Remove the cup by turning counterclockwise, apply a bit of dish soap on the base where the blades are, get a small scrubber brush wet and carefully scrub around the blades and areas where the cup screw in (it can get grungy there)... but be careful not to get any water on the sides of the base, especially the charging port and button. I also use the thin straw brush to clean underneath and between the blades.
