Question:	Will this work for new players to d&d and to understand of how to play rpg
Answer:	Yes. For new players this pack is perfect
Question:	Can it be played for 1 player to learn the basics of D&D
Answer:	It can, but a solo adventure isn't too fun. I'd suggest there be a dungeon master (DM) who knows how to play and a new player. That way, the new person can get help creating a character sheet, deciding which spells, abilities, and proficiencies to choose. Also, both the player and the DM could create at least one character. Usually, I suggest for small groups that each person creates two characters. That way, they get the feel for different types of characters, which can help them decide which type is right for them. Writing a backstory, picking gear, and roleplaying the first session where characters meet is an excellent way to build confidence and interest. Then, the next session, or if you're running a longer session (4-6 hrs), you can have some battles with enemies. I want my players to 'know' who their characters are, how they react, and how to play them before we get too deep into an adventure. If only one person is playing, I suggest character creation and then googling a youtube video or two. Web DM is a riot, as is Dimension 20.
