Question:	Are these genuine melamine? As in wont make melt marks when resting or putting out a cigarette
Answer:	Yes, sand works best, anything heavy will work, just not molten lead.

Answer:	it will hold a lot its a 1.5 gallon container but you can buy a bucket for it for easier emptying its a commercial ash bucket

Answer:	I do not use sand in mine. You could put sand in it if you chose to. There is a aluminum foil lining in the bottom section that collects the butts. Sand would help if you had an issue with wind blowing it around , but it will be easier to clean by simply emptying the bucket rather than sifting out butts from sand.

Answer:	There were 12 in the pack. Do not waste your money! They are horrible , after a few uses they started peeling and bubbling. I contacted the company and their reply was not to put them in the microwave . What ?!?!?!? Who microwaves ashtrays ?? I wanted a refund, but instead they sent me another 12 pack.... same issue , they are horrible !!!!

Answer:	I haven’t tested it in such a condition but I would recommend a large plastic sealable bag with your used ashcan and a bandanna or piece of fabric and a day or two to see what happens. This is a sturdy product but I don’t think it was meant for travel.
