S. back in the days of leaded gasoline, and you breathe anytime there is any dust in the air. On the other hand, I would not think it would be smart to grind down one of these plates to a very fine powder and eat it..

Answer:	Keeping in mind that all dishwashers load differently, and these cups are pretty large, I find can’t fit as many on the top rack of my dishwasher as I could my old regular size cups. Same for bowls. Plates sit well.

Answer:	The back of the dishes state: gibsonUSA.com ( China ) Dishwasher, microwave and oven safe. It's a similar style to a Potterybarn set I have. These are a lesser quality, lighter and the finish isn't always even, but it's a nice starter set or for use when you need many place settings at a reasonable price. If needed, I would buy these again. :D
