Answer: I have a half-dozen or so of these kits. I would say they all can be a bit fiddly, and none have a preponderance of "big pieces". I suggest going to the Robotime web site (they make wooden puzzles that sell under several different names), and find one you think he would like. The difficult part it that it can take some dexterity when several pieces have to be lined up at the same time. BTW-some of the pieces can be can be delicate, so having a bottle of glue can be handy!
