Answer:	DG8520 has safety clip for nose of iron (plus indented heel area to securely hold iron nose to heel - iron stays securely in place since its gripped by both sides) - keeps unit snug together with less chance of falling while transporting (previous iron could flip off during transport as you have to physically hold onto both top iron and bottom generator/station unit). DG8520 also has on/off switch (for previous models without built in on/off switch - its possible to plug into power strip with on/off switch) which previous models do not... along with larger water tank. Both can be filled with water without unit having to be cooled down. Just refill and keep on pressing! ;)I've owned several of the last 3 models (for my sewing business - these Rowenta iron steam stations can be your best friend - saves time for repetitive motions)... and like the DG8520 the best. The built in on/off switch and longer time between refilling have spoiled me... plus it's neat that I can carry unit without fear of iron being bumped off while in transport.

Question:	One person said that you have to use only distilled water with this; is that accurate? Why would there be a problem using regular tap water
Answer:	My original response was based on my 2012 Model GS23, and thanks to a comment on my answer, it needs to be revised. I see the newer GS23R model's instructions (available online) do say to use distilled water to prevent mineral deposits in the boiler that can reduce performance or clog the water system. I guess Conair may have had reports of clogs (or modified the newer model) and changed their instructions. (Original answer: The instructions that came with mine say "Open the inlet cover and fill the reservoir with everyday tap water (filtered water may reduce hard water problems)." I've been using tap water for 4 years, it's used about once a week, and it still works fine, no problems.)

Answer:	I have been using this steamer for about three months now, at least weekly. Most of my pants and shirts are cotton, made in India and steam better than ironing. Have had no problems, I use distilled water, and I absolutely would recommend this steamer to anyone. I have had different ones in the past, and I by far like this one the best. I love the attachments that come with it as well.
Question:	I only used my steamer once. I tried using it few days ago and it won't steam. It heats up, light turns green, it just won't produce any steam
Answer:	THE FIX: My device stopped working after first refill. Both lights were on and it made continous grinding sound, but no steam. Here's how I fixed it. No disassemly is required. No need to flush it with vinegar either unless it was used heavily for months. The problem is likely that air bubbles get in a line inside the steamer's handle which leads from a reservoir to a pump. Water pump is not powerful enough to create vacuum to dislodge the bubbles. 1. Fill the reservoir completely with distilled water. Make sure to top it off. The idea is to have as little air inside a reservoir as possible. Put the reservoir back in place. 2. Turn the steamer upside down. That way gravity helps water to clear air bubbles and get to the pump. Make sure to point the steamer away from hands, faces, cats, etc. while holding it in this awkward position. 3. Turn on the steamer. Tap the steamer repeatedly, not too lightly, but not too hard. This helps to dislodge air bubbles. 4. If you're lucky, after 10-15 seconds the sound from the steamer will change and it will start producing steam.
Question:	My product stopped working and it wont produce steam even with green light on. Any clues on how to fix this
Answer:	My device wouldn't produce steam after just one use and a year in storage. So, from on-line reading, I figured the problem was an airlock (bubbles of water) trapped in the internal tube. It is otherwise heating and light indications are normal. So I let it cool, pulled out the water reservoir and placed it head down into the bath sink (do ensure the device is unplugged, cooled for this step). Take about three or four inches of aquarium air hose tubing (you can purchase it at pet supply). It's about 1/8 or 3/16 inside diameter. Push one end over the water supply inlet, inside the cavity where the water reservoir normally sits. Now take a medium to small size syringe. Fill it with water (best the pure kind you purchase at pharmacies - well you might just try air alone). Now forcibly use the syringe to flush a solid stream of water through the device internal tubing. Stand the travel steamer up. Removed the improvised maintenance hose. Fill the water reservoir and replace it. Now turn your steamer on, let it heat the required time and steam away. It worked like a charm in my case - steamed mightily. I am saving my bit of resourced tubing and the medium plastic syringe - with instructions - and storing it with my steamer device, since I only use it every six months or more. I know it will air or water bubble lock the next time round. I will be ready.

Answer:	I haven't. But I have had one of those mall kiosk people use a flat iron on my hair and do it both straight and curled. I just never tried it! It's kind of wide, I think 1 1/2 inches so might not work too good. I think a 1 inch would work better.

Answer:	You can't get one. It's a design flaw. The reservoir is over the heating eliment so it heats up and cracks. The best steam straightener is 'BabylissProTT' it's white. I have 3 and all 3 are over a year old and I love them. $69 at bed bath beyond. You can't buy it off their web site only in a store. If you print a picture of one off line you can go in to any store. If your store doesn't have one and they look up other store inventory it can be shipped to you or store. You just have to pay up front for it. I had one sent to daughter in Kentucky. Question:	How hot is the steem
Answer:	I'm not sure how it would work for you. My hair is pretty curly when it's short and then wavy when it's long and heavier. The iron does smooth it out, but it's still not a sleek salon look. I hope that helps!

Answer:	Large compartment is 6 X 4 inches and 3 inches wide at the small end. next one is 4.25 X 3 and 2.5 inches at the small end, smallest one is 3.5 X 2.5 and 2.25 at the small end. Each compartment has a bit of a curve. They work well for me. When I make a meal, I cook extra and package up the left overs in these to make a sort of "TV dinner" and put them in the freezer. That way, the next week, I can just pop these in the microwave, and have a ready made meal.
