They have a limited shelf life (I believe 2 years) so 10 strips is probably an appropriate quantity. If the bottles contained say, 30 strips, you would probably throw away 28 of them when the shelf life expired. They were a big help to me when my cell went bad. |

They might figure that after 3 busted wires, it's time for the customer to buy a new slicer. Or you might be able to ask them about replacement wires in an email. Mine is still on the first wire after about 6 months, but I'll admit that I don't use it very often, and never on hard cheese. |

| Answer: | I don't see a question here but if you're asking if screws anchor the wire, what really anchors the wire it is the little square cubes pressed onto each end. The screws just hold the cubes in place in a square hole, if that makes any sense. I have had the ones that a screw twists the wire tight on one end and they just didn't last very long. I've had mine for a while and the fact that they include 2 replacements wires, I expect this one will last a long time with its top performance. |
